I’ve never really been a fan of the gle, too bulky imo although they‘ve improved it... the glc is way sleeker and sportier, but the interior on this is miles superior, glc exterior with gle interior would be perfect let‘s not talk about the coupés that‘s a whole other discussion

I live in Alabama, where they make the GLE, and I saw a “test car” sitting in our school parking lot. I was kinda shook when I saw it. It looks a lot better in person. It was the 43 AMG with the night package and looked so clean!!

The new X5 is what I’m referring to otherwise I would say the Q7 is the best, the GLE formerly the ML hasn’t been changed in 10 years or so, the BMW and Q7 have been changed every few years. So there’s that for starters meanwhile the Mercedes has an awful interior, poorly designed, cheap and showcased by a crappy command online system which I have used on the S class and let me tell you now, the system on the VW golf is far more Intuitive (discover pro navigation) as for off roading the Mercedes is not the best that would go to the range rovers or possibly the Q7 maybe as it has more clearance. MBUX is always reviewed as better than what they previously had with the command system so it’s still not as good as the MMi system or iDrive both of which I consider the best, as much as a love idrive though Audi has the virtual cockpit and the google earth sat nav with satellite views which are just amazing and it’s even available on the A1. Mercedes hasn’t been selling many jeeps, the X5 and Q7 along with the XC90 are the market leaders in the UK, I have been in a few GLE’s and know that it always has been pretty awful and looks like a chavs car. I think the X5 is bets selling though as you see, them everywhere, even the police use them. It’s not fanboyism it’s real world experience.

Whenever Merc release a new gen car, everyone says it's ugly. But then they release the AMG version and all of sudden, it starts to look really good. W205 C class coupe comes to mind, everyone said the rear section was hideous, but then the 63 version was announced, and it started to look really good.

Surprised to see they’ve gone for small square vents in the cabin instead of the nice round turbine style of other new models? Unusual to see plastic trim round the wheel arches too - most competitors gone colour coded, even on base trim. It’ll be interesting to see a full review when driven.

Mike Gaming the interior is pretty amazing though I must say. We have the 7 series which is pretty damn nice and having been so close to getting a Q7 I think this toureg they have just released may be better with the interior

Even though my better judgement says go for the x5 in terms of appearance, i still do like the gle's interior where you'll spend more time in than outside... and just the fact that it's more practical than it's rivals (maybe not the xc90) and has all of what most of it's rivals has to offer and maybe less. i still do rather fancy me a gle! I love that thing
I would have to see it in person, but something about the front end seems off. The hood looks rather short for a rwd based vehicle and the headlights look perhaps a bit too small or ill matched with the grille. The interior looks inviting though.

This design is classic not too many curves, just symmetrical lines. The rear ends looks cleaner now. I am glad to see that the interior is different from other MB's interior and it's a class apart from the competition.
I think what this shows is the variety of choice now in this segment. I'm from a Mercedes background but am a massive fan of the XC90 and from what I can see, the new Toureg looks fantastic as well. I've always been of the opinion that it comes down to personal preference so its great to have such a variety of choice!
On video Tuareg looks ok but in reality is really boring. A neighboor got one and it was interesting just 10minutes. After a look around never buthered too see the car again. Just boring.
At 0:48, its a pretty unfair comparison which puts people off Mercedes as the rest of the cars shown in the pictures are the ones which the upgraded exterior styling whereas, the picture of the Mercedes is a base model.

Actually it is the rear end the one that looks great and makes sense design-wise and not the front like everyone seems to agree on. That new face and grill doesn’t cope with the rest of what Mercedes is doing now, yet the rear end has that new Mercedes sharp design which I find rather elegant. The interior is sublime altho I’ve never been a fan of the screens and never will, thank god they are somehow integrated with the dash unlike the A-Class.

John Smith but let's be honest most people who buys these cars still check the interior as part of their first impression before buying and ultimately are not too concerned with the exterior because the whole point of it is to be luxury under the radar. Hence the concept of stealth wealth. So having an exterior that's relatively conservative and not too striking coupled with the best interior in class makes for a perfect stealth wealth vehicle which is the main target audience for BMW audi and mercedes when it comes to non amg/m/rs vehicles. Interior is to priority for most people because that's where people are spending the vast majority of their time with the car.

