    Great video! I've been rocking a Mk III for years and years now and it has found its way onto a great number of tracks. Just the amount of different kicks you can get out of it is unbelievable. Kicks for life. I've got it perma-paired to an old Korg ESX-1 for some classic xox style step-sequencing. It's a little bit of a secret weapon.

    • @CaptainPikant

      The general differences in sound could be because they also recorded the room tone through his mic. It creates more atmosphere when listening through headphones, but we can't do this because everything in the room starts rattling like crazy from the sub bass 😄. If you'd listen to this you'd think our studio was falling apart... which, come to think of it, could be an impressive effect.

    • @benki._
      @benki._ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CaptainPikant LOL! well, I mean, it was recorded fine, technically, but the demonstration didn't capture the essence of the instrument, and what it can do. for example, I wouldn't know that the snare sound of the machine is capable of so many sounds if it wasn't for your patience and dedication to actually explore it. Different people do the same things differently I guess. :) thanks again for the awesome videos. This format is very well thought out in all aspects.

      @Yalek Yalula Since there ain't much info about the mk4, at the end I watched the all stimming video. I wouldn't call it a review, maybe an "artiest opinion" and it was hard to watch. it's DJ moves are embarrassing, the sound sucked and he seems to luck in knowledge about what actually updated in the machine. What a contrast to this great review.

    I'm glad the owl was unscathed. Soundwise this is the most complete drum synth. Connect the Drumbrute or a Q-bit Pulsar to these sounds and you have the perfect drum machine. It would be even cooler if Vermona created a version with a powerful sequencer (with pads, automation, probability, euclidean rhythms, ratchets, unquantize) as a second version of the machine.

    Great video..I don't see it as an alternative to a modular system, but a nice companion--I never wanted one in the past because of the lack of dynamic triggers--now I can use my Five12 Vector eurorack sequencer to send dynamic triggers with things like cv mod in to the sequencer, and probability, to create drum patterns that are highly dynamic, complex, and responsive to voltages.

    • @untml
      @untml 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not shore if the trigger inputs on this one go straight to the analog voices without some conversation.
      you can use voltage trigger to midi converter (that translates voltage to velocity)

      @@NickHchaos I really wanted the trigger to work for me too. It doesn't make much sense. I may did something wrong but when I tested the MKII/MKIII timing with a sample accurate midi (ES-3/ES-5) the jitter was lower then with the "analog" triggers. the midi respond to velocity nicely. Hi there, am a little bit new to analogue so just want to check a couple things please if someone wouldnt mind enlightening me. I want to be able to hook this up to logic pro x and effect stuff from there. Am thinking it might be an idea to buy a sequencer like the beatstep pro or something? So am guessing I can then connect the BSP to Logic and effect stuff in real time? Also can you separate all the tracks into your daw for control afterwords? So for example could you go from bsp then have all tracks on seperate audio tracks within your daw?
    Can someone also please explain the difference with the trigger input version and why you would want to have these inputs?

      The deluge is only used as a sequencer in this video (its time will come though). At the end after the multitracked overdriven Korg Monologue section you can hear a few different layered instruments. The Intern mainly used electric pianos and the TAL U-NO-LX-2. When I first heard her arrangement I could have sworn there's a shimmer reverb in there, but it's actually the layering of high octaves.

    Hi, I didn't knew your channel.,I've just subscribed. Do you think the Vermona could do a sort of Simmons Sds V style pounding sounds?

    • @CaptainPikant

      Thanks! To get closer to the SDS-V toms I think the Drum 1 and Drum 2 channels are missing a noise component. But in combination with the snare channel it should be possible. I'll try next week when I get back in the studio. Do you have a favourite song featuring the SDS-V?

      @@CaptainPikant Edit: sorry for the long comment!
      Thanks for the answer! I don't have a particular song in mind but I can put this as example, the snare "kicks" in :) at 0:36

      This is the original promotional 7" fro the SDSV from Simmons themselves, it's also funny to hear it nowadays:

      I always thought that the Vermona Drm was a good choice to have a sort of Simmons analog punch + Vermona's versatilty in making also weird/unusual sounds, but all the demos I've heard of the DRM1 are techno or ambient and not driving the pounding factor to the max.
      Nord drum is another condenter as far as Simmonsesque sound + versatilty but I'm afraid I would suffer the menu diving and no multiple outs

      @@LB-pp7pu Hi LB! Sorry for the late answer, I only just now had the time to experiment a little with the recordings. By layering a Drum 1 and Clap sound I actually got a nice pounding sound. I uploaded it here if you want to take a listen soundcloud.com/user-247747633/vermona-drm1-mkiv-drum1clap-layered
      Of course this uses two of the DRM1's channels already, but if you want to sample and design sounds then I'd say go for it.

      @@CaptainPikant Hi,I totally missed this! Thank you very much for taking the time for doing this experiment, sounds cool! I then purchaed a DRM1 3 years ago and I still use it. And I still love your channel, cheers from Italy!

    In my little demo of the DRM Mk3 I called it "a sonic chameleon with the fattest claps and a droney soul." I really think this thing shines in live performance; you can take it from tonal and droney to fat and punchy to clicky and glitchy with a few knob turns. I love it. I highly recommend color-coding the knobs by function, as you'll see in my demo: th-cam.com/video/Bg2KlC76tuM/w-d-xo.html

      It's been a while since we've connected it via USB, but back then we didn't notice any noise. USB noise is tricky though, with some computers you could have none while others create interference like crazy.
