    I agree with everything on your wishlist. I would also add motion blur for animations for position, rotations and scaling. When you shoot 25 FPS like we do in Sweden and animate for example the position of a text it looks very choppy because of the lack of motion blur combined with the low frame rate.

    My workflow on Davinci Multicam it's kinda quick, but I agree on FCP needing less actions to do stuff. If any of this helps, here is the things I do: 1. Use the Multicam viewer just for reference and not cutting 2. Change the video and audio cut, to video only on Muticam viewer 3. Deactivate Linked selection (Timeline link) using Shit + CMD + L 4. Don’t link / unlink video from audio, use the one above (can cause trouble later) 5. Global cut on timeline using CMD + B (without anything being selected) 6. Ripple using Shift + CMD + [ or ] (without anything being selected) 7. Select the clip and use Option + Numbers (1,2,3…) to Switch Multicam audio or video angle PS, Discovered your channel recently and subscribed, congrats on the videos mate! Love the humor and dynamic u bring to the editing, keep up the good work!

    The only fact that default behavior of davinci when you drag clip’s edge to resize it is to delete a range of adjacent clip says a lot about how Blackmagic “understands” efficiency. No editor ever wants the adjacent clip trimmed when you drag resize its neighbour!

    • @jakefelzien
      @jakefelzien 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      “No editor” is a strong claim. To play devils advocate the trim tool is for this very purpose. But I agree. Generally speaking the trimming behavior of the magnetic timeline is my preferred editing experience. I’ve said it a billion times. But I don’t even mind track based anymore. Just get me the secondary playhead haha

    • @sunlit777
      @sunlit777 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ sure but they want you to switch to trim every time you want to resize, they make you delete gaps, move playhead all the time instead of hover-skimming, etc etc Final Cut is years ahead of all this cumbersome nonsense

    Bruh, I’ve been wanting to try Resolve for a while, but seeing that it doesn’t have a secondary playhead is honestly frustrating already-thanks for pointing this out! I can’t imagine editing without one. Also, if you need the range tool, you can just press and hold R to activate it, and when you’re done, just release it, and it’ll automatically switch back to the select tool (I don't use it tho, I still prefer "option bracket" to delete)

    • @jakefelzien
      @jakefelzien 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      i am glad I could give you this insight. It is pretty jarring to go from FCP with the secondary playhead to an editor that doesn't have it. If Resolve could ad it, it would change everything

  • @captimedia

    I used to be a FCP user and I loved it for a long time but now, it is Resolve because it is on an another level with all the possibilities. You mentionned 2 points that you don't like but the first one is fixed and the second one can be easily fixed too by linking the good audio track to each original clip of the multicam. I find that there is lots of reasons why I like Resolve better than FCP in general but also in multicam ... Speed editor, the cut page and the sync bin, ATEM Extreme ISO project convert into a multicam, growing files and now the Replay editor ...

For a work around, if you add the audio you want to each camera angle inside the multicam, regular camera switches will work as the audio switch will just be swapping to the same audio. If editing was just about how quickly you can trim blocks without actually watching or listening to content, then this might be useful if subjective information. For me a total understanding of workflow, optimisation using tools like edit controllers, shortcut devices like Streamdeck, fader panels and programmable multi button mice and the toolset to edit, grade, audio mix and output files for delivery will decide what software is ultimately the best. We could then throw in consideration of computer OS, preferred hardware, portability, value etc etc. When I do all those sums, I find myself with the system that gives me speed, quality, sophisticated deep toolset, ergonomics and best value performance and it's not FCP.

      but does what I am saying make sense? like did you watch the video and agree with the point I was making? not a general slowness. a "cutting speed" type topic

      @jakefelzien No you're absolutely right it would be a great addition if Blackmagic do that. Thanks for voicing this.

    Timeline performance is objectively faster especially when you start adding text and effects. That adds up very quickly and DaVinci slows me down so much by having such a sluggish timeline experience.

    • @jakefelzien
      @jakefelzien 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think it depends on what you are doing. I have pushed both to slowdown for different things at different times. BUT yes overall you are right in my experience. BUT that is not the point of the video :) Point is about the objective speed of doing basic cutting.

    Premiere is faster then both and the flexibility is unmatched

    • @jakefelzien
      @jakefelzien 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Does premiere have a secondary playhead or a way to do the skimming cutting as fast as I showed in this video and the last one?

    • @odohayo9140
      @odohayo9140 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @jakefelzien its a shortcut in premier pro and you do that with a mouse that have too many bottons so you do t click on keyboard

      @mattrobinson-filmmaker3209 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      What do you actually base that statement on? Premiere does NOT have this feature…. You can click the mouse to position but that is not the same as FCP hover scrubbing….

    The problem with the range tool is having to hold the mouse button down for the duration of the move. That can be wristy hurty after a long day. That adds up.

    I'm still unsure if I should buy FCP or DR. I wished FCP has similiar stronger colour grading tools as DR or DR such easy workflow as in FCP 🤣

    • @jakefelzien
      @jakefelzien 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      As an owner of both. You basically just described my entire channel in one sentence 😂😂

    • @makemefeelweddings
      @makemefeelweddings 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would go all in in DR if they did something like favorites workflow. The track based thing vs magnetic isn't a deal breaker. Working with favorites is a game changer, specially for those like me that shoot events and weddings. I have like 3h and favorites lets me work with thumbnails like I was looking at a storyboard. Color grading in nodes is very intuitive, but you can do 90% of the typical grading in FCP that you do in DR. Learn and work in both. Premiere only keeps market share because of after effects. Apple and black magic need to rethink Motion and Fusion because both easily can replace AE. In the end, FCP is great for fast delivery, simple effects and moderate grading. DR is insane for youtubers because of simple things like power bins and the way librarys work, and faster for a-roll, B-roll + captions and more intricate effects (fusion integration) for titling and so much more.