I'm in love with the new redesign of the interior very big improvement from the previous one but the exterior of the previous GLE look fine which I prefer more but this one doesn't look to bad it looks pretty decent in my opinion. But As a fan of mercedes I can't hate on a manufacturer that I love and support sometimes you have to except change, they are doing it because we ask for it to be updated and we got what we asked for so theirs no reason for anyone to hate on Mercedes. yeah spent a bomb on mine and it broke due to a timing chain defect well known 10 years ago plus thermostat failure, burst plastic coolant pipes,engine and gearbox mounts and broken sway bar links all below 70k km..felt betrayed as mercedes never bothered to fix with this defect..really pretty but dont think they are serious in making their cars last unlike the old mercedes i knew..
I personally like the XC90 the most with the new X5 and the new GLE following together at a close distance! Same order for the respective interiors! But the new GLE definitely looks better than the old GLE/M-Class, especially on the inside! The lean-eliminating suspension technology, on the other hand, is a useful version (since it's applied to an SUV, with the inherent high centre of gravity) of a stupid and gimmicky idea!
Class leader in every single way. Most attractive exterior (though XC90 is very good also). Most attractive interior. Best tech for on-road and off-road driving.
Had the previous gen and it was a massive disappointment. The air suspensions was buttery smooth, but it swerved a lot in corners. Had a vibration problem too. Long story short, upgraded to a q7 and never looked back.

This design is classic not too many curves, just symmetrical lines. The rear ends looks cleaner now. I am glad to see that the interior is different from other

I think what this shows is the variety of choice now in this segment. I'm from a Mercedes background but am a massive fan of the XC90 and from what I can see, the new Toureg looks fantastic as well. I've always been of the opinion that it comes down to personal preference so its great to have such a variety of choice!
On video Tuareg looks ok but in reality is really boring. A neighboor got one and it was interesting just 10minutes. After a look around never buthered too see the car again. Just boring.

At 0:48, its a pretty unfair comparison which puts people off Mercedes as the rest of the cars shown in the pictures are the ones which the upgraded exterior styling whereas, the picture of the Mercedes is a base model.

outside is ok, new head/tail lights and inside of the grill look better than previous model, interior is a large step up from the last generation

- X5: It's good, certainly looks like a BMW at least, distinguishable.
- Q7: Doesn't look like an SUV at all, looks like an MPV.
- XC90: Looks good, but definitely not in that R-design trim, too much fake vent.

GLE has plastic cladding over the wheel arches and bottom of the car and the others don't which makes it look cheaper

Actually it is the rear end the one that looks great and makes sense design-wise and not the front like everyone seems to agree on. That new face and grill doesn’t cope with the rest of what Mercedes is doing now, yet the rear end has that new Mercedes sharp design which I find rather elegant. The interior is sublime altho I’ve never been a fan of the screens and never will, thank god they are somehow integrated with the dash unlike the A-Class.
Mercedes need to up their game in looks department, xc90 is killing in the looks ,bmw should stick to their old kidney grille

John Smith but let's be honest most people who buys these cars still check the interior as part of their first impression before buying and ultimately are not too concerned with the exterior because the whole point of it is to be luxury under the radar. Hence the concept of stealth wealth. So having an exterior that's relatively conservative and not too striking coupled with the best interior in class makes for a perfect stealth wealth vehicle which is the main target audience for BMW audi and mercedes when it comes to non amg/m/rs vehicles.
Interior is to priority for most people because that's where people are spending the vast majority of their time with the car.

That still proves my point because if its ugly then people won't care or pay attention to it...while it still having the best looking interior. I'm in love with the new redesign of the interior very big improvement from the previous one but the exterior of the previous GLE look fine which I prefer more but this one doesn't look to bad it looks pretty decent in my opinion. But As a fan of mercedes I can't hate on a manufacturer that I love and support sometimes you have to except change, they are doing it because we ask for it to be updated and we got what we asked for so theirs no reason for anyone to hate on Mercedes. Feel free to say whatever you want about it cause I could care less. I say well done mercedes.👍

yeah spent a bomb on mine and it broke due to a timing chain defect well known 10 years ago plus thermostat failure, burst plastic coolant pipes,engine and gearbox mounts and broken sway bar links all below 70k km..felt betrayed as mercedes never bothered to fix with this defect..really pretty but dont think they are serious in making their cars last unlike the old mercedes i knew..

I personally like the XC90 the most with the new X5 and the new GLE following together at a close distance! Same order for the respective interiors!
But the new GLE definitely looks better than the old GLE/M-Class, especially on the inside!
The lean-eliminating suspension technology, on the other hand, is a useful version (since it's applied to an SUV, with the inherent high centre of gravity) of a stupid and gimmicky idea!

Class leader in every single way. Most attractive exterior (though XC90 is very good also). Most attractive interior. Best tech for on-road and off-road driving.
Had the previous gen and it was a massive disappointment. The air suspensions was buttery smooth, but it swerved a lot in corners. Had a vibration problem too. Long story short, upgraded to a q7 and never looked back.
