Also, being able to transform at will gives them a pretty damn good battle form should they ever get into a fight with another superhuman.
I always thought the son got infected first because Jacob says in the interview scene that he lost his son to this disease. I think Quint got it first came to his dad who wanted to go immortal and when the wife didn’t want that she had to go
silver had nothing to do with his death, pretty sure the explosion killed him. explosions in confined area's or under pressure can get extremely intense, like that beirut explosion recently. ppl thought it was a nuke but it was ampho under pressure, the same thing used to blow up the trenches in ww1.
Perks of being a lycan: Super Strength, Agility, Endurance, Durability, Werewolf Transformation, Immortality / Living for centuries, Amazing Healing Factor and A Lycan bite are lethal to a Vampire because its infectious and attempts to turn a vampire but the 2 cells / dna destroyed each other on contact so then the Vampire is dead. Being a Lycan/ Werewolf in the underworld series is far more better to me and plus you can live for eternity and don't age and your only weakness is Silver and fire
This is the part of the series where you can kinda tell they didn't really know what to do next, while I still enjoy what this movie added, it's definitely a far cry from the first 3 films. Keep up the great work man, we need all the Underworld videos we can get
Quint Lane is a Lycan Werewolf Hybrid or has an Enhanced Lycan Physiology. He is also uber sized which makes him stronger then any other enhanced or evolved Lycan. He is the most Enhanced you can be for the bloodline. He is the polar opposite of Saline. The only even match. Saline has Enhanced Vampire Physiology that would later include the Enhanced powers from the Var Dohr Secret Ritual from Blood Wars. We saw Saline in blood wars tear the spine out of Marius who was an Evolved Lycan who's goal was to be another Enhanced Lycan like Quint. Marius was nowhere near the size of Quint. Quint also turned into a huge Werewolf. His transformation was the perfect speciman like William. Quint should've never fought Saline in a tight place. I believe he could have survived the grenade if he was able to transform back at Full Form. That is why he was trying to transform asap. We see at full form that he can take a knife to the brain. Once Saline realized he could take that blow to an organ and regenerate instantly she knew what to do. Quint didn't really flinch when she punched through him. If Saline was to put the grenade inside Quint and he transformed to full size then maybe he could've fought off the silver nitrate that exploded inside his body which would be similar to taking a direct stab to the brain. Maybe not. I know Saline would later get the powers from Var Dohr Secret Ritual and was able to pull Marius Spine out. I don't believe she could tear out Quint's spine because of his size. I don't know if she could penetrate a Lycan with Quint's strength when transformed. Quint's best chance of winning against Saline would be staying transformed. His goal would be to grab her. This is the fight of all fights between the immortals. Quint needed Lucian's IQ and temperment. I never understood why Lucian didn't become enhanced when he injected Micheal's blood.

He needed the pure strain in order to maximize his adaptations and increase their efficiency, because it needed to be potent enough to trigger further mutation. Ironically, Eve’s father, despite having a direct link to Alexander, is not the reason they need her blood. That comes from Selene who possesses a pure evolved version of the virus that would have been passed to her daughter. This is why Michael’s blood couldn’t change Marius and why his form was so different from Quint. While they couldn’t take the corvinus enhanced variant from a vampire, as it would kill them, Eve’s status as a pureborn hybrid allows them to refine it enough to work for them, though it is still toxic. Because of this, the inoculation can only be administered in small increments and the process is prolonged as a result. With all of that in mind, Quint’s imperfect nature makes sense; his transformation is protracted and painful, his movements are brutish and clumsy, and his agility falls short of standard lichens because he is a work in progress and not the final result. Further inoculations or exposure to a more refined source would have resulted in further refinement likely to have fixed all of these issues, but the lack of additional doses wouldn’t cause him to lose what he already has. Each additional inoculation changes the virus he carries permanently and establishes a new baseline for his abilities. Think of it like a vaccine administered across multiple doses; each shot builds on what was established by the one before it with each one strengthening acquired immunity and the protection allotted until you reach a point where you are effectively impervious to whatever vector you are addressing.
The way the movie explains it is Merrius weaker cause he is only drinking Michaels blood...Quint & Jacob are stronger as they were able to separate the mixture & use only the Corvinus blood. Eve was never the goal as they didn't even know Selene was pregnant, it was always the pure corvinus blood in Michael.
It's a genade it doesn't matter that he can deal with silver to a degree or a immunity. He had a genade inside him. Silver would not matter, all immortals would die. Marius was dismembered because of helicopter blades a vampire/lycan immortal, sunlight was not a problem/issue. Hybrids can be killed no matter the version of hybrid by dismemberment.
I would agree with you however we literally see him react to the explosion then there’s a beat or two where he seems like it will be fine and then he swells relatively slowly for a explosion and looks like he is having a severe reaction to the silver. That seems to be incredibly intentionally done to communicate to us as the audience that the explosion alone would not be enough and the silver is what ultimately killed him. What’s also being consistently communicated to us is that the enhanced Lychens are stronger than the elders because of the repeated treatments resulting mutations.

I never liked the later Underworld movies. Because they turned the Lycans the true victims in the war in mindless villains so Salene could be a "slay queen vampire" without making stick to her original choice of turning away from the Covens when she found out about the lies and danger they caused to her and humans in general. Also the grenade killing Quint had nothing to do with silver. All the immortals can be killed through normal means even hybrids. A explosive device going off inside an enclosed cavity like the body of the person would kill no matter what.
What this group of lycans did was awful. Led to the near extinction of both lycans and vampires. Awakening and Blood Wars basically was the lycans shown becoming the equivalent of the worst of the vampires.
I will never understand in movies why the bad guys always seem to want to kill and harvest from the person or creature they are using. It makes much more sense to keep them alive as people regenerate blood (hence why you can donate plasma weekly and blood every few months) and your continuously producing more cells. It makes much more sense to keep your source alive for purpose of both the freshness and longevity of cells.

When I first saw this film, the way quint and jacob talked about eve it almost like the original plan was to breed quint with eve. In fact, I remembered having to calm down several of my mates who were creeped out because they thought she was hot, and tell them that the actress was 18. Passing an 18 off as 11. Go figure for hollywood lol. Maybe the tunnel lycans sensed eve the way werewolves seemed to sense lucian almost. Anyway, speaking of no drawbacks, I kind of expected antigen to be trying to just go the distance and create either superhuman races or new species to unleash on public to increase their power. Then again, I kind of thought antigen would be part of some grand dystopia where the human government was creating a v for vendetta like regime through fear mongering while still being in the underworld. I didn't think they'd just put us in the present modern world, which is what it felt like. Maybe they didn't see the potential this story could have had. Or maybe they didn't care.

I prefer to call them SUPER LYCANS myself, as opposed to call Selene a SUPER VAMPS (at least in AWAKENING).
I think Marius' Evolved Lycan Form should have been Quint's. It looks more related to Jacob's than Quint's canon Evolved Lycan Form.
