Came across your channel through your Andreas Hem video, and I find myself going through several of your videos. These conversations with creators/editors are really great. Love the videos you make. You've got my attention, awesome stuff! 🤝 Had a good laugh during the Torronto part, been thinking about the exact same thing 😂
This was great, thanks Jake and Shaffer. I loved when Shaffer mentioned that a one-minute video might take weeks now. I feel that, like how deep you care about it and can you let go enough to release it. I love seeing Shaffer sitting in a wooden chair! Wooden chair group represent! The arm rests on his chair are a great touch 🤔
Ok now. I just saw your channel for the first time when Zach mayfield was on and that was a great episode. But this guy Shaffer has nearly changed my life. I’m so stoked to listen,
This is awesome! Dude, seriously! I keep coming back to my conversation with Shaffer (lol), so it's absolutely fantastic to see new perspectives!! Thanks for putting yourself out there!
Interesting talk! You brushed the subject, and it might need a better question, but I like the outlook of "do you like editing". Might sound silly for a video editing channel, but of all the hats, editing is the hardest one IMO. If you like it 100% and find it easy, you're doing it wrong ;) But in my experience, its also the most rewarding. I can marvel at a beautiful shot, but it loses its meaning and luster real fast, compared to a good edit that I'm proud of. I think people like the shots BECAUSE its in a good montage. Its where everything comes together to make it better than the sum of its parts. Its where the meaning comes in, the coherence with the message and tone. And so I would definitely listen to editors talking about the labour Vs payoff of editing and how they approach it, motivation wise, to reach this culmination :) You know, the struggle to reach the moment when it finally clicks, and then your brain receive the dopamine to be able to accomplish the project!
I could talk about this for hours and this is what I was going for with the question. I guarantee there will be more of this to come. But I do think some people just genuinely don't enjoy editing. I personally find shooting to be one of my least favorite parts. But yeah there could be so much discussion around this and I promise this channel will have more of it :) haha
This was so good… wish it was a podcast rather than a vodcast so I could listen as I go about my day. 🎤
p.s. liked and subscribed.
I forget sometimes that not everyone has premium 😅
What a great conversation. Thank you for sharing!
