It’s not that smartphones are boring now, it’s law of diminishing returns. We’ve become used to all the basic features that used to amaze us. An amazing camera, high processing power, smooth UI, great display, etc are all taken for granted so any further improvements will seem small as the basic use of a smartphone has reached its limit.

PS: Almost forgot to add the VGA cameras that allowed you to keep 2-3 pics on the device itself. I mean can you believe that! You could even make your own monotone music. But you'd have to choose between music or the pics.

I think these all come with a drawback though, after all that resource, I had never heard of a company that prioritizes the screen and its endurance. The more a screen is being lit up to get that color. There has to be a drawback. Because my phone literally has burns along its bazels.
Kudos to Samsung for trying with the foldable phone though - eventually they did a pretty good job with it (maybe the camera wasn't the best,) but it was the screen size & convenience many ppl were looking for -& they invested a lot in it - r&d at Samsung is huge, & goes in various directions - & then other companies copy/amend their ideas🙏💜

You were saying about that camera you pop off the phone and record a view from the phone camera at same time as the pop off one...
That kind of reminds me of something on my old Galaxy S4 phone, that I could record from the back camera and have a small box in the recording of the front camera recording myself separately in the same shot. I love that feature on my phone! But that removable, still functioning camera is a little better in that you can aim it where ever instead of just fixed at one spot on the phone.

It’s true especially for some game apps on Apple. Nowadays I see almost ‘half’ of the number of game apps requiring in-app purchases and/or multiplayer modes, including the internet which may be required in some apps. This annoys me a lot especially when cases get onto using the internet while playing a multiplayer game and having almost no offline gaming.
As an artist I’m really exited for this. Because I don’t have the money to buy a tablet I can put that money I would normally put into my smartphone .. well into my smartphone and my tablet. I don’t have to have both, if I end up not liking digital art I still have a use out of it since it can be my day to day phone and it doesn’t look weird, it looks like a normal sized (ratio) phone.
Maybe that’s just my very specific case but it’s like it was created specifically for my situation and I’m so so exited to be able to buy one of those and be able to have a phone and a digital art tablet without loosing money, accessibility, use etc

The designs are usually different but I'm confident in saying that what the phone can do from a OS perspective isn't all that different from most OS's.. while design is important to me it always comes down to Camera quality & what this phone can do that others can't do like fold/flip or popping up the camera ect.. hell even most cameras in smartphones do relatively the same stuff it's just a matter of which one has the better quality.. so while there are many different designed phones (definitely not as much as before imo) there's not enough differences in other things such as the camera, OS, Screen ect

The thing I would like to see with the invisible front camera is it being in the centre of the phone , it seems a more intuitive place , especially with FaceTiming , then it will naturally be like your making eye contact with the caller , and selfie’s without people looking at them self instead of the camera 🤷♂️

Getting a new phone is boring now. It is exciting for me to set up a new phone, customize my settings, experiment with the camera. But a week later, and im back to doing exactly what i was doing on my old phone. Browsing youtube, reddit and insta. Scrolling through a news feed that barely updates. No point in upgrading phones for me until my battery starts to not hold a charge

For me personally I've been coming up against the problem where I see a cool phone I want and can afford but my cellphone carrier hasn't approved licensing for it so the phone might not work with my network. I understand that if people had easier access to phones like the Red Magic 6 then Samsung wouldn't sell as well so that's probably why.

I already use my phone to play console level games with Game Pass. While I wouldn't recommend it for on the go(on 4G), playing Xbox games at home is pretty seamless.(depending on your connection of course)

I think you got the camera topic a bit wrong. Take a look at the "lightfield" camera concept. Adding more cameras enables you to change things like focus after taking the photo... ;)
Cameras need to be able to zoom in and out of the casing without a " camera bump ". Larger screens and rolable is very exciting.
