I've got the 2021. It's nice. But has some petty issues that for the money a buyer shouldn't have to worry about. It's fast. It handles unlike any SUV I've driven. It's a great looking and very comfortable ride. Quiet too. But some of the seat upholstery isn't tucked well. Some interior panels on the rear seats have popped out and it's gonna be a dealer issue. Other than that, I love my Benz.

This review is great! I had the pleasure to drive this car as a loaner during a service. It's nice! I have no gripes about it, but I'm not very demanding.
@JerseyMark They're both great driving vehicles, but I'd personally go for the GLE. The X5 is slightly more sport-focused, while the GLE is slightly more luxury-focused. Both get expensive once you start adding the options that truly make them special, though. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Your review are amazing you know how to sell a product i like your presentation you say what you like about the car and what you don’t like about the car i like that you don’t that anywhere else!
Can you cover the way the car drives in traffic, how quick it feels and how strong the brakes are? I’m trying to get a idea as to what the driver experience would be like
The GLE handles well and is fairly agile, Albert Bell, but it is still an SUV so keep that in mind. The 350's power is decent, as are the brakes. Unlike some of the upper trims, there's nothing exceptional about the driving experience of the GLE, which is why we didn't elaborate a ton on it. It's just a good driving vehicle. Hope this helps a smidge more. Thanks for watching!
It handles like a long sedan. Very well for it's weight. The turbo gives awesome acceleration. It will dead stop from 60 mph to standing still in 160 ft. comfortably. It's very comfortable and feels great even after several hundred miles. I drove 870 miles in a 30 hours and felt great the whole way.
Hi, Lauren Dabney. Sometimes trim pieces, such as grilles, vary depending upon the model, the year, or even the available options on the vehicle. Mercedes is one of the brands that offers plenty of choice for their customers, hence the $30k in options on this review vehicle. So, you may find some with the single bar like this one or the double bar OR if you have the opportunity to check out the accessories for this vehicle, you may even find more choices. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Your reviews are awesome as always!! I've always been a fan of Mercedes but in my opinion you'd be better off getting a fully loaded Palisade, it has more room, more power, and much more value for ya money. $83,000 for a four cylinder? You gotta be kidding me!! Again, save yourself about $35,000 and buy a Palisade!!👍🏾😉
I ordered the gle 450 in December. Still waiting. They’re supposed to make it in March and send to me in April. Mine is red. I totally understand what you mean about options. I got many of your options. $27,000 worth of options! Question: I had to order the black grey nappa leather bc I wanted some options that they force you to get the black gray nappa for $2900. Is it really nicer and softer? In your opinion was it really worth it?
The nappa leather is nice. And it is softer than the standard MB Tex stuff, but that's all subjective. Many would be fine without it, especially for the price, but Mercedes is all about luxury, so while you can get a basic vehicle, the options are what makes them special. We're sure you'll enjoy your new car once it arrives, Richard, so hang in there and thanks for watching!
Dear Richard, do you have a ride you can spare. I am too broke to get one and I really do need one to get to work and get home on time as well as I usually close late from work & it would ease my being able to deliver food to my customers for my growing side food & cake business 😫. It doesn't really have to be an expensive one. I just wanna be able to move around with less stress than I already had for the day. 🙏
Thank you, Viet Tran. While the X5 M40i is a terrifically fun vehicle, we do have some concerns with reliability so we'd stick with a lease if considering one of those. As for the 350 or 450, that depends on if you want more power. The GLE 350 performs just fine, but the 450 will make things a bit more exciting. Both cars can be optioned with whatever you'd want in them, though, so that won't be a barrier. Hope this helps a little and thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics wow thank you! I guess final German option to consider would be a 2019 Cayenne. Which do you think makes sense as a daily driver GLE 350/450 or Cayenne?
@@fightingcarrot The Cayenne appears to be a lovely vehicle. We can't speak personally on them because we can't get Porsche to send us one for review, but if it were our own money, we'd definitely check them out as a daily driver. Porsche reliability has been rather good over the years so you could probably daily drive everything from the Boxster/Cayman to the 911 or Cayenne if you choose. But if luxury is your thing, Mercedes would be the way to go. We have an E 350 review coming up and you'd be amazed at how luxurious it is!
Unfortunately, we can't speak personally on the reliability, John Peterson, but we have friends who own them and absolutely love them. Maintenance will be more on the expensive side because this is a Mercedes, after all, but you can check with your local dealer's service department to get an idea of how much routine maintenance might cost. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Hi, Nice review, short, but important points covered. During your review, you said that you recommend the standard steel suspension. Any idea how those behave in curves? I want to buy a GLE actually and not sure if to go for Airmatic or not. I will not use the car in off road, but would like a car not rolling that much, of course for a SUV. Thanks and good job with the review.
Thank you, Costel Boerosu. We've driven quite a few Mercedes with the Airmatic suspension and never experienced the the side to side action that we did on this GLE. As Chris mentioned in the review, it wasn't terrible, but it was noticeable. The steel suspension would probably be a bit firmer in general, providing a more sport-biased ride, so body lean should be minimal. Unfortunately, we haven't driven a current-gen GLE with that setup, though. The best suspension will be the E Active Body Control suspension. We drove the GLE with that setup during the vehicle's launch event and Mercedes was very proud of how well it mitigated body roll. It was really nice and obviously the best choice, but it does cost more. We recommend reaching out to your local dealer taking a drive in cars that have each type of suspension to see how they feel. You may actually enjoy the feel of the Airmatic setup or may feel as though the steel setup is just fine. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
