  • The plaintiff claims he loaned his brother-in-law money to rent an apartment since he was recovering from a drug problem. He is suing for a return on his loan, since the defendant now has a high-paying job. The defendant claims the money was a gift, not a loan.

He’s one lucky guy! I am the sibling that cares and there is no one ever there to care for me! It’s sucks, but I am okay with it, bc it’s so much worse to feel used up all the time. What’s even worse is when you have to eventually turn your back on your family for your financial future and sanity. You start to feel your self worth lowering every time you give in to them. But, I am 3 yrs in of saying my first no. Now they don’t even bother to ask anymore.

A junkie sometimes can’t run from that narcissistic attitude. Could have taken 1k off the truck and pay the sister back. Could have done a lot of things to pay back or show to pay back.
I don’t even blame the plaintiffs for not accepting a payment plan. I gave my brother 1400$ and it took him 3 years to pay me back. Every payment plan was broken and I was chasing the money.

You've got 2 recovering addicts that have hooked up and their spending every last dollar that comes in on themselves and nothing in the bank for a rainy day. And why isn't she working?? The odds are that he'll screw up and lose that job and he and his girlfriend will end up losing every frivolous item that they blew the money on, and his sister and brother-in-law aren't going to be so willing to get burned again. And back on the opiates once again to cope with their failure to manage their debts.

The same night, they showed up at my job about five minutes to close and bought 8 sundaes. It pissed me off. That wasnt cheap. She even showed up a few days later after getting her hair and makeup professionally done for her date. When I owe someone money, I cut things out of my life to save every penny I can so they get paid back.

When I or my husband lend people, we do so without any expectation of it being returned. If it comes back, great, if not, doesn't matter.

The key to loaning money is two things one to never loan money you can't afford to give away, if I can't afford to call it a wash I don't loan it If someone ask me to loan them money and I do I install it as a gift in my mind of course I want it back but by telling myself I gave it I don't get mad when I see them spend money and number two most important thing if you loan money once and they didn't repay it don't ever loan them a penny again u only get one "gift"

This is like my bum of a brother. Our youngest brother raised his son and I loaned him 5k dollars but gets an attitude if you say anything to him. Not drugs but alcohol. Clearly it has affected their brain cells

Step 9 - We made direct amends to such people whenever possible except when to do so would injure them or others.
