Honestly, this is the best sounding exhaust. I've gone through a few and some are louder, but this one has a very nice tone. It sounds like it's less restricted and not a fart can. I'm thinking of getting a tune for some burbles and pops but not sure if that fits the car's character so I haven't done that yet. Such a great, clean sounding exhaust that's also very affordable.
Goodwin Racing makes great miata exhausts. I’ve had the roadstersport3 on my NA for about 3 years now and its only gotten better with time. Lots of pops and crackles and when it gets really hot it’ll shoot flames! Haha! Great video!
Dude this is the best ND exhaust video out there FOR SURE. You needed a tunnel drive through clip and it would've been perfect, BUT still the best out there. Def considering this exhaust for my ND RF
I have to add, trying to decide on exhaust based on TH-cam videos it's a pain because the audio has to be just right, and you even got a great shot with the roof down and no wind noise. The stock does sound a bit more bassy in person than in the video, but that actually helped the GoodWin shine because now I know for sure it packs some boom.
Ayy thanks man I appreciate the feedback! The goodwin does sound pretty close to how it does in this video, probably a little bassier though. It's def noticeable from outside the car
Got this exhaust on my ND and it always puts a smile on my face. Definitely makes the driving experience better, specially when you're driving topless ;) lol.
Nice install video. I also liked the size comparison. A weight difference would have been nice to add. On a humorous note, 25HP is totally hilarious. That's the sound of placebo in action. In the absence of any other mod, you'd be lucky to get 5HP. You may want to put it on a dyno for your next video. Who knows?
Since the exhaust takes up less space underneath, is the underside aerodynamically affected? Does it create any stability issues at higher speeds? I watched a video of someone installing a Verus rear diffuser and claims it helps with the above issues due to smaller exhausts
Maybe if you're racing-- most track guys add aero to streamline airflow/reduce turbulence anyway. But daily driving or even in canyon runs it makes a negligible difference IMO.
I love this exhaust but I think on the 2019 it's better with the tip insert to reduce sound levels. Why? Because the 2019 refined engine is so sweet sounding and the high exhaust sound just buries it.
Which GWR exhaust did you guys install? Also is this the full exhaust or is this just the axle-back? I recently threw on the GWR SuperStreet axle-back and it does not sound like most of the videos I’ve found on TH-cam. I love the sound of the throaty high treble/high frequency that this exhaust creates, but mine has almost a farty bassy sound with plenty of drone.
@@chrissikora3359 none it just sounds better its just a muffler if you want more HP you need to build the entire exhaust from the engine. But even then you'll be lucky to get like 10hp
Cool. I ordered this exhaust back in the winter and have been procrastinating putting it on my ND (Machine Gray 2018 with BBS package)... I am a bit concerned with loudness for a daily driver, but it doesn't seem to be too bad...Just the right amount of fun. I don't recall your thoughts on boominess or droning at highway speeds, especially around 80MPH? Thoughts?
I'd say give it a shot, it's not that loud and there's not a ton of bass to it so it's not boomy. You'll probably hear a slight hum at 80, but not a skull rattling drone or anything. Also super easy to install so you could just go back to stock if it was too loud for your DD
Are you still happy with your choice? Do you daily drive your car? Trying to decide if I should go with this or the SSST. Does this exhaust get irritating after a while in the car?
Steven can probably answer better than me, but while cruising around town you hardly notice it until you accelerate. It's his daily driver and so far he's loving it. Sounds great when you open it up, but otherwise it's just a very slight hum in the background-- louder outside the cabin than inside
I’m enjoying the content on your channel. I wish I had the time to do more videos. Although I’ll be putting one up next month of me taking the Miata to the Tail of the Dragon for the Miatas at the Gap event. Keep up the good work with the BRZ and Miata. By the way, what video editing software do you use?
Sounds great man, we're definitely looking to get out in some canyons soon too! I use Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing, and I use Photoshop to make the thumbnails.
Hey Keith - thanks for tuning into the channel. The Race exhaust is definitely a sweet tone. I actually drove down to Goodwin Racing and had a chance to compare my stock exhaust to Brian's ND2 with the Race exhaust and I have to say, the test ride sold me. It's much louder of course, but it makes the car way more enjoyable and it feels more sporty when you get the perfect downshift. It may start to wear on you if you cruise on the highway a lot around 80mph, but for back roads, canyon carving and even the occasion freeway on ramp, it makes for a lot of fun. It's really subject on what loud or annoying means to you, but I like the tone and very rarely feel bugged by it. And I do daily my MX5!
Steven is a champ. why do all car guys get their buds to do the work? 🤔 Owner just shoots fpv while the bud(dies) slave away. Hope he got lunch/pizza🍕/beer🍺 out of the deal....unless Steven is the owner.
The A/B clips really sell it for me 👌 the difference is really impressive and it's only sounding sweeter as time goes on.
Had my nd2 club for a few weeks, and just installed the same Goodwin race exhaust today. Wow! The Miata has come alive! Love it.
Props for having the a/b comparison link in the description. You are the real. MVP.

