Robert: bought my first street glide in SoCal 2 months ago. First Harley. Your teaching has taken me from terrified to confident! You have NO idea what you’ve done for me! I practice every step in the Lowe’s parking lot in the evenings. I now feel so much safer, confident, and LOVE riding my bike! My first week, I just stared at it in terror before I found you. Made myself a paid subscriber without a second thought! Thank you again brother, you’re awesome.

Hello Robert, my name is Joe. I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate everything you have done. Keep up all the hard work. You're an amazing person. Long story short, I don't have a motorcycle endorsement. I went out and bought a motorcycle. That was super big, and I am terrified of it. accidents that kept happening on my old bike Will haunt me for life. The mindset I had was that I'll never learn until I get one. So I brought it home on a trailer and parked it in the garage. I found you on TH-cam. Watch the video about being a boss of your motorcycle Found out what I was doing wrong So I had to go see for myself I pulled my bike out of the garage Knowing I didn't have an endorsement. I Had insurance and a permit Took it anyway I had to see Had A-blast felt super comfortable doing circles in the parking lot Scraping had A-blast Got it home 1st thing I did hopped on the Internet got my endorsement on a small bike. Now I'm 100% legal.I take my bike out of the garage today Went to the same parking lot I went to when I had A-blast And I had the worst time of my life Super scared can't turn put my feet down all the time I
Tryd to ride it like the instructors trained me to do. And almost hurt myself. Maybe it was just not my day. I'm taking it back out tomorrow. When my kids go to school, I get 4 hours to myself, hoping I'll be able to get this down. Thanks again for everything you do, Robert. And keep on keeping people safe. I appreciate it. Thanks again

We have good and bad days in all of the things we do. So don’t let that discourage you. Take it slow. Go through the exercises, starting with the Warm Up. Follow the first 5 steps every time before you move your motorcycle.

Hello Robert, I took delivery on my 2020 Fat Boy 114 yesterday, today was my maiden voyage. Back in January I became a Pre-Loader, “Trust & Believe.” Then in June I found Fast Eddie. I divide my time between your Master Classes and his. I got through chapter four in “Total Control 2nd Edition,” more videos on turning and being the Boss of my bike and the Boss of my Friction Zone, and Front Break. Then I got Fast Eddie’s phenomenal app. I put on my SS modular helmet, (SS stands for Sub Surface Warfare), SS gloves, Sedici jacket, and Tourmaster pants. I looked straight, bars straight, found the friction zone, covered my foot break and lifted my left foot as I rolled down my driveway over the trench to a right turn. My neighbor, a rider, saw me do 5 donuts to the left then 5 to the right and leaning into all four turns on our court, then I took off down the road. She said, “You’re ready for Bike Week! Are you sure this is your first time?” I down shifted and duck walked my first U-ie, 😂 On the fifth U-ie I wasn’t able to stay on the road even in lock, but I locked the fork through the turn on the grass with a left foot touch. A garbage truck was approaching, I forced myself not to look as they cheered me on. On my fourth jaunt off my court, down the road I kept my feet on the boards, road the grass and jetted back to my house…all on my FIRST BIKE! I’m scheduled for the Harley Academy in two weeks. Now I’m going to earn my White Belt. Thank you for all you do and the top shelf instruction you give. Going to practice emergency breaking, pre-loading, and Trust & Believe.

Thank you Robert for all that you do! I am a new rider. Took my MSF class last summer and have been having difficulty making my right hand turns from a stop. They’re too wide! What you’re teaching here, makes total sense. Why don’t they teach this is MSF classes? Maybe you need to think about having your own MSF course nation wide because a lot of the classes don’t care and just pass you even if you should have failed it. Think BIGGER Robert! Help more people learn the right way from the very beginning.

Robert, I hit the like and definitely subscribe button. How can anyone not want to? You are a great rider and instructor "teacher". A true gentleman that wants to help others ride better and safer. I hear you ask some of the new preloaders on a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate themselves. They most likely are not rating themselves on slow riding. Anyone can go down then road at higher speeds, like you say. the bike goes by itself. Slow riding is totally different. I love how you emphasize that over and over again. I have been riding since 1981, I would rate my skills at 4 or 5 and I still learn everyday I ride. More so now that I watch your channel. Like some riders say, I have been riding for 50 years. Probably riding wrong all of those years. I will be practicing your techniques . Thank you for your dedication for doing these videos. Also, most importantly THANK YOU for you police career serving the community .

Hey, Robert. I'm on the Facebook groups you've been joining lately. So happy to have you with us. I think there is one thing about this kind of riding and the people who train like this all share - and you hit on it in this video - we are all motivated by the people who are new to this and we all want to make each other better riders. Whether you train like this to prepare for the rodeos, to become a more confident rider or just to look cool, it doesn't matter. Once you learn this stuff and can control your bike at slow speeds, you're a safer rider and everybody wins. Good stuff here, sir. I hope we get to meet sometime. Keep up the great work.

