- On 'Sister Wives,' Kody and Christine Brown begin discussing logistics following their split, including custody of their youngest daughter, Truely. Kody tells Christine, 'You and I have to actually have a child custody agreement in place, or the state takes her, essentially becomes the owner of her.' But when Kody addressed cameras in his confessional-style interview, he admits to fabricating the truth, in order to get Christine to agree to a formal custody agreement.

I clocked that too, had me yelling at the TV Sunday. She’s been nothing but upfront with him. She has played it completely straight. The end of the relationship has followed a very predictable progression, and everything she’s said she would do, she’s done. Trustworthy af. @Aspen Terrashe has said that only her name is on the lease. Besides, she helped Robyn financially so that she could buy her house in Las Vegas, and she gave up her share of Coyote Pass. She doesn't owe Kody and Robyn anything.

@Aspen Terra Initially they did help with down payment and his name was on the lease, cause she was waiting on the sell of her Las Vegas home. Once that sold, she got a new mortgage and paid them back and the lease was in
her name only. Plus she sold her plot of Coyote Pass to Kody for $10. So its Christine’s house to sell and use the money for house in Utah.
I’m happy for Christine and I pray Jennelle leaves too. They are both wonderful, strong women.

This is exactly why polygamy is abusive. These men keep them so sheltered that they know nothing and use fear tactics. Disgusting. Reminds me of exactly something Warren Jeff's or a man in the Order would do. Yet Cody tried convincing us that his family was not FLDS.
I agree that this is true in polygamist cults, but I really don't think that Christine has been that sheltered. In fact, I don't think Kody has kept any of them sheltered, except maybe Robyn. They have all (except Robyn) had jobs, and paid their own bills.
The whole point of the show has always been that they are FLDS polygamists, they were openly members of the AUB (a literal mormon fundamentalist cult) for most of the show's run, lol. They're just not compound/child bride cultists, they're free range/cosmopolitan cultists.. But, definitely cultists none the less.
They are 100% part of the belief system of the FLDS!

@@loveislove-le5nj a lot of polygamous families receive food stamps etc. Christine received stamps at one point and I believe maybe Medicaid. If the father is on the birth certificate they must file for child support before the state will help them. A lot of women in different religious communities or women in general wouldn’t list the father on the bc even if he was in the home to get services. Social services got on to this and they have to now prove they don’t know who the father is.
I hate parents who try to use kids to control and manipulate their ex. He is so completely gross. Him and Sobyn. All of a sudden he's just so eager to see Truly. Thank goodness Christine sees right through him.

They were never legally married and if his name is not on the title to the home then he has no rights to the money unless she gives him the money. Did he really think she was stupid enough to buy "the state essentially becomes the owner of Truly"? Like what?!? At the end of last season TLC did a whole montage of him yelling at Christine. While everyone likes to blame Robyn, Kody is the reason that this family is so dysfunctional. The only difference is that she actually WAS. So he has four wives but no responsibility to them and his family?? He is responsible for treating them ALL the same, even though each one wants to be treated special. That's HIS burden. That was his most important job as someone who gets the luxury of owning all of someone when they can only have a part of him. And he failed. HE failed all 4 of his wives. I'm pretty sure Christine has made a vow to herself not to do or say anything to humiliate Kody, to be the bigger person and a really good parent in this situation. Diminishing a parent in a young child's eyes is so damaging to the child. It's the only reason I can think of that she hasn't laughed in his face or reminded him of his actions during these divorce conversations.
There's no custody law. They can decide to do verbal agreement she can even get child support. He just don't want to be responsible if she leaves.she made right choice he's toxic. Sell house get a house for grown kids.as long she paid and has her name on deed it's all hers.
