Tim I always give you a thumbs up and I am subscribed. Sorry about the spelling of Scratby. Marie
Haha... I know that sign... I walk past it regularly.
It's a great place to live.
I am Canadian and I absolutely love watching you sit hotels across Europe. I’m turning 50 in me and I plan to go back to England. I might stay at the savoy even though they have plastic chandeliers.
Done sir
The plant you wanted to know about is Common Gorse (Ulex europaeus), there are several sub-species, it's commonly used to good to stabilize sand dunes; the problem is the plant is it easily becomes rampant and is difficult to control.
I had a caravan holiday with my mum and dad in California in 1964 - I remember everywhere you went you heard the Beach Boys 'I get around' playing in cafes and on peoples transistors! The caravans weren't so posh in those days or so numerous. We had fish and chips every day - I don't think you could get anything else. In the evening we went for a walk in the nearby countryside where there was a lot of pea picking going on in the fields. Vans with crates of peas would pass by dropping a lot on the road - they were delicious - very sweet. By the time we got back to the caravan it was quite dark and spookily quiet. My school friends were very impressed that I'd been to California - until they found out it was in Norfolk!
Lol great story
They are gorse flowers! Really beautiful
The spiky bush with the yellow flowers is called 'gorse'. It is found all over the UK. A similar plant that's also very common and often found in similar places is called 'broom', however broom unlike gorse is not thorny. Both display those yellow flowers throughout most of the year. There is an old saying that goes, "If gorse and broom is not in bloom, kissing is out of season!" Loving the vids.
very knowledgeable Pete
I walk from Caister-on-Sea to Cali and back most afternoons with my dog. What a place to live.
Agree
When I was little in 1960 we went there for several lovely caravan holidays. We called it California Cliffs. Thank you for letting me see it again.
What a stunning beach, wishing i was there, beautiful vlog as always, well done Tim ♥️👍
Thank you! 😃
Just seen your California video, looks like a really nice place Tim.I have been to California in America with my mum back in 1996,never flown before,it was a once in a lifetime experience.
I like how you call these caravans. In America we would either call these mobile homes or manufactured homes. And the big motor vehicles that you drive that I guess maybe you call campers we call them recreational vehicles or RV’s for short. The only place in California that I believe is worth seeing is northern California, the redwood trees which are the biggest trees and some of the oldest trees in the whole world. Put that on your bucket list it’s absolutely breathtaking.
I remember back in early to mid 80s those beaches at California were always pack during the summer we always used to stop at Claifornia cliffs holiday park I didn't know they had pulled the amusement arcade down used to love that place and also walked the track between California and Caister many times thanks for showing the video
i come here every year, Its beutiful!
Wow really enjoyed that video ,i knew there was a place called California in the UK and coincidently ive just finished reading a book and the little girl was evacuated from London to California during ww 2 and had to ride her bike to Scratby to go to school ,so you can imagine how pleased i was to see you feature both places .
your welcome dawn, many thanks for watching remember to hit subscribe
Whats the name of the book dawn? Please
@@angelaashpole8931 IT IS CALLED THE GINGERBREAD GIRL BY SHEILA NEWBERRY IF YOU ENJOY NOSTALGIA FROM WW2 THEN ITS A BOOK FOR YOU X
Thankyou dawn just my kindvof book😀
There’s more than one California in the U.K. That one looks far nicer than the one near me.
Hi Tim, thanks for taking the time to chat yesterday (as you watered your plants!) we love your work and next time we are up, and if we see you, my son will have to say hi! Like I said, he’s a massive fan….Cheers mate.
Ah Scratby. Stayed there in 1987. It's changed so much. Thanks for covering this area again.
Glad you enjoyed it Andy
Another great vlog, fabulous views across the beach, sand so lovely, so peaceful thanks for this one, very interesting knowledge you have Tim
Wow, 💯 per cent stunning. Tim enjoyed the walk. You certainly picked a lovely day for filming. Love it.💙
Glad you enjoyed it Shirley .. if I had picked a cloudy one it wouldn't have been as good
I live in Southern Cali. This beach does remind me of Zuma Beqch that's near Malibu. It definitely has a Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) vibe. Gorgeous!
Look at that clear blue sky.
I know its beautiful
Lovely holidays here in the 80s , so much as changed . loved your video , brought back lots of good memories . Thankyou
You're welcome Trish
This is the content im here for! Doing it like the first one I watched just over a year ago think was Hemsby in lockdown.
Thanks Mat I still do one video (edited) every Friday and two lives a week
Such a superb video.
Beautifully shot 👏
Thank you for transporting me back through the years to those days when I used to walk there 🙂
your welcome , remember to hit subscribe to see more of my videos when I upload
Great video I love all the history you give on the location's you visit and the Crystal clear quality camera you used to record it on looks so good on my 8k tv.
Glad you enjoyed it thanks yes now shooting in 4k so if it doesn't automaticaly change to 4k and enjoy lol
I have not had a caravan holiday for about 30 years. These caravan parks look first class better than I remember from years ago. Great video Tim.
Totally agree, thanks for watching!
Stayed there two years running, lovely place to stay. I remember the arcade and shop where the new houses are now, also opposite California cliffs ice cream shop arcade and Chinese takeaway. Lovely memories. Thanks Tim
You're welcome malcolm
Got to admit I miss the old arcades in California. I guess it's progress but I think these little places have that 1950's charm about them. I think you mentioned Newport Holiday camp had that 'Are you being Served' feel about it. That's where I'm headed. Great vid.
Yes I know a shame
That walk way down to the beach I remember well from my childhood, i also rember the amusements that used to be where houses now are. Used to stay at California Sands as a child.
Thanks for watching
All the buildings including the chalets looked beautiful in the sunshine.
Everything looks better in the sun
I agree
Stunning beach and the surf is so white too ... What a beautiful day for this walk ... Those are definitley Gorse bushes Tim .... Great video .... Thank you
Thanks paula
Scratby and california woah!!! Good video

