Just got a rebar for my birthday. I was disappointed at first but totally grateful now. Love the minimalistic touch two blades a saw and pliers with wire cutters. Perfect
Rebar is my daily carry. I have a Wave plus for work because I need the bit drivers and a glass breaker. I love the fact that it's modeled after the original PST.
Rebar is the one for me. I bought another one 2 days after I thought I lost the first one. I managed to break the small flathead at one point - Leatherman replaced it no questions. I got the bit driver to attach to the (full 3D!) Phillips - highly recommended 👍 Used the Rebar here on the farm and at work every day for 6 years.
@@urbanknifeguy The Wave has almost unusable medium size flat screwdriver and fake Phillips screwdriver, since their adaptor is too wide and too short. The Rebar, on the other hand, has the real 3D Phillips screwdriver and good flathead screwdrivers. The Wave's scissors only take space - generally, scissors rather belong in a manicure than in a multitool because they can easily be substituted by the knife or pincers in most cases. The ruler is almost illegible on the Wave, whereas on the Rebar it's perfect. The pliers'jaws are wider and better to use in the Rebar, while the needle nose crap in the Wave is unstable and too narrow. In general, the Rebar is much steadier and more efficient. I also highly appreciate the Rebar's awl, which is completely missing in the Wave. The Wave is more fashionable than usable.
@Vladimír Vladimírovič thanks so much for that extensive and well thought-out reply. I do not own the Wave but did not realise there is so much difference, other than the design. Thank you!

J'ai acheté la rebar pour essayer la marque puis je suis passé à la wave+. J'ai donné la wave 😶 J'ai gardé ma rebar qui est meilleure sur tout les points
I own the Rebar and the Wave. The rebar weighs 2 ounces less, has a better toolset, and is more comfortable in the hand as pliers or with any of the tools out. It's also really easy to reach in and pull the tools out to use. With the wave, while the one handed opening of the knife is very nice, the shape of the tool is more awkward in the hand, and it's really hard to pull out the tools on the inside when you want access. I can see it being harder in cold weather or with gloves on nearly impossible. I do like both tools but I just like the Rebar, it's so slim and classic looking, mine looks new after years of use.
And it has a lanyard ring that folds out. It's next to the file. I use the lanyard to pull mine out of a kydex Clip&carry belt sheath. The can opener opens bottles too & has a wire stripper. I have the same color as yours, Coyote brown, matching color sheath. It is stiff closing, will get better over time. That serrated blade cuts rope really well.
Excellent multitool, I use it literally every day. Since I got it, it has replaced all knives and EDC tools. No more full pockets, Streamlight Microstream + Rebar and I'm covered!
@@urbanknifeguy am going to buy one of these Leatherman REBAR tools today. The Leatherman REBAR and Swiss Army knife Vitorinox HIKER will be my everyday carry tools🛠
@@urbanknifeguy I am also going to carry a functioning ink knife pen. I will carry it in my front shirt pocket next to my pepper spray pen. These are a type of "007 James Bond" disguised weapons in plain sight. ⚠️The pen knife I will use for opening letters & boxes to save the sharpness on my Leatherman and Vitorinox knifes. The pepper spray pen will be used for self-defense if needed. 🌶
I agree the Rebar is a little tank of a multitool and one of my favorite Leathermans'. Also wanted to agree with you about working through the stiffness with a good cleaning and oiling. When I first got my Rebar I thought it might be defective because it was so stiff but I cleaned it, oiled it and while I was watching a TV show sat there just opening and closing the pliers and tools, oiling and opening, oiling and opening and soon it started to become better and then shortly it was fine and remains fine to this day so you're definitely right about that. I have a pretty good collection of multitools now and the one I carry most is my Charge TTI with Bit's and extender but still love the Rebar, can't go wrong with it. Good video, take care.
Thank you for sharing your experiences! Did it ever "bite" you? I have been bitten a few times, even till now as there is a good snap when the handles close or open fully.
Well as far as nipping me a lot of them will if you don't watch it especially some of the older models. I think I'm just real self conscious of it and take care to avoid it but I can see where yeah if I didn't make an effort to avoid it it could get me 😅
I got my Rebar about a month ago. Old stock new in box with a leather sheath but felt like it had never been oiled before and was really hard to close. Still working on it daily but not quite there yet.
