      Cant think of a sillier feature on a car than panel alignment. Its such a non issue... Can probably be fixed at the dealer for no cost too. Probably some springs or bolts slightly misadjusted. You guys have no clue how much money and time is needed to make sure every single little gap on a car is perfectly adjusted. Of course they wont adapt factories and spend workforce time on such a silly issue.
      Plus, most of these press cars are always the first units from the chain and always have small imperfections. For some big markets maybe they try and mend it, but not for a smallish one like the uk. Merc will not exactly sell millions of these in the UK.

    • @HossLUK
      @HossLUK 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      @@AI-qd4vb for an over 100k car, there should be no panel gaps like that. That shows the inconsistency in the manufacturing of their cars. For the ones who actually buy these cars, it matter a whole lot, because it's a huge sign of quality and care for their products. in this case, mercedes doesnt show anywhere near 100k worth of care and quality.

    Matt, thank you so much for picking up the quality control issues with the GLS!!! I had a 2022 model after owning a BMW X7 and was shocked by how poor quality the Merc was for relatively similar money. I sold the £90k model for the executive model at £100k.. My kids climbed into the third row and two bits of trim fell off. I knew it was time to get rid.
    I noticed they've improved the options, leather colours etc, but wonder if those horrible "worse than Dacia" buttons still exist around the gear shifter? Honestly, growing up I thought Mercedes were the king of quality. I'm afraid to say BMW are miles ahead.

    We cross shopped the Mercedes GLS and BMW X7 before buying my wife's Lexus GX460. Even though the BMW and Mercedes were slightly wider, the middle seat did not have enough shoulder room to make it very useful. Lexus offered a 6 seat option (second row captains chairs) which makes the 3rd row (short journeys or kids) more accessible. While technically full size SUVs (over 200 inches long), the BMW and Mercedes (and Lexus LX) lack the interior width of the slightly larger offerings (Toyota Sequoia, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, Ford Expedition). The smaller full size might work for you if you are only carrying 6 or your trips are shorter. With all 3 seats in use cargo space is almost non-existent in everything below a long wheelbase full size (Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon XL, Ford Expedition MAX).

I had at three or four technical issues with the car (el. system failure, window failure, remote heating failure etc.) during the time, and the MercedesMe mobile app was a constant annoyance. To be honest, I was happy to return the car and will not consider GLS again, because, as you say "the others do it better".

So big, I can carry two of the biggest Thule top boxes side-by-side, which means I can carry enough luggage for all seven occupants when we go on winter sports holiday. 3years difference between gls (introduction 2019) and glc (introduction 2022), like is being said in this video the gls misses a plugin hybrid: glc has plugin hybrid petrol but also an awesome diesel plugin version range is of the charts on that 1. Glc has 4wheel steering and has a middle airbag in the front and has projection headlights ... all 3 missing on the gls. And the gls also lacks a thing from the S-class and EQS suv and EQS : augmented hud, it only has augmented navigation like all other mercedes including the A-class. p.s. An vw id.3 even has augmented hud so it is even weird that not all mercedes models have it.

      @@G82Watts I have a 2021 Mercedes Benz C43 AMG. Indeed it's a nice car. I suppose you could say it's more "Luxurious" compared with my Model 3 dual motor but the Tesla is just as "premium". You seem to think "bland" does not mean quality. The interior materials in the Tesla feel and perform very nicely. Scandinavian designs are also stark but can be very nice. I also wear a Grand Seiko watch. It could be considered "plain" or bland but it is very high-end in quality and finish and accuracy etc. Don't be sucked into Mercedes reputation. The Tesla is at least equal in quality and certainly performs better. My last few cars? Audi Q7, Mercedes E300 estate, Mercedes C350 Coupe, and Audi TTS, Mini John Cooper Works. These are just a few. (I'm fortunate to be able to experience cars often for my wife and I) The Tesla is at worst the equal to those cars and generally much better in most every way. It is sometimes said: "simplicity is a mark of sophistication". For example no driver instruments is much better. People drive cars according to their surroundings not a few gauges. Also 1 pedal driving (with regen) is substantially better than 2 pedal driving with my ICE car. Propulsion by electric motor in my estimation is a better power plant for moving a car than a gas engine. While the C43 has more top end power the slugishness in most normal speeds is frustrating compared with the torque from the dual motor electric. My Tesla just turned 29,000 miles. Zero issues with only filling the windshield washer fluid and the fit and finish very impressive. But my Tesla comes out of the Shanghai facility which apparently is superior to the US built equivalents. The electric cars coming out of China are on oar with German ICE cars. I just ordered an MG Cyberster (have a search and check it out) 2 seat Roadster dual motor electric with 544hp. Incredible performance and quality too. Delivery mid summer. All cars have pros and cons but don't be mislead by the luxury brands". Selling on reputation.

      @@fairybuddy-angel2035 Yeah especially when BMW is as good as it is right now, I think Mercedes definitely used to be the best up until the mid 2010s but they have given up on their audience now.

    I recently test drove this and the Range Rover. The RR was less expensive and better in every category: interior/exterior finish (and fit); handling and ride comfort; sound system and creature comforts. Both are great cars, though.

    2 points... My mate has an E class with the stalk change - I have a Touareg with normal gear selection.... My windscreen wipers are in the same place as the gear change on the E class... I haven't done it yet - but I bet somebody else has.... and an awful by-product of this is EVERYTHING else is on the other stalk - wipers, headlights, indicators... so if you see an e class coming towards you flashing with its wipers going and indicators on... I feel your pain... Terrible idea.
    Also, talking or the Touareg.... mine has the double sunvisor too - its nothing that special really...
