Thx for the idea on the emesis basin I have two vintage U.S. Navy blue and white enameled basins I picked up at an antique show 15 years ago. They will work great from exactly what you use them for.

Über den ‚eingepinkelten‘ Unterhosen-Duft der Ben Franklin hatte ich auch schon interessiert gelesen. Du warst ja offensichtlich auch nicht so richtig vom Duft überzeugt. Speaking of technique, I started using both hands when I took up wet shaving. That was 7 years ago and it's the best thing I can recommend. No reaching across your face, super easy! Granted its more beneficial when you're first starting because you are not good with your dominant hand either. For you it might be more annoying to take up using both hands because you already have a set technique.

I really like Feathers - I know some have bad experiences with them, and I know there's some trepidation sometimes, but I've found Feathers to be a great all-round blade, and definitely not to be feared. Interestingly, the only razor I didn't like a Feather with was my Leaf for heads-shaves - it was definitely on the rougher side. But for face shaving in regular DEs, really good experiences (especially in the Rockwells, both T2 and 4C).
Nice shave Heiko. I have not had the nerve to try a feather blade as yet. I have a DS Cosmetics brush on order and should have it soon. I bet you could make some money by selling a printed lather bowl. Have a great week. 👍
Whehooo you survived the Feather :) I always get excited from al these different combination of razor + blade .... so many to try with as many results. It took me a whole year to find my top 3 razor and blade combination which I truly like. Ah well what is a year if you compare it to all the years you can enjoy a truly nice and BBS shave
Hallo Heiko, Vielen Dank für deine Anregung. Die Feather hatte ich seit meinen Anfängertagen nicht mehr in einem geschlossenem Merkurkopf und werde es mal wieder ausprobieren. Im Design94 Rasierhobel mit seiner negativen Klingenexposition (1,00/-0.05mm) kommt bei mir die Feather hauptsächlich zum Einsatz und holt gegenüber anderen Rasierklingen etwas mehr bei der Nachhaltigkeit des Rasurergebnisses heraus. Einen halben Tag (10-12 Stunden) nach der Rasur ist ein fühlbarer Unterschied feststellbar. Leider lässt die Schnitthaltigkeit der Feather bereits nach 3-4 Rasuren deutlich nach. Aus einer Personna Platinum lassen sich im Vergleich 1-2 Rasuren mehr herausholen. Aber ums Geldsparen beim Rasieren geht es bei den meisten von uns längst nicht mehr. Auch bezüglich deiner Greifart des Rasierhobels bin ich ganz bei dir. Beim leichten Griff mit den Fingerspitzen kann der Griff in der Hand leicht pendeln und im richtigen Winkel der Kontur des Gesichtes folgen. Gerage beim Übergang von Wange zu Hals ist es sehr hilfreich und erlaubt durchgängige Züge. Bin schon sehr deinem 3D-Druckprojekte gespannt. Klaus vom Kanal "Klaus rasiert sich" hat unter seinen Videos Druckdateien (Bowls, Rasierpinselgriff) verlinkt. Der 3D-Druck bietet auch für unser Hobby reichlich Potenzial. Leicht umsetzbar sind gedruckte Basisplatten zur Modifikation der Rasureigenschaften eines bereits vorhandenen Rasierers. Für den Gillette Tech Fat Handle stehen entsprechende Druckdateien bereits zur Verfügung. Das grobe Kunststoffgewinde des Wilkinson Classic hat sich ja bewährt und dürfte sich vielleicht im 3D-Druck realisieren. Ob es auch mit einem Innengewinde funktioniert? Bei der Kopfgeometrie können 5/100mm große Unterschiede ausmachen und da bin ich sicherlich nicht auf dem neuesten Stand des aktuell Möglichen. Gruß Artur

hello heiko. i think feather blades doesn't have any coating on them: 1- in your experience does the coating (platinum, iridium, chromium, ceramic, tungsten and such) makes any difference in terms of shaving experience or is it only applied for blade (edge) longevity? 2 - what do you think about pairing a specific razor to a specific blade ? i hear there's a slight blade width differences between manufacturers which changes the blade exposure.
#1 The coating that some blades have is supposed to help the blade keep it's edge. It increases longevity but doesn't really affect the initial sharpness. #2 it is a good idea to find a blade that works well with a razor. Different blades will perform differently from razor to razor. So, when you get a new razor, take your time and find the best blade for it. The difference in dimensions is something I will look into in a future video. Cheers, Heiko

I recently purchased the 34C as my first safety razor and have been using this exact combination of 34C and feather blades to give me a bit more aggression without buying a new razor. Do you have any suggestions of a razor that might be a good second razor with a little more aggression than the 34C as I find even with the feather blades I have trouble getting a completely smooth shave on my neck.
I just recently got to try a razor by The Razor Company. That one is relatively inexpensive, sleek looking and very well made. It is a milder razor but has a bit more bite than the 34C. Here is the link. www.therazorcompany.com/products/trc-double-edge-safety-razor-black-aluminum
The use of the potassium hydroxide (the inorganic substance) is for saponifying the fats, or depending on exactly how the company produces the products, to neutralize fatty acids. NONE of the unneutralized hydroxide should be present when the product is finished and packaged.
Interesting, you seem to have lots of inside knowledge. I wish I could one day make a video about all those ingredient list items and explain why they are used in soaps or aftershaves. But my knowledge and understanding is pretty non-existent.
