    For those wondering why I smoked the Turkey on the Pro Series 4 instead of the new Brunswick, there were two reasons... 1. You don’t try something new on game day. I have a level of trust built with the Pro Series 4 but not with the Brunswick, yet. And 2. In the community tab you guys voted on what’s the first cook on the Brunswick and it looks like it’s going to be Brisket! So stay tuned all! 🍻

    When doing research on portable grills I noticed that this identical grill has been rebranded and is sold by several companies. I bought the Cuisinart brand and it is pretty much impossible to control the temperature. When I first turn it on I set the temp to "Smoke", 180 degrees. The temperature is all over the place, never falling below 280 degrees while rising to as high as 430 degrees while producing sporadic smoke. I end up turning it off which takes 15 minutes for it to shut down properly and restarting it. I've used it six times, each time it's gotten worse. I always start with a clean firebox and temp sensor and quality pellets so it's not anything I'm doing wrong. The fan doesn't shut down when it reaches temperature. There is obviously a faulty component so I have emailed Cuisinart customer service and I'm still awaiting a resolution. It will be a great little grill if I get it fixed otherwise it's a challenge to cook on it. Anyway, just sharing my experience for those in the market for a tabletop pellet grill.

    I bought the same grill on Indiegogo. The brand offered was ASmoke. I was fortunate to get it for $150 including a bunch of accessories and 5 lbs. of pellets. However, if you want it now, it'll cost you $300. I'm not sure what their market strategy is, but this Pit Boss is the same grill available for $197 at Walmart. That said, it's a great portable grill/smoker and I'd pay the $197 for it. Country Smokers have their version too, but the Pit Boss has the temperature probe.

      I bought an Asmoke on Kickstarter but I’m going to sell it and probably buy this. The pellet grills are taking over the BBQ world. To each their own I guess.

    • @GrillSergeant
      @GrillSergeant  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would not go as far to say they are taking over the BBQ world but they are adding to it. I look at it like this...if you are going to get your feet wet in bbq, pellet smoking is a great place to start. Just focus, on your protein and rubs and let the smoker set low and slow do it's job. After you get what you consider "great" BBQ dialed in, now step up and look into more traditional "old school" grills, learn how to manage and maintain a fire...baby steps. LOL Thanks for stopping by Mitchell! Cheers!

    Bought one yesterday at Canadian Tire for use in our holiday trailer, can't wait to burn it in and then try some grilled pork shoulder steaks and then a slab of smoked beef. A couple of differences to your unpack episode, though. No instruction book, front handle is plastic, and no side handles. How am I supposed to pick it up if it is still warm? Excited about the versatility in the campsite, not happy about the deficiencies compared to yours which is the same model number.

      What temp was it outside and do you sift your pellets?

    • @peterdaniellewillcott1689
      @peterdaniellewillcott1689 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably 60s or 70s. I have not before but cleaned it, dumped the old pellets, bought new ones, and removed the safety grate in the hopper and it ran for 7hrs tonight. But I noticed some moisture in the hopper and about a dozen pellets swollen. I took the swollen ones out but plan on smoking again tomorrow should I be concerned?

      I thought I resolved the issue. I bought new pellets. Sifted them and done all I can. I continue to get smoke feedback in my hopper and so much condensation it causes my my pellets to swell and fall apart. Has anyone else had this issue. If so are there any resolutions to this problem

      I'm having the same problem with every cook, but I'm not getting any kind of code. I've changed pellets and still getting lots of smoke outta the hopper and an excessive amount of moisture ... I've contacted Danson and Pit Boss, and they say they haven't heard of such a problem ... I'm at "wits end" with this thing, and really wanted to like it.

    in a lifetime of poor choices, the 150 is the worst i've made in the area of cooking. it seems to do a great job of everything except cooking or infusing food with smoke. have some burgers on right now. been there an hour at smoke and then 250; they're almost thawed. i'd bump up the heat, but if i do it more than about a degree a minute, it causes the device to lock up and shut down. smoke is pouring out of the back of it, but if i open the top i have to swat away flies since the device produces neither enough heat or smoke to trouble them.
    i'm sure if anyone replies it will be to tell me i don't know what i'm doing. and i suppose, with the results i've had, they'll be right. in the right hands, this model may be the greatest thing since sliced brisket. but i'm grouchy, and would give a head's up to perspective buyers that just because you've been cooking 40 years you shouldn't think you can just open the box and start making supper with this thing.

    Do u have to hit the prime button every time u use the pit boss tailgater smoker or no? Or is that just if u run it out of pellets and need to add more to the hopper u have to hit the prime button? Thanks for any info

    • @Arkavian1191
      @Arkavian1191 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always re-prime as I clean out my ash pot after every cook. All you have to do is hold down prime after cleaning for about 30 seconds until pellets begin to drop into the pot. Then you can let go. It's not as long of a process as the very first prime when it is out of the box.