I use the supertool 300M I’m suprised hardly anyone uses it. It’s abit bulky but has a great tool set, bit driver, knife and a prybar which no other Leatherman has.
Yes, I think the bulk is the main reason for the lack in popularity of the supertool300. Whereas the Rebar is slimmer and more compact, compared to most other Leathermans.
By far my most used multitool. There are greater chances for me to go to work without pants than without Leatherman Rebar. I pair it with cheap shoddy utility blade or scalpel that i'm not afraid to loose.
I have several LM's, or that is to say I have a Rebar and a Wave (not the +), and then I have broken one Wave and a PS4. Never used them much, so quite disapointed about their quality. That being said, the wave is never used. I have the rebar in a survival pouch that I can throw in a bag if needed. I much prefer it over the wave for the lower weight, but mostly because of it's awl. But they are still both too heavy to carry around for everyday use or bushcraft in my opinion. SAKS on the other hand, I have always one on me.
i just bought a rebar and yes it seems sturdy and fairly light. but i have bought 5 semi generic multitools from amazon and none of the longer tools ( blades, saws, etc). are flexible like they are on the rebar. is this flexibility a plus or a minus?
I think there are always 2 sides of a coin so it depends what you are looking for. Thinner tools make the overall tool lighter, the knife more slicey, the saw cuts faster and easier to sharpen. However, thinner might not be as tough as thicker tools so you cannot abuse them. Hope that helps!
@urbanknifeguy Rebar pliers, Rebar awl in place of the scissors, The charge s 30 straight blade is all so far I'm debating on what I could live without to put the 91mm sak scissors in it..
I have not tried it yet but Ben who has thr channel " TexasToolCrib" has a video of him doing it step by step it doesn't seem to hard I just haven't had time to do it but I'll post a update when I do

The only models i love from leatherman are the rebar and supertool eod. If only leatherman reverse the tool to be opened from the outside, that would be perfection for me.
It's a serrated blade for cutting ropes and (seat)belts, clothing and even food. That's also why it's a sheepfoot style blade. It's not a metal saw! I fully agree with that bits part where you can drop and loose the bit most of all when working with gloves on. I have many Leatherman tools and I agree the Rebar is the tool in the jungle for me. For urban use and travel to urban places I prefer the Bond. It's only missing the serrated blade and woodsaw and is non locking. Non locking is probably not going against any knife laws when traveling.
Love my rebar till the main blade snapped while doing very light batoning leatherman fixed it and I'll be nicer to it and it's still my main edc multitool.
I like my Leatherman Curl for an EDC, great toolset, light and I hardly even know it's in my pocket with the nice pocket clip. Nice review, I may have to pick up a new rebar now lol.
I do not particularly like Leatherman multi tools as over the years, I find them too cumbersome to carry. But my favorite Leatherman for "survival" would be the Signal. I understand your point that you can wind up losing the ferro rod / whistle and the knife sharpener but I don't think thats a major issue. Most of the time when we find ourselves in an emergency or survival situations, we only have what we were carrying at the time. Rarely do we get warnings so we can go home or to our cars to get our emergency gear. So if a multi tool like the signal is your EDC, you always have a way to start a fire, whistle for help, and sharpen your blade. Not to mention that the blade is one hand open. With that said, my favorite EDC multi tool is the Victorinox Swiss Champ. It has so many tools and I love having it on me. I used to carry it in my 5th pants pocket but now I carry it in my EDC sling pouch. I recently got a job as a security guard so now at work, I carry the Victorinox Trekker. It has a few tools and a decent length one hand open locking blade. At the end of the day, a pocket knife/pocket multi tool must always be something you must consider as your only tool because in most cases it will probably be the only thing you have on you when something unexpected happens.
For the longest time, Leathermans did not appeal to me too. Like you, I have been a SAK guy. Now, I do like the leatherman for a survival gear pouch but not as a pocket EDC. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
The problem with multi tools is that they are pretty large to carry about. I have an old leather man and a few other tools in my truck. I don’t carry them on me. If I need a tool I will go to my truck which is in my driveway or parking lot of where I am at. However, if I was to carry something always, swiss champ.
