finally, a documentary has the courage to tell the world about the horrible crash jacking epidemic. but in all seriousness, i was only vaguely aware of this era in the crash bandicoot series, so this was a really interesting and informative watch. great job!
This game is literally a staple in my childhood. Since I was Born in 2000, the height of Crash was TwinSanity and Crash of The Titans, and I VIVIDLY, remember playing Titans over and over because I had so much fun. It felt like a cartoon, story was amazing and genuinely funny, with familiar voice actors of cartoons during the time, and the gameplay was pure adventure. I wish this game wasn’t hated so much so they’d remaster it.
I was the same, i played them all alot and Twinsanity's 1st boss (Mecha Bandicoot) was literally one of my most fond experiences in gaming. As a little kid, i struggled fighting that boss and found myself attempting to defeat it for the entire day. I was nearly in tears. But next day i finally bet it and it felt like the best feeling in the world. I fell in love with the game. And is my first experience to challenging games. Later on the Wii i got Crash of the Titans and Sonic Unleashed which i absolutely loved. Now days i can see their flaws, and how they should of been their own title instead of attempting to revise a franchise as something it wasnt. But im still glad i got to play them and considered them my favorite games at the time.
It hurts that i can watch someone like Choctopus say "you know what would be cool? a more open level Crash game" followed up by "if it already exists, i wouldnt know because anything between 3 and 4 i refuse it to exist"
Titans and Mind Over Mutant were not very games (this is my opinion) the highlight of crash was original trilogy, Wrath of Cortex, XS, N-Tranced, Twinsanity and after Tag Team Racing series went downhill until it’s revival in 2016. 2010’s Nitro Kart 2 was a good game. I grew up with Crash in from 1997 to present day.
It's kinda weird because I didn't have a PlayStation 1 growing up but I did got a PlayStation 2 for my birthday eventually and Crash of the Titans was one of my first games for it so in a way THIS is Crash for me. I also played a lot of the DS version
Thanks for this amazing documentary you did a great job, and i was really one of the biggest fans of this underrated crash era yet it's still my favourite! It sucks what was radical destined to in the end :( and sadly it looks like another hiatus for the crash series will come soon.... but we should accept it
Thanks for watching Kaliana. Yeah sadly I believe Crash is on hiatus as Crash 4 didn't sell as much as Acti-Blizz had hoped. Then there's the whole harassment lawsuit at the company which has put all their games on hiatus or delay. Crash will be back though I am sure. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
Hey man these Crash documentaries have been great. They came up in my recommendations and I'm shocked your channel doesn't have way more subscribers. These are real quality, I hope you keep it up.
Loved these documentaries about Crash, you my friend, are a super underrated channel!! Keep it up, you’ll be a big TH-camr one day, the quality of these videos is shocking
Sometimes i feel like im the only person who LOVE these games, they did something different with his character, something fun and unique, you're telling me ALL of you Crash fans wanted ANOTHER platformer? The goal was to beat Sonic and Mario in sales, so they needed to change it up.
I personally enjoyed Crash of the Titans. I agree with you they needed to change it up and Titans was a success. But yes I think most Crash fans just wanted another platformer. It's why Mario Wonder and Sonic Mania were both a great success. Same ol' Platformer formula but very well made. Awesome that you love these Crash games. I've had many people reach out to me telling me how much they love these games. You're not alone 👍
The online fanbase can make it *Very difficult to truly\fully like crash above 78% sometimes with how vindictive it can be, but this bandicoot has such a charm and vastly enduring history over the years, that I can’t help but appreciate it all.
Crash Landed's aesthetic really could have been something. Sadly my intuition tells me it would have been a Ratchet and Clank clone, focusing more on combat and gun-play instead of innovative platforming mechanics, and with it seemingly hitting a lull in development, I'd guess Radical wasn't very confident in it's direction from the beginning. It's a shame too, because I think the character designs were looking brilliant.
Yeah I think Crash Landed had potential but sadly I do believe your intuition is right and, it very easily could've been a bad Ratchet & Clank Clone or even a Pikman clone.
36:25 + 36:30 The irony of Reddit users viewing Mind over Mutant to be subpar as a Crash game whilst using Nina flairs (a character whose first main appearance was in the portable games and Twinsanity, games that were viewed as subpar as a Crash game) never ceases to amaze me.
VC charts isn’t a accurate source. CTTR sold 4M copies according to radical staff. Titans did around the same and MOM did the same too..both games have a psp favorites case and titans went platinum in Europe on ps2 and Xbox. The games weren’t failures, they did really well with MOM being nominated as best platformer on Wii. MOM’s success is what got Landed and 2010 greenlit. In 2009 and 2010 the crash mobile racers were topping charts. The series was doing well just activision wanted to focus on Skylanders. Radical blowing through budgets and resources is what got Landed cancelled…they made mobile games after that which topped charts like I said. I hate how internet thinks reviews and what the fandom thinks equates to sales when it does. Not saying these games were killing the market but they damn sure weren’t failures. Titans era of crash made more revenue than any crash game after CTR remake. Crash 4,Crash on the run and Crash team rumble are doing terrible with 4 barley cracking 1m copies and rumble’s player base only be less than 90k players.
Yeah I hear ya and agree with you for the most part. Prototype 2 underperforming is really what killed Radical. I talk about the reviews and fandom because they are a part of the history. I will try to use more than just VC chart in the future for better sales accuracy
I’m having macaroni and cheese tonight because of this video XD I can just imagine radical employees eating there famous Mac n cheese while they worked on the simpsons hit and run 😋
i had crash : the wrath of cortex when i was a child and so this introduced me to crash bandicoot and i bought the mutants one (never played the 1 2 3) and so my crash bandicoot is biased on the mutants game. Crash of the titans is still one of my favorite game. The soundtrack sounded like dense wilderness and exploration, almost a bit intimidating sometimes but really chill other times. Mind over mutants was good but a lot of the best (in my opinion) mutants were cut out and some had shitty redesigns. The music was good but after i ve checked the original games it fitted more with the crash spirit, more goofy and fun, but i prefered the previous game soundtrack more which has a much more different vibe. For me crash will always be the tattoed babbling marsupial.
Crash of the Titans is fun game. I do think Mutant and Titans both have cool unique soundtracks. If I hear it, I immediately know it's Titans or Mind over Mutant.
You may be right. We do have to wonder tho what Radical's cancelled Crash game would've been had they completed it. Though Im sure it would not have had the giant sales numbers to please Activision-Blizzard at the time.
@@maximoperez4750 Haven't tried the mobile version. I just could not enjoy the DS version. Believe me i tried, but I don't enjoy Mario party either so maybe Im just not a party game guy

Crash Landed actually looked really promising and it's a shame it was cancelled. Also you're funny man. great vid!
Thanks Brandon!
How in the hell do you only have 200 subs! You seriously make some great videos with an amazing production value
Wow, thank you so much!
I thought Crash’s new look was disturbing. Then you taught me the California Roll originated in Vancouver. MY LIFE IS A LIE.
lol! I'm full of surprises!
I just think Titans!Crash is neat

The Titans design for Crash will alway be the definite look for me, though the Crash 4 design is also a close second
Crash 4 as in 2001 or 2020?

16:30 Maybe Radical Entertainment would give those ideas to Traveller's Tales Oxford Studio, which is working on Crash Twinsanity at the time.
It's possible.

What's that cartoon at 19:40
Its "Recycle Rex" a Disney short from 1993 that was to teach kids about recycling.

Revival era? So like the N.Sane trilogy?
Yup
@@nest6429 Ah ok, I do have a bunch of notes and research on it. Currently working on another video but after I'll consider it 👍
