    Beautiful Bass drums. Thanks for the video, very methodical and not too fast or too much chat. A great job.

    So nice just being able to shape a kick on the fly like that. All the right ingredients are there in terms of tweak-ability. Just ordered a MK-iV.

      +Christopher Pederson wooo! Really pleased for your new acquisition (and that I might have contributed to the decision)! You're going to LOVE it. What version did you go for?

    • @christopherpederson1021

      I used to have the MK II, but I sold it (regretted it ever since). It was the chrome knobs with blue LED's version: so I sprung for the deluxe Chromed out version. Yeah, that kick video you posted pretty much sold it. The MK II never had that channel (it only had 3 Drum 1, 2 and 3 channels!)

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Christopher Pederson oh yeah, I'd read that somewhere - the Kick channel is a massive addition over the "drum" channels for sure (although the drum channels allow you to do FM kicks which are fun as well!). I love how the labels on the channels are "advisories" rather than rules!

    ..I have a question for someone who has taken the time to listen to the kick and it's stability.. I have a DRM MKII version with chrome knobs (not the MKIII).. I have many analog kick drum machines and modular modules.. some are very stable some wobble or change in volume.. I have noticed that the DRUM channels on DRM I MKII are unstable as far as trying to use them to make a kick drum with them.. I am wondering how stable is the KICK on the MKIII version..? ..does it wobble..? ..thank you for the answer in advance..

    if i want to connect this to the beatstep pro, should i get the standard DRM1 model or the one with the 8 triggers in the back? i want to use the beatstep as the main sequencer for this vermona and maybe also record the vermona into my daw to use custom drum sounds instead of samples.

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Either the MIDI or the one with triggers would work, but I'd recommend just getting the MIDI version unless you have another reason (vintage gear, modular, etc.) to do so - you only get velocity sensitivity over MIDI so that's the better way to control the DRM1 in terms of getting the most from it.

    • @DjShadowsound265
      @DjShadowsound265 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      only gear i have is a MS20 mini, and minilogue nothing vintage mostly modern stuff.

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The MS20 is worth using the CV/Gate controls on the BSP, but I'd stick with midi on the DRM1.

    • @DjShadowsound265
      @DjShadowsound265 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i already have the sq1 for the ms20 lol,

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, you should try the BSP with it as well. Or both! Use the BSP for notes and the SQ1 for other modulation. The BSP is definitely more "robust" for doing melodies in my opinion.

    Cool machine. I wish they would have a sequencer with this. In these days of digital, it would take up very little space.

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Digiphex Electronics little space, but I bet the price would jump up. I'm thankful for them keeping that cost down because I was actually, specifically looking for something without a sequencer as I wanted to use the BSP.
      I was in a situation where the lack of the sequencer was a bonus!

      Agreed, I'm gutted that the MK-IV doesn't support CC messages for Midi, would have been an instant buy for me if it did.

    Hi,
    After several times watching and listen to your videos, i get convinced about buying a vermona and a beatstep pro.
    I received these two devices this week.
    After some days trying to understand a bit how it works, i can trigger the sounds of the vermona through de beatstep pro pads, in control mode, but,
    why my beatstep pro doesn''t sound in sequecer mode?
    i'm trying to record a simple pattern and i can't, i don't know why it does not trigger sounds when i turn it to drum mode.
    It's connected via midi, midi out from beatstep to midi in of vermona, and the usb ac adapter, maybe i need to connect more cables?
    Thanks a lot for your videos and your help.
    Regards

      Did you go through the midi learn process on the Vermona? If so, did you do it when the BSP in Drum mode or in Control mode?

    • @hansdrone4719
      @hansdrone4719 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OscillatorSink Hey, thank you very much for your answer, much appreciated.
      Yes, i did the midi learn process on the Vermona, but in Control Mode, not in Drum Mode,
      maybe it's the error?
      I'm so newie with hardware gear, as much as i read the manual more confusion i get.
      I will do again the midi learn process on the Vermona, but this time in drum mode.
      Thanks again.
      Love your channel.

    Thanks for the great videos on this machine. I have a DSI Tempest, but to be honest although an amazing machine I'm getting a bit tired of the menu diving. So was actually thinking of getting the DrumBrute, but this seems very cool... I would be using it with my DAW. Is it easy to set up with MIDI?

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's really straightforward - it has default MIDI mappings but you can also put it into learn mode to set it up to your liking. It responds to velocity really well too - very expressive! But bear in mind that none of the knobs are midi controllable - just triggering the sounds with note data.

    • @dep1001
      @dep1001 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool, thanks. And what do think about the build quality? And how do you think it sits in the mix with other analogue and digital gear? Cheers

    • @OscillatorSink

      No. The controls are purely analogue. Midi is for note information only.

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you mean the "is the DRM-1 still worth it in 2020?", then I'd say yes - there's still not a lot like it if it's the kind of sound and approach that you're after.
      If you mean "is 2020 still worth it?", well the jury's out on that one.

    Dude, great job on these vids man! I'm about to pull the trigger on this one, I was determined to get a MFB Tanzmaus but this is making me reconsider. Thoughts?

    • @OscillatorSink
      @OscillatorSink  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Israel Flores the Tanzmaus also sounds great - really tight and precise where the Vermona is a little bit more characterful. Obviously you're getting a sequencer in the TM too, but that's not an issue if you have sequencer already, and some people aren't so fond of the work flow on the MFB. Check out some more demos though, because it's going to be the sound that wins out... I know which one I went with ;)

    • @izzyye
      @izzyye 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ive decided that I'm going to get both! I could really use the imported samples feature on the MFB as well as the portability for live settings. I ordered the DRM1 and its on its way! Thanks for the info
