Yeah, collectors editions are something super cool, but they are less common nowadays... the generations and mania collectors are amazing, I own both, also the mania presskit. They are awesome, but maybe my fave is the 2006 statue (its not really a game collector edition, but it was included with Sonic 2006 in some countries...I got mine a long, long time ago off ebay, around 2008 or so). Totally agree that frontiers deserved a collectors edition too... hope news big sonic game has one. I would love a squid statue, to be honest. Or Giganto.

La cosa es que en Japón se lleva MUCHO el tema merch para cualquier producto, por poco que se venda, porque probablemente los que quieran el juego luego quieran el otro producto. Es un mercado muy diferente. Por eso, por ejemplo se cambian nombres de películas. Ahí Sonic 2 se llama "Sonic the Hedgehog: Sonic VS Knuckles" XD
There was also a special version of sonic and the black knight that came with the sword that you put the wii remote inside. Its called Sonic and the black knight Legendary pack, it was exclusive to Spain and France.
I have : Sonic Rush adventure collector , the two TSR collector , 2 steelbook of Frontiers , and that it's ( when i was a kid a obtain the collector of Sonic and the darkbrootherwood , sorry for my bad english )
I just saw the collector's edition of Rush Adventure on Google. It's the one with the shirt, right? I couldn't find the one for Sonic Chronicles, though, what does it look like? :o
They had hoped to put the game code onto the metal card as a sort of stand in for a physical version of Sonic Mania but couldn’t for some reason. Aaron Webber said on one of the Sonic Livestreams “we promised the fans a card, so they’re getting a card” in response to why it’s in the Collector’s edition for Mania.
@@TheEscodyMK imo collector's editions are already not great but the extra price is warranted because of the physical goods, but with digital deluxe shovelware all you get is cosmetic crap and skipping progression with bonus currency for some reason... My friend insisted on gifting me frontiers so I told him to only get me the base game so he isn't wasting extra money to make my experience worse than it already would've been lol

Pretty simple: cost of manufacture. Sega had more money in the past. Only reason they did it with Mania was they had a proper juggernaut.
