- 'Sister Wives' star Christine Brown spent 26 years in a plural marriage, but the TLC star says she's no longer interested in living a polygamous lifestyle.
Last November, Christine announced on Instagram she was ending her spiritual marriage to husband Kody Brown - a decision that didn't come easy. Growing up with her father Rex, his two wives (including her biological mother Ruthann, a.k.a. Annie) and her 10 siblings, Christine tells PEOPLE: "I had an ideal childhood. I was raised with so much love."

Soooo toxic. I used to think they were a rly nice family hut the truth is, they did become a dysfunctional fmaily. Starting w meri and kodys relationship. Meri trailing around like an old maid ghost hoping kody will give it a second chance is horrifying and actually not good gor the children to see imo.

I think watching her daughters being in these very loving monogamous marriages with husbands that adore them, triggered something in her. She deserves that too. I just wish Meri went with her. It's like she is brainswashed and punishing herself by staying😓I really hate that life for her.

I love her so much and I am so proud of her! Yes!! The scary risk of the unknown is WAY better than staying where you shouldn't. Always listen to your heart. Only abusers and fundamentalists would say that's selfish. It's not. It's okay to do what is best for you, especially when it's also what's best for your child. She got them both out of that toxic environment. I am so happy for them! She is so wise and such an inspiration! Her story resonates with me so much!

Not saying she needs to rush anything, and of course consider her daughters needs- but children are not in charge of parents life. Kind of like you're never really "ready" to be a wife or mother, you're never really "ready" for your parent to move on.
