It was SUCH a good book -- especially if you like Star Trek DS9, it is definitely a great read!

When I read this as a kid, I'm not sure how much DS9 has seen. I might have known who Jake and Nog were, but I doubt I'd seen many DS9 episodes at all. I definitely knew who the Ferergi and Cardassians were, from TNG.
That said, I think you're right that the ideal reader is a kid who's seen some episodes.

I think I would have been so confused as a kid because I didn't know anything about DS9 - I had watched quite a bit of the original series and TNG and of course Voyager, but DS9 I had always missed.
