The naturally aspirated V6 is probably the best bet in regards to long term reliability and general acceleration I have heard about some turbo issues with the eco boost and stretched timing chains
Thanks for this review of the 2018 Ford Explorer . I've recently bought this vehicle, my Salesman wasn't as knowledgeable as you are. You filled in the gaps of information, that I was looking for. I'm now a fan of yours, and I've told my Co-workers to subscribe to your channel, mainly because they're in the market for a new car. Take car. RG
@@candace9513 I haven't had any issues with it so far. Loving it, when people get in my car they are like wow this is an explorer? :) It's been great for family/friends and roadtrips. Limited has great electronics, I love all the apps that are on your iphone at you can also see on the screen. If you get it Enjoy!
Just purchased a 2018 Xlt so far I'm liking it nice electronics clean smooth ride little extra power spacious sound could be better for having an extra speaker on the dash 20"premium rims is a nice bonus and the select shift is interesting to try safely keeping the miles low and driving my edge until I'm completely paid off for resale and trade in value purposes as good as it is I may keep it good video review 💯
The Explorer is an extremely comfortable family hauler & well equipped too. My only real reservation is the less than stellar fuel economy (the bigger newer Expedition gets about the same MPG!) and the base 3.5L V6 lacks the low-end torque to pull this heavy thing; the 2.3L turbo is a much better pick and while the 3.5L Ecoboost twin turbo is great it is a gas hog.
Doesn't matter which one u get the 3rd row is tight. I have a center console in my 2nd row and even tho I should've went with bench seats bc I always have so many kids, I think 2 captain seats would be the best just so the ppl in the 3rd row can stretch at least one leg lol we seriously never use our 3rd row cause even the smaller kids find it tight. The seats are down for all our hockey, soccer and lacrosse bags...other than that I absolutely love my truck
What is the ford dealer telling everyone about this carbon monoxide problem . Do they have any idea what they are trying to find? Are they just doing something to shut people up? It would be nice if a person who has worked at ford recently tell the truth about it. I know a current employee would not.
Thanks. That is good, it seems like the 2018 explorers are not affected. I have a 2016 XLT and I can smell the exhaust when the RPM goes above ~3000. Doubt the recall with fix it but taking into the dealership next week.
Cool, looks like I made the 1,000 subscriber 😀.... Nice and very helpful review, thank you. I'm now looking to trade in my lease Jeep Cherokee for either a Ford Explorer or Toyota Highlander. Hoping I pick the better one.
djelisa88 yes we made it and the giveaway will be next weekend! 😎 I would probably pick the Explorer. It feels more refined, a little bigger, and I like having three engine options to choose from. But most Toyota buyers seem to be able to get 200,000+ miles out of their vehicles with no issues. They are both good SUVs in my opinion.
The Test Drive True but I would say many explorer owners will also be able to get similar mileage out of their explorers, as these newer explorers seem to be pretty reliable.
Nice crossover but I must say, your driving WAYYYY to fast for conditions!! That's where people go wrong they think because they have an SUV they can drive at any speeds and won't nothing happen. TOTALLY WRONG!! SLOW DOWN DURING TEST DRIVES LIKE THIS IN THE SNOW!!!!
Just bought this same 2018 last week! Never ever considered myself a Ford type of guy but this Explorer changed my entire outlook on Ford! Love my XLT

just bought this model. I love it. Super smooth ride and awesome electronics
How are you liking it now?! Any problems? Thinking about getting one

8:10 That screen wiper line drives me nuts already :O

3.5 has Great Cruising ability

I bought a 2019 platmium edition with the turbo charged engine and that jawn can move
Platinums are the absolute best bro I just want a nice limited
I love this car I’m sitting in it right now! The butt warmers are great
Great rental vehicle. For 30 seconds I thought it was yours until I saw the no smoking sticker.....nice vehicle all the same

The Engine with 3.5 is the best one ❤
Can you smell the exhaust (a bit) when you rev the engine?
Tomba not from inside the car. I’m sure you can if you’re right behind it.

Tomba oh wow - that sounds like it could be an exhaust leak. I’m sure they will be able to figure it out easily.
That has been the only complaint about my 13. We are still alive but multiple TSB's haven't fixed it. Hopefully the 19 is an all new model.
have you tried with the climate off? some reports say it only happens when the climate and air recirculation are ON.
You're 100 short of 1000... Keep up the good work !!
Authentic Max thanks bro!!! 😎
I wrote about your channel... hope you got a few subscribers. Take care bro.
Is this car also gassing ppl ???
Have they fixed the issue where you can smell gasoline when you accelerate? Wow
Do you own one of the explorers or are you asking based on reviews you saw online?
@@bennethezulike6844 neither! I had this exact one rented for a month in 2018.
Please make a video of the Chve Trevers in the Ford Explorer
I reviewed the previous generation (2017) Traverse but I should be able to drive a new 2018 soon
What do you say about this brother?
Does it have a digital speedometer ???
yes
Thought it was a right hand drive

Thank you for replying, I'm still stuck on which to get without breaking my pocket too much
djelisa88 Toyota Highlanders have HORRIBLE third row space. It’s also not as stylish so I would rather comparing this to a Sorento.

How quiet is it on the highway?
Derek Green pretty quiet actually. First Ford I’ve ever driven too
Thanks! I just bought mine last week!
Derek Green What color? Did you get the limited?
I got the XLT with Sport Appearance and Safe and Smart Package. I got it in Black! I LOVE it! It looks like a Range Rover lol
Derek Green nice. Which engine did it come with?
I remember this car performed badly in the collusion test.
Don't crash lol
You ll find alot more cars with same problem. Only few companies but average people can't afford them.
WHERE IS THE GOPRO?
CozyCarl LOL ITS IN THE CAR!!!
The Test Drive i mean the giveaway
CozyCarl my plan is to ship it worldwide wherever the winner is and the drawing will happen around the end of February
The Test Drive oh ok i hope i win since i didnt receive anything for my birthday which was on February 5

Very NICE DESIGN FORD CAR.

I live my 2017 limited
Good job...! Thanks.
great
A v6 sounds like shit when revved up and that wasn't a white out.
Grizzly Country I agree it’s the 3.5 V6 I’m thinking about getting my first ford which is the Explorer sport with the 2.7 turbo
dude relax, that first 30 sec was rough.
keep at it
Took a 2018 ford explorer sport for a test drive the other day, and I have to say I wasn't that impressed with it.
I bet police interceptor utility is much better than that!!
Я купил
Worst left foot rest ever!
Haha I know right?
Didn't he have his right foot on the footpad
@@TheTestDrive i have no idea how they get away with this stuff

Louis Zollo Like all suvs, what's you're point? These are still badass.
Police mostly drive them in the area that we live.
This is a boss car.
Your driving to fast on ice.
You should slow down on Ice regardless of what you're driving for safety reasons.
If not, then...

It's a DAMN Police Car !!! And future Taxi !!! 👎
NOPE. it's a SUV that then became a police SUV and Uber Black. lol.
Yet one if the best selling SUVs
TriggerWarning _V3 and a Taxi ! 💩🤭
