    Great interview! Turns out I was camped just a little ways across the Alvord from Edward last month but didn't manage to run into him, so it was awesome to watch this and "meet" him this way. It's odd his stuff doesn't pop up in my suggested videos - I need to go take a closer look at his channel. Thanks for taking the time to put this together!

    Upgraded to a Tundra DBL CB from a Tacoma LB 4dr. Only thing I miss were how nimble the Tacoma on the trail even with it’s long wheel base, and also the available rear locker.
    The thing I like about the Tundra is how comfortable the seats are specially on a long trip, more space for people and your gear too. The difference in turning radius wasn’t too big really.
    I average about 11mpg running a 37x13.5x18, about 2mpg less than my Tacom a was on 35x12.5x17. So, mpg didn’t matter much since the Tundra has bigger tank.
    I don’t think I’ll ever go back to a mid size in a while.

    I have owned two Tacomas, an ‘08 and a ‘12. Both great trucks. But at 6’3” I was stuffed. Add two kids and the writing was on the wall. Fuel economy was just a little different, initial price was close. Off-road capability; Tacoma is better but Tundra is still very capable. I own a 2018 Tundra now and am very happy with it. The Tundra interior is huge compared to a Tacoma, and with a canopy on my Tundra I can carry loads of gear.

    I have a Tundra Double cab. The longer bed and width makes a huge difference to me. I haul a LOT of stuff, and inside the cab is just me and my dog, some tools in the back of the cab. I would drive a Tacoma just for the slightly better fuel economy. But to me the Tundra is more useful

    Jason - we went from an F-150 (as much interior space as the Tundra) to a Dodge RAM 2500 MegaCab. You get the best of both worlds...very large and comfy cab, 6.5' bed, and yet a pretty good turning radius with the option of gas or a Cummins diesel. We don't care about brand, and are exceedingly happy with it. 28 gallon tank. We get 13-16 around town, and 19-24 on the highway. Up to 600 miles.

    I have a Silverado with the bigger cab and the short bed. I used to have the Tahoe suv. I would not go back to the suv now having the truck bed and the bigger cab is very similar to having the Tahoe. I would definitely recommend the Chevy or GMC trucks. Just saying even the North American trucks are very good for camping or any outdoor activities. Good video.

  • @gsdlvr123

    Nice video ! I have a 2019 Tacoma (TRD OR) - I have had a Tundra as well - they are both great! For me the size of the Tacoma and the maneuverability was the difference. We own a horse farm on a river and the Tundra just will not fit on many of the trails and getting it down to the river trails is impossible. The size coupled with the rear locker (for the river rocks. mud. loose sand) was greatly needed. I totally agree the interior space of the Tundra is much nicer but I'm only 5'8" and I'm usually by myself in the truck, for commutes to the office or elsewhere - when I'm not we take our other vehicles (usually our Tahoe or the GMC High Top Conversion van - it's AWD but no trails for that one). I've put 82K miles on my Tacoma since buying it new in Jan of '19 -many of those miles in 4WD - and I must say I am thrilled with the truck.

    I always hear reviewers complain about the size / comfort of Tacoma's. I don't get it. I'm 6' 2" 200lbs and fit completly fine. I don't think I've ever hit my head entering the truck and have at least 2-3" of space between the ceiling and the top of my head. Maybe it's because I've always driven Tacoma's but I think it's really comfortable haha. Now if I was 6'4"-5" the. Yeah it would for sure be too small.

    My real world combined mpg in my Tacoma TRD 2016 is 21.5 to 22. I do like the tundra better, but can't stomach that dismal mpg. But, if what I heard is accurate, in 2021, the tundra will get a 3.5 turbo with a hybrid system capable of up to 30 mpg. And...the torque is supposed to be really good. We'll see.

    I think the Tundra is due for a redesign soon, and I think the fuel economy should improve. It really is a great truck tho, but when you compare to the others, it's starts showing its age real quick.

  • @drc1883
    @drc1883 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sure, bigger truck but as he said, sucks gas and is much more expensive. Also, those rooftop tents would not be allowed (nor would I want to be in one) in grizzly country. To each his own but these points should be thrown in with their discussion.

    Quit complaining about your milage...lol...just did some quick converting on my 2012 ram power wagon and with the 34 gallon tank I can reasonably expect around 370 miles with the truck fully loaded so gas stations frighten the crapola out of me.Granted I have 456 gears but from my perspective that Tundra has fairly impressive range.of course the KIA has the best range with reduced cargo capacity......enjoyed the video.