Personnaly i would do a pop/bangs tune like not over done but some few when releasing throttle

Really enjoyed the exhaust install video. I think you guys convinced me to trade in my GTI for my second Miata. Used to have the NC. Club all the way.
Yeah the club package is definitely the way to go
What color Miata are you looking at?

any droning?
Yeah I love driving topless... getting all that fresh air on my man boobs
@@370gtalej5 comment of the day.
I’m curious as to if it drones as well
You guys are pretty chill. Another nice video 👍
good work guys; looking at GoodWin myself for my ND when it comes in September 2019
I just ordered the same muffler. I love the sound. Sounds similar to the 1960's Austin Healey's.
Nice job, fun stuff.
I’m old so a stock quiet ride with no drone is my preferred these days.
Thanks for the video. Put mine on today and love it.
Thanks for the video.. just ordered it because of your video
Excellent video. Thanks for posting! It would be interesting to hear an update on your impressions of this muffler two years on.
This is a great video and really helps me with the decision. Thanks Guys !

Actually we added some stickers so it's making close to 300whp now ;)

MINE WILL BE HERE TOMORROW!!!
How do you like it, mines arriving tomorrow?
Nice for daily, thanks for sharing the video!
Greetings form Indonesia
The best video on this exhaust! Btw, you/the owner notice any increase in power compared to stock muffler? Thanks!
Thanks for making this. You covered everything I'd hoped you would.
Gotta get one of these on my 1.5 MX-5
WE NEED MORE MIATA VIDS
Nice job guys. More ND2 videos please.
That sounds good!
I ordered my race exhaust I have to wait 2 weeks until a new batch of race exhausts are made 😭
worth the wait!
i had the loadmaster street exhaust on my NC they sound good and look good too
j'adore la plaque numéralogique
Amazing comparison!👍👍 I have same car in white, 16 model. I think they have a twin outlet version now?? Looks like a quality’s piece. 👍👍
Awesome! they look dope in white
Lord Walker 👍

Thank you so much for the video, it was very helpful! What kind of rims are you sporting on your ND? Thanks agains!!
these are OEM Mazda BBSs
Does anyone know how this exhaust affects emissions in California? AKA Smog? Will it pass inspection?

it's the roadstersport race
i'm guessing you had no issues getting the back wheels on the rhino ramps? do you have ground clearance for using those ramps on front wheels as well?
Yeah no issues at stock height on the miata, but for my lowered BRZ no chance lol
2x8s cut at 25" are your friend...
Where have you found the things that you put under the rear wheels?
They look similar to motorhome levelling ramps. You'll get them off most caravan accessories suppliers.
Quick question - The end of the centre pipe where the muffler meets has a "bung", for want of a better name. Do you also remove this?
no, leave it. if it's welded on, just leave it.
Is there a db rating on this? Couldn’t find one anywhere. Wanna buy one but i live in Europe so these things are strictly monitored
most likely less than 100dB...a lot of tracks have noise limits
What were the weight savings? Old exhaust looks like a lot of mass versus your new one. Thanks.
Old is like 26lbs , race single 8lbs
No exhaust sounds like a spec Miata cup car!
Anyone know how this affects performance?
makes it faster cause its lighter
What's the horsepower gain and the weight loss from using this exhaust?
I know it weighs 8lbs but not sure of increases in h.p

Steven S, Does the baffle help any with your highway concern?
The price ?
~$370 I believe
Any concern with the hole/gap opened up with no diffuser? Wouldn’t it add drag?

I think a dual tip would’ve looked nicer
HKS makes a good option then
Goodwin makes a twin tip version as well.
