This Centurion D5 Evo sliding gate motor was installed for a client in Pyramid after the previous Centurion D5 Evo sliding gate motor was stolen.
Centurion D5 Evo sliding gate motors have a life span of up to 25 years at a normal residential residence, but rigorous maintenance and installation checkup needs to be conducted to ensure long levity of the gate motor. It is common to replace Centurion D5 Evo gate motors after around 8 to 12 years of service due to a lack of servicing and maintenance.
This is normally due to clients not accepting that Centurion D5 Evo gate motors needs to be serviced and installations must be maintained.
The old steel base plate present, formed the base onto which we could weld the new gate motor into position.
A steel base platform is better as it allows one to assemble the Centurion D5 Evo gate motor completely and then weld it into place on the steel base platform. This prevents the gate motor from standing skew, or not being parallel to the steel sliding gate. One needs to be proficient in welding in order to install Centurion D5 Evo sliding gate motors successfully. The gate motor needs to be welded down in order to prevent the gate motor from malfunctioning etc. The gate motor was welded into place on the steel platform.
A new steel rack was welded onto the steel sliding gate. Due to the size of the steel sliding gate and build size, it was decided that angle brackets needed to be spaced closer compared to much lighter steel sliding gates. Steel angle brackets were spaced around 400mm apart with start up sections being strengthened with extra steel angle brackets. Exquisite fitted 9x, 30x30x3mm angle brackets which was 3x the length compared to the factory supplied angle brackets. One can see that our installations of steel rack onto steel sliding gates is welded properly, spaced evenly and extra brackets on start up points will keep the steel rack in place. Extra steel angle brackets were also welded onto the gate motor steel base plate to keep the steel base firmly in position
Extra steel angle brackets were bolted onto the gate motor and then welded onto the gate motor steel base plate, this means that the gate motor cannot be unbolted and one needs to cut the gate motor loose in order to remove it. All steel brackets and base plates fitted and all welding spots are painted with a primer paint to prevent rust from forming. The primer paint used is Duram NS4, which is a quality primer paint. We also do not use service exchange parts on Centurion D5 Evo sliding gate motors. The gate motor origin marker was welded into position “at least 500mm from the mag switch reader” the distance can be less if needed in certain conditions. Power was connected to the gate motor and the battery charging voltage was checked and adjusted. The gate motor limits were then programmed and the gate motor was checked for proper operation. As always, the Centurion D5 Evo gate motor performed flawlessly. The client did not have a anti theft bracket and client advised that he would build a anti theft bracket for his newly fitted Centurion D5 Evo sliding gate motor.
All gate motor serial numbers and client details were engraved onto the gate motor plastic base, gate motor cover, gate motor door, controller card holder etc. These are all clearly visible, so should one think of stealing the gate motor, you will have no use for it.
