FF3 hands down, or FF6 in the west as it was known.
I always thought it was part of the hat I never imagined it was hair at all
TP still has my favorite artstyle for the series tbh
12 is the first one I finished and it felt short... I have put sooooo much more time in FF7 as well as FF9
I guess he just chose to dye his hair pink XD
Xenoblade chronicles 3d was my first and one of my favorite games of all time
👏👏👏 yup, I was 12, lvl99, zodiac spear and all rare equipment and yiazmat took me a week and several sessions to get through, because what people don’t know is the battle friend was mined.. you had to have so many buffs, to prevent damage from his attacks whilst making sure float was enabled or you’d get bombed or x3 hp hit.. mind you, this was 2006
I like to call him cat eye link.
Look up "Pandemonium Warden"
Miyamotto said it was because of a bug in the game and that he loved it so much that they kept it in.
I didnt know that was supposedto be hair tbh. I just thought it was like an accent on his hat
Orphan from FF13 was probably the hardest boss by far in FF
The trim of his hat is yellow & his skin tone is light brown, if you gave link blonde or light brown hair like the rest of the series there wouldn’t be enough contrast and he’d wind up looking like Jotaro, where it’s not clear where his hat ends and his hair begins. It was 100% done for contrast’s sake.
I did it in 14 minutes
« OH BOY SMOOCHING TIME »
Depends on the tone of the game. I couldn't imagine Majora's Mask with the Wind Waker art style, but the reverse is also true.
One thing’s for sure, it’s not his canon color. The concept art for the game has his normal hair color range.
The Pink Hair Was Probably due to limitations back them
Nobody: "Adamantoise takes so long... I guess nothing can be worse" Omega: ...
My longest boss fight is probably Sephiroth in the original ff7. Wanna ask why? Super nova goes brrrrr
My guy Link needs to bust that pink out again. Looks fire 🔥 ngl 😤
I still have mine and still use it lmao even as bad as it is. FF9 is the best FF for sure though, seeing as folks are jumping into that debate. Followed by (and I know you dont wanna hear this) FFX.
I always thought the pink was a part of his hat. 😂
I beat yiazmat on both PS2 and Zodiac Age Switch, original ps2 took like 7-8 hours, Zodiac Age took like 3 hours
Well that would have to be sephiroth final fantasy 7 after the game doesn't tell you wants to healer is gone she takes all of your equipment😢
It's because it looks awesome and they should bring it back
It was for definition. Literally it. Had it been the dirty blond/brown color, it have blended in with his ears and bottom of the hat on the side sprite, and he would have had a 74 head on the front sprite. The thing about pixel art that is most important when it comes to thinking about how it was used for CRT screens, is how they used those lines in the screen to help give their otherwise amalgus blob of color, texture. Without the pink hair on those displays and resolutions, it would have just been a brown swath of: "Is that his forehead? Or no, wait. Maube it's his cap. No, that cant be right either, cause we know his cap is circular at the bottom from Nintendo Power drawings!... so is it supposed to be his forehead then? Why's it so big? Oh! Maybe his hair! But where does the hair end and the face really begin?" You can see how important CRT screens were to pixel art by looking at any screenshot showing say, Chrono Trigger's cast's profile pictures in the menu. On a modern display, playing an emulator designed to not be upscaled or anthing... the colors on the face that are meant to help defin them turn into mud. When you apply a CRT filter over them, those smears suddenly are broken up and show you where the contors and shading are applied.
I’ve just beaten it all and I think it’s the best game ever! ☺️💖
I love the pink hair. It looks out of character for Link in 3D, but I always felt like it made sense for an SNES sprite. It’s very distinct.
I never thought it was pink on my TV at the time. It definitely is, but at the time my brain said brown.
Link to the past came out after zelda 2 the reason for pink hair vs brown like in link was to distinguish a different main character
It took me about 3/4 hours
Nice 👍
I always thought it was a Breast Cancer Awareness statement
Link They/Them
I feel like wind waker turned into twilight princess, but that’s better than twilight princess 2 which got turned into links crossbow training
Haha you make point 👍
He was just bi
This is absolutely insane but I'm a little bit obsessed with it, the idea that Link's Awakening takes place in the middle of Zelda 2 really tickles me I can't explain why
It is a neat idea for Link's Awakening cuz it does feel like it could've happened
It's so that he stands out from the brown background.
Agreed
I prefer the more realistic but wind waker is my 2nd favorite Zelda game and I LOVE the art style.
Nice! 👍
Hmm wonder if it says internet required on the guide. Cause it kinda is
nope it doesn't but it should cuz you're right it kinda does
FF9 is over rated. Good game but but def not what everyone thinks
Yeah I tend to agreed. The game's third act really drags on but I still enjoyed the game.
Dont forget the nintendo hotline
Playonline is a SquareEnix website
Final Fantasy IX is overrated anyways.
Yeah I'd agree.
The reason for the pink hair because in that time the way color worked on TV if they had chose to make Links hair any other color such as brown or blonde it would blend in with everything else around or on Link essentially making him look bald the pink hair was so that way you could see the character has hair it was an important design choice meant for the old TV's we had back then
Yep well said
@gamenerdlegacy when it comes to sprites I've worked a tiny bit with them so I understand on a small level how they work in terms of design in some cases like the SNES the sprites had a lot of data to be written with so you could theoretically build a version of this Link with normal colored hair however due to design constraints and console limitations it would've been hard to determine how that sprite would be displayed so by using one off color bit for hair they made it to where it doesn't blend to well as a design choice it's a really good one because thanks to that it gave us an even more iconic character than any other Link we've seen and I think that's ok
@@netherminer101 True. The pink hair did make him more iconic in some ways. As someone who played Alttp on a not so good CRT back in the day, the pink hair really helped to see him better.
I would assume it’s a similar reason to why Mario had a mustache on the NES. And that’s also why his hair is much lighter, almost orange, in key art compared to his brown hair in his NES sprite. His true hair color could not stand out against his face or clothes to be permitted in his design until, I’d argue, Ocarina of Time.
I'm almost done with the original, but the only thing I really despise is the item info popping up almost every single freaking time.
I know, right? That is really annoying
Lol no
lol it is a crazy theory
56:11 or anything that starts with Zelda, like Zeldarm
Link went through a little hot topic phase, no biggy.
lol yup
