This book just really got to me especially as a kid in the 90s and then growing up and seeing how we were told we could be anything, but those things don't always turn out the way we think they will. But the little sister in this book was soooooo annoying! lol

Yes! I discovered that shortly after making this video! Some of them are so good. I absolutely loved The Ooze and some of the others I've read so far!!

I know! I love the cover art on that one too. The art on the inside is similar in a blue and white style that's really great!

Oh my word I know -- every book series I pick up from the 90s has John Peel writing one of the entries!! I was thinking about picking up Frankenturkey II for Thanksgiving 2025 so I can make it a two year tradition at least lol!

She was in a couple of Disney movies like The Monkey's Uncle, and then she also starred in some teen beach movies that weren't from Disney!

Yes! Make a video for your channel on your Oz books! I remember checking some of the white editions out of the library when I was a kid! They're so nostalgic! I haven't read the Dorothy Must Die books but I have heard of them! I don't have any of them yet though. I'll have to keep my eye out for them when I'm used book hunting! Jack Pumpkinhead is one of my faves! I love the design they used for Return to Oz and every Halloween we display the copy of Jack Pumpkinhead of Oz on our shelf in the living room! It's the best.

Yeah, it was a nice read for summer time kind of book. It's interesting because when I read other books that aren't GYG, those are always straight up fun. But these feel more like work because I want to get to every ending possible. So they're enjoyable, but I also don't want to miss anything.

I DID NOT KNOW DR. WHO CYOA BOOKS EXISTED!! Whoa... sorry for the all caps, but I didn't know those were a thing!! Lol - gonna have to go put those on my list now...

Bahahaha! It's definitely a wild book, but the more I've thought about it, the more I kinda liked it. I think it really was the surprise of it being a beach setting made it more likeable to me!

Yeah! I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. Of course some parts of it are really silly, but I actually liked the scenes with the "ritual" and the cats lol

Ohhhh! That's good to know about the Nightmare Hall books! Okay. So I need to find book 1 and then I could dive in anywhere!

Oh! I have heard of those Wishbone Mysteries books, but I haven't seen any in the wild. I've seen some of the regular Wishbone books before. I'll have to keep my eye out for the Mystery ones!! Have you read any??

Yes to Return to Oz! I love that movie! And yes! the hardcover of Wizard of Oz really surprised me because I had never seen one before! I have been thinking about re-reading the books especially with the Wicked movie coming up this year. I think it would be a super fun re-read!

ohhhhh I might really like the series 2000 sequel! I really have loved the Series 2000 books I’ve read so far so that one might work better for me! I think this one the twist came out of nowhere for me and had me really scratching my head wondering what was going on!

I actually haven't read it yet! But I will definitely put it on my list to read coming up soon -- it definitely feels like a good summery Goosebumps book to read. I didn't know it was connected to the Dr. Maniac books!!! I will have to find those ones!

@@ShaunStevensonBooks the attack of the mutant isn’t connected to Dr maniac aside from them both being comic book villains sadly they have never teamed up that really should happen

I love it! I remember the episode of the tv show for that one being soooo wild and awesome. It stuck in my memory for sure.

Oh awesome!!! I definitely gasped when I saw it on the shelf and had to double check! I've noticed there are some kind of scammy reprints that must be print on demand ones that are being made with no spine numbers, but the pages are waaaaay too clean to be original. So I was super excited when I saw that one!!

Yes! I have to resist reading it right now and wait for Halloween!!

Lol! I could DEFINITELY see a Lovecraftian influence on that cover art! What's so wild is those creatures don't even show up in the book at all. But I think the influence could still be there based on the cosmic sci-fi elements in the book that are definitely played up. I know the author is widely read, so I wouldn't be surprised if Cthulhu had an influence on what is going on in the storyline!

Oh my word... some of the endings are REALLY out there. It was interesting though because some of the endings sort of contradict each other as to what is "really happening" in the story.

AGREED. The sibling fighting can get really annoying especially if they're mean to each other. I can't really stand it. Especially in ones like Bad Hare Day. I totally agree about the atmosphere; this is one of those books that had a good sense of dread.

There's a sequel to this one?!? Ohhhhh I need to get that...

It definitely was a lot more intense than other ones - it almost felt like an interesting in between a Goosebumps and a Fear Street book to me. Like a step above other Goosebumps in spookiness.

Thanks! I know! I had never heard of these until I randomly found one in a bookstore last year and was like: wait a minute... what are these?!

They are definitely better written than the SpineChiller's Mysteries series by Fred E. Katz, and yes, I'm still bummed about the Bigfoot book!!

It definitely picked up in the end for me, and book 2 I really enjoyed a lot!

So many people have told me how much they love the Pendragon books! I'll have to add those to my list!!
