A few important clarifying notes for the video:
    1. I'm told that Antutu readings of temps are not accurate, so next time I'll use a different app, but equally, Exynos is definitely hotter so the point still stands.
    2. For the photo samples, scene optimiser was on for both phones (there was one shot of the screens where it looked like it was off on one of them, but for the photos themselves it was 100% on for both)
    3. Having now seen some other tests of these two online, there is a large variance of results. Some people find Snapdragon mostly ahead, some people find Exynos slightly ahead. I can only report on my findings, and I have rechecked since this test, with similar results, but I think given the variation we see, the main takeaway should be, to not dismiss the Samsung phone's this year just based on them having Exynos Chips. While they may not be as good as the Snapdragons, they are a definite improvement over last year.
    4. I've added a tweet here which summarises the latest situation with these two chips: twitter.com/Mrwhosetheboss/status/1358772300582178821

You know what Samsung should do to both comfort the customers and promote their products? They should release both Snapdragon and Exynos versions of their next phone to all areas in the world, but just make the Exynos version a lot cheaper. This way, customers have a choice.

    • @djshotty1969

No. How's about reducing the ridiculous number of different models they produce? Sell a $250 phone and a $500 phone with Exynos chips, a $750 phone and a $1000 phone with Snapdragon SOCs. Next step is to sell those four phones in every world market. Samsung piss me off when they rewrite the device firmware and change the hardware just to appease network providers.

My experience with the battery life on the Exynos variant of Galaxy S21 Ultra has been horrendous. I sent multiple error reports to Samsung using the Samsung Members app, but they said the battery life I'm getting for my usage is standard. This is REALLY disappointing because back when I was using an iPhone 11 Pro, I was easily getting a full day (sometimes two days!) out of the battery.
I got rid of the iPhone because it was very uncomfortable to hold in the hand, it didn't have picture-in-picture mode (you couldn't have chat heads floating on top of your screen, you didn't have the edge display menu that you can slide in from the side on your Samsung, and you couldn't multitask), it didn't allow the option to upload and back-up everything automatically to Google, it didn't allow for voice activation of Google Assistant, it didn't have USB-C charging, it had a massive notch up top which was super annoying, it didn't allow me to download files from my Google Drive, and the GUI looks like it was made for kids in the age range of 6-10. But I have to say, the battery was incredible, and the camera experience was fantastic (except for low-light portrait mode photos). If Apple were to fix all of these (I'm even willing to put up with the childish GUI and the lack of customization options), I would switch to the iPhone in a heartbeat.

Thanks for this video. Your objectivity in running this processors comparison is a rare virtue on the Internet, and a valued prize for all your followers.
I would get the Snapdragon over the Exynos any day of the year.
The Exynos is a requirement for Samsung, for their brand standing, and for not enriching Qualcomm any further; but my impression is that the Exynos has been cobbled together without the time to achieve the same efficiency of the Snapdragon; but it will - eventually.
I do expect the same pattern of events to develop with the new Tensor chip from Google; because optimising a processor requires from five to ten years - especially the microcode (algorithms) for internal resources allocation; which is, in this case, what keeps the Exynos much warmer than necessary.

Because most things you do on your phone don't last more than a few minutes and don't push the phone too hard. The Exynos's performance only decreases after doing various benchmarks back to back. You're not gonna push your phone like that in real-world usage unless you're a gamer or something like that.

Super nice quality vid, thank you! I love how you work scientifically correct and smart, wow! And laughed so hard at 07:25 😂😂😂 Still, I am a bit skeptical when it comes to the imaging aspect... The pictures of the Pumpkin Spice e.g. could have had a different iso / aperture time and therefore come out differently. Have you checked images metadata always, to see if they match 100%? It feels to me it is less the quality of the images, but more the Exynos had sometimes different focus points / and therefore different iso / aperture / brightness settings. At 06:20, when you 10x zoomed onto the flower on the table, the exynos was darker in the shadows, but also the leaf right behind the flower (the texture, bones of the leaf) had a better contrast on exynos. thank you again, all the best, cheers!

But on our market, an S20+ is only a little bit more expensive than an S10+, which is just laughable. Tipps on improving your network speed test:
    - If you have them connected to WLAN do not run them simultaneously. Otherwise your own network become the limiting factor, not the phone.
    - make sure you run the contesters on their highest available bandwidth i.e. Wifi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax). Make sure your own network supports that in the first place.
    - Ditch Ookla speed test or any other test that uses your internet connection. Instead, use a test like iperf in order to truly saturate the phone's bandwidth.

You overlooked a major benefit to having both processors on the market. Now, during a chip shortage, Samsung has redundancy: two different processor options. Does it matter to the consumer? Well, it does if you want to buy one of these phones at a time when other phone options are backordered. Yes, if you have a choice, you might prefer one over the other. If you live in the UK you can buy the UK version local or have the US (Qualcomm) version shipped. But if one or the other is unavailable due to chip shortages, Samsung can keep selling & you can still buy. Without both in front of you & fairly esoteric benchmarking software running, it's pretty hard as a user to tell the difference..
There's a cost to Samsung to doing this. It's much less expensive to keep all your software & firmware development on a single platform. But during times like the present it looks very smart.

I own an exynos version of the S21 ultra, and I'm on the latest october firmware. My antutu benchmark score is 736510 (v9.1.7) and the idle cpu temp is around 30°C to 27°C, it changes after a few seconds if you leave it. About the camera, I think its improved overall, but still can be worse than the snapdragon version.

I never understood why, for example, my S9+ was so overwhelming slow and how people in the United States could sometimes maintain phones for 3-4 years. Its the fact we also paid more than Americans due to shipping costs and exchange rates too.

All the reviews including iceuniverse has confirmed that it is now on par with Sd888 in cpu and and better in battery performance than SD888 . It's GPU where it lags behind SD888 and needs improvements. This review of Arun is misleading and he just trying to be different to gain views by creating confusion in viewers mind. So now viewers like you start relying on him more because his reviews are not inline with others, you know it's a mind game game and a marketing strategy to gain views.
