    nice tent bro...I have the same, but with snow flakes. Did you cook something on the stove?

  • @rkatrails
    @rkatrails 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I noticed in your video, looking inside the tent there are what looks to be two black cords on the ground, one on each side of the tent and stretching from one side to the other. Can you tell me what they are and what is their purpose? Thanks.

      Its been a while but I recall that those are just guide straps to assist with setting tent up. Basically a limiter strap.

    Another short question, you installed the second short pipe right above of stove. Shouldnt this short pipe act as a second protector on the fiberglas stove jack? I hope you know what I mean 😅 bc I installed that short pipe on the stove pipe entry as a puffer

    • @neilvaughan4163
      @neilvaughan4163  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So that short pipe is actually just the storage sleeve for the titanium stovepipe when its rolled up. I only put it there so It wouldn't get lost or crushed. I guess you could slide it up to the stove jack and fasten it there somehow but I can't see it being needed at the stove jack with this stove.

    Trying to order one of these do they all come with snow skirts ?

    • @neilvaughan4163
      @neilvaughan4163  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you see the skirt in the picture you get it, it is built on. Its a nice feature. I have the 1.5 inner tent that has been a good purchase also. Its a really nice tent setup.

      @@neilvaughan4163 what about center poll the site Iam looking at is not really clear but are on sale 50% off right now

    • @neilvaughan4163
      @neilvaughan4163  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't believe they come with center poles. There are some options to buy them separately. The light hiker folks tend to use their trekking poles with special adapters to keep pack weight down. Luxe was offering some great combo deals tents with the titanium stoves.

    why are you using the inner tent? not needed in the winter

    • @neilvaughan4163
      @neilvaughan4163  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is correct, I go back and forth with the inner tent. I have mostly used the tent without it but i find that its nice because it keeps your sleep system fully contained and away from anything else i drag in there. Its pretty tight living with the inner tent and stove. This year “2023 not this video”I took the inner tent along because we had planned to hike in at night and if I couldn’t find a big enough spot I was only going to setup the inner tent for the first night which ended up not being required.

    Am I wrong or is the right side of the stove not connected properly with the clasps on the top? Any reason why you chose this over the Megahorn?

    • @neilvaughan4163
      @neilvaughan4163  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol yes I missed getting that clasp onto its hook. You can't really run the stove like that obviously.

    • @neilvaughan4163
      @neilvaughan4163  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Megahorn looks like a great tent and it was one or the other but I wanted to stay as light and compact as possible so this one was my choice.

    What size stove pipe would be suitable for this tent? I have a medium size seek outside stove with a 5ft.5 length pipe would that be ok?

    • @neilvaughan4163
      @neilvaughan4163  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 3" stove pipe I have is about 10ft tall when on the stove. The tent is bout 6.5ft tall so when on the stove I would want the stove pipe to atleast be 7.5 to 9ft tall if shorter you want a really good spark arrestor.

      @@neilvaughan4163 Thanks for the reply and the info on the pipe any ideas where i could get a decent spark arrestor? Im from the uk and hot tenting isnt as popular over here as it is in the states so finding places that sell all the year is hard to find. Thanks.

      @@LJPCRAFTY the weather guard or spark arrestor that i have came with the stove but if it did not i would just make one out of a tin can. Works great, super cheap and also fun to make.

    The Luxe website says "However you MUST have a heat collar to go around the chimney pipe where it exits the tent through the stove jack, to protect the shelter material and Oxford Patch from heat damage." You don't think that's necessary?

    • @neilvaughan4163