After more than 70 surgical procedures in the last 11 years, (yes that's seventy), I was unable to ride for 3 plus years.
I was the Safety Officer of a touring motorcycle group and my " claim to.fame" was that I could do figure 8',s in 2 parking spaces wide and 2 long on a full dresser. Needless to say I'm terribly out of practice. My back is fused from the shoulder blades to the tail bone, a couple vertebrae in the neck, I have an electric heart beat. No beat of my own so a pacemaker runs me constantly. Both knees have had work, I have an implanted pain pump, my right ankle gets quite enlarged by the end of the day. And the list goes on !@#%.and I'm 70 years old.
I've not only watched your videos but studied them.
I love your presentations but I have a tough time keeping my Drifter,
( Indian look-a-like) upright at a stop because of a bad left knee so that I can keep my brake covered. I've also had to use my.front brake more than you would like because of this. Please don't tell my to get a trike, I have a goldwing with a trike kit but it just isn't me.
I'm old and crippled but I have a folding cane in the saddle bag and I'm not ready to give up riding.
Your Videos have been a true inspiration. I wish that I was closer and could.make it to practice session, I'm in Michigan.
Thanks for all you do and don't fault me for a few flaws in my procedural riding technique
Keep those videos coming !!! God Bless !

I'm 57 and fortunate enough to have never been hurt. Only times I have been down on street bikes (couple of times) has always been at slow speeds and learned early the importance of slow speed proficiency. Good day Lt. Another great video and lesson. May I suggest one more tip for slow speed turns and leaning for u-turns, should you choose to revisit this lesson again? Aside from the keys of pre-loading, friction zone, rear break and head and eyes, if you are at the point where you are continually successful in practicing those skills. And you've grasped the need for that little bit of speed (6-8 mph). Now try to add counter balance, slight at first and progress to more as your confidence builds. This will definitely help getting over the feel of leaning as well as increasing lean angle confidence, thereby decreasing turning radius. One more step to Being the Boss of Your Motor. I hope I'm not overstepping. Keep up the GREAT work you're doing. Have fun and be safe.
    Faithful Pre-loder.

    • @BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle
      @BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Let me start by saying you can never overstep if you're trying to help fellow Preloaders! That's what this is all about... Each one, teach one. I don't discuss counter balancing because I don't do it. It's not really necessary in slow speed riding, although there are people that do it.
      Thanks for mentioning it though.👍🏾

I just passed my written test ( I decided to get the learners permit this time because I'm basically starting all over again), and I have purchased a 2021 Honda 1100 Rebel but now need to take the endorsement skills test. Unfortunately I don’t have any friends (or even know anyone), that has a (smaller), motorcycle with a manual transmission that I can practice with or borrow for a short period just to go take the endorsement skills test. (The first time I took the endorsement skills test (1983), I owned a Honda 350 with a manual transmission and I had no trouble passing the endorsement skills test the first time).
Here's the situation. You and everybody else always keep talking and stressing the point about using the friction point and feathering the clutch and also about using the foot lever for shifting gears while doing many different maneuvers such as performing the slow maneuvering moves during the endorsement skills testing for getting your motorcycle license endorsement, or when counter steering and performing other specialized maneuvers etc..
But. What if you have a motorcycle such as the Honda 1100 Rebel like I do that has an automatic dct transmission and does not have a manual transmission and so therefore it does not have either of those two items?
So for example, what do you have to do to compensate for the lack of those two items when you go try to take the endorsement skills testing. It’s been over forty years since I last had a motorcycle endorsement on my license, so I’m basically having to start all over again from scratch just because the bike bug bit me once again (thanks to a close friend who let me set on his fully decked out Honda Goldwing 1200), - Yes, even at the age 74 the bike bug still bites (LOL).
Yes I’ve been practicing for those many different skills test maneuvers but with that automatic and without the clutch and manual gearshift lever I can’t seem to get those skills test maneuvers down pat. I come close, but not close enough to be able to pass each of the different skills test maneuvers in order to pass the test and get my endorsement.
So what do you suggest that might, will, or would help? Thank You for the great training tips and video’s.

With a DCT motorcycle, you have to use the throttle and the rear brake. Not having a friction zone is a disadvantage regarding performing slow speed maneuvers, but of course it’s still possible. I’ve had several DCT model Goldwings in my Practice Sessions.
If you’re taking the BRC at a Harley Davidson dealership, they provide the motorcycle.

@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle Yes. Right after watching my first video of one of your “Pay It Forward” video series, I subscribed to your channel and ever since then I have loved and enjoyed all of your video's and training tips of which I have watched so far. They are fantastic, and I have learned a lot just from watching your video's.
One of them I watched last night was the one where you had Eric in it of which had his Goldwing automatic in it. That alone helped me (as I determined that if both “Eric” and “You” could ride an automatic and do those slow speed maneuvers then So Can I). As you always say..... It boils down to... "Confidence and Pre-Load" and then...... "Practice", "Practice", "Practice".
And also, no I am strictly upon my own in trying to pass the skills test because on retirement pay and after the normal monthly bills are paid (including my motorcycle payment), I just don’t have the spare funds left over and available in order to be able to take the local motorcycle safety course which has the fee of $174.00, (and they also provide the bike as well I think), though I would love to do so if I could do it, and had the extra funds available to do so, because if you take their course, and pass their skills test, then they provide you with a waiver for the state required DMV skills test.
But anyway, Thanks for the great advice, tips, and training video’s. A person couldn’t ask for more or better advice, training, and tips. So. Once Again, Thank You Sir !

Because I'm not riding on gold, lol, i don't care if i will ever drop it in a u turn or making tight circles, etc. I think, psychologically, this is a factor in folk not putting more faith in believing that you will not lay it down with speeds under 10 mph, but not below 5mph!

Robert, THANKS for everything you do on this channel! Q: I never hear you say pull your knees against the tank when doing slow speed maneuvers. How important do you think that is? Lots of love brother

It’s my pleasure. 😊 It's nothing that I've ever done, but I do know some that do it. It basically boils down to doing whatever makes you feel most comfortable.👍🏾