What a great walk today and the sky is still blue a year on...
I know lol
California and it’s beach looks amazing - another place to add to the list!
Thank you for showing me such a lovely part of England. I've never been yo Norfolk before, so when I'm back in the UK, Norfolk will be top of my list of places to visit anf stay
You’re welcome 😊
Just to add, I've only just moved here. And still discovering places since lockdown was eased.
Love all you videos, I had never been here before I moved to GY, but felt I knew where I was going because I watched your videos a year before we moved here.. So thank you for making them 😊
Glad you like them! moon shine! means a lot!
Great video Tim. Looks even lovelier in the sunshine than when I last went in the rain lol
Absolutely
great walk and memories. thx Tim
Cheers nick
4:10 Just behind that wooden gate on the right is Dun Sailin', the cottage where we used to stay. Looks like it's been done up a lot since then - it always felt like it was about to fall down back in the 70s. And directly opposite, where there's that poster on the wall, there used to be a second door into the chippy, making it a very short trip.
What a beautiful beach. Great thanks tim. 👍👍
hey Doll, thanks for watching
Thanks Tim...this is one of my favorite places you have gone. 🌸
I know there is not much there its just a lovely area
@@WalkWithMeTim just to walk on the beach on a beautiful day as that and listen to the sea would make me happy Tim.

Hi Tim. Two lovely beaches in one vlog. You are sppoilling us. California and Scrappy. Marie
Scratby lol
Great video Tim, nice day for a walk 🌞although probably a bit chilly at the moment. The beaches look stunning in the sun. I bet they're heaving in the height of summer. Looks like there's miles of beach though to find your own quiet patch😁
yes Julia never crowded!
Another lovely video, making me long for a walk on the beach again.
Glad you enjoyed it John

I’ve been wanting to stay at a holiday park in Norfolk ever since I started watching your vids but couldn’t make up my mind where to go. You're welcome andy
The bushes with yellow flowers are gorse, very hardy and very prickly !
yes I would not want to pick um lol
@@WalkWithMeTim The posh name is "Ulex" and the flowers can give off a smell of coconut. I say can because not everyone can actually smell it. It's a weird biological trick.
Great video as always, coming to California sands caravan park on the 23rd May for one week, love it there.
Have fun! Janet thanks for watching

Hi Tim ,I've been there years ago when I was a kid
Beautiful Tim. I want to go for a walk now on the beach. Sunny and peaceful. It looks like California in the USA. So pretty there. ☀️🇺🇸
thanks Melissa I have been to Malibu and does remind me of it
@@WalkWithMeTim did you like Malibu Tim? So expensive to live there. You guys have such beautiful beaches as well. Is it expensive to rent a place at the holiday park? I find it so charming. ☀️
@@melissaphillips3088 Fly out in the Summer.
Not as expensive as Malibu. It is good value for money and such a different experience.
Direct flights from New York to London.
Best regards
Sam
And all the homeless people and drug addicts😂
Great Vid Tim can’t believe you went into Tuddenham caravan Park where I stay when I come on holiday and you actually passed my caravan it was the one in the corner with the blue roof behind the brown one on the front so annoyed I wasn’t there

Pretty sure it was Summerfields we stayed at when I was a kid in one of the chalets along the main road into the park. Seem to remember spending a lot of time in the arcade they used to have in front of the indoor pool.

Yeap that was summerfields I did a season back in the late 80s on the entertainment team
It's a Gorse bush, yellow flowers in spring and very, very prickly! 🤣

Would love to live in one of the Alma cottages.
I’m going to comment as I see the video. That beach is absolutely beautiful. I’m sure it’s called but it’s beautiful.
