  • just a more descriptive video on the blades i put on this machine, totally worth the money if you have this brush cutter
    Link for blades www.bluediamondattachments.co...
    you can also find single blades on this site
    and the blades are the proper length so you don't need to cut them down at all just need the larger bolt!

    Do u have any idea of how I can replace the gearbox on mine?
    I've tighten the bolts before , and I ran the gearbox without any gear oil.. I'm not sure how to pull it out apart away from the hydraulic pump , so I can replace the new gearbox.

    Hey Logan, Did you have any issues with the Quick Attach pins engaging? It seems mine are like 1/4 inch or less off from lining up. I'm thinking about using the plasma cutter and shaving a hair off the cutter holes. I've had no problems with any other attachment, including the 72 inch Rock Grapple i also got from Ritchie Brothers at the same time.

    • @Logandoucet
      @Logandoucet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never had that issue on any of the attachments I got from the RB auctions.
      But it's Chinese stuff so wouldn't surprise me to much!
      Make sure you check your quick attach as well

    How did you get the bolts to stay firm in the blade carrier. Typically the mounting bolts have a flange so you can not over tighten. (Pinch the blade tight to the carrier). Or did you simply put the bolt in and leave it loose enough to pivot?

    • @Logandoucet
      @Logandoucet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Left loose, that's why I used lock nuts, then they can still swing and not loosen off on you. You could use a shoulder bolt and make the hole on the arms a bit smaller so the shoulder gets tight on the arm and leaves the blade loose, but since this is all special built, I'm not sure if you'd find the right shoulder bolt without getting that made as well

    I’ve got about 5 hours on my wolverine brush cutter. I’ve already lost a blade due to a nut backing off and taking all the threads with it. I replaced it with a better bolt and lock nut and now my arm has snapped beside the blade at the first weld. Looking at a stump jumper set up now.
    Edit: I had issues getting a stump jumper in a timely fashion, I guess due to the Covid. So I took it to a local fabricator and he added some 1/2” steel to replace the 3/8” ends and built the weld way up. If I have further issues, I’ll pursue the stump jumper set up.

      @@kellymcdonald8956 he just cut the arm off where the upper and lower section come together, then added 1/2” steel to build the end of arm back. I didn’t realize the entire arm was bent before I gave it to him. Now I have a bad vibrations that is probably going to eat the gear box. As far as I’m concerned, these things are trash for anything other than grass.

    Hey Mate i am thinking of buying one of these wolverine brush cutter would you recommend them? I would be running it on a CASE 40XT. I would also be going with the large bolt up grade and maybe even reinforce the mounting deck as well.

    • @Logandoucet
      @Logandoucet  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I would recommend it, as long as you can get it at a good price. I paid 1400$cnd for it but have put about 800-1000$ in work into it. The deck itself and mounting plate are pretty good, but the blades and the "arm that holds the blades " aren't tough enough. I got mine all rebuild recently with thicker and wider steel. But for the 2500$ i have invested in it is a lot less then any American brand one

      @@stephenlees9752 I mow up to 4" with it, it works good but you can't keep running forward in heavy brush, you'll have to stop once a bunch falls and I lift the mower up and lower it back on everything to "mulch it" but anything less than 2-3 inch will fall instantly

      @Logandoucet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fill the oil in the gearbox, it comes empty
      Check the bolts that hold the mirror and the gearbox to the deck they tend to loosen off and if possible replace the nuts with nylock nuts
      And like this video shows about blade modification, I'm sure you'll need to do it at some point, I just fixed mine as things broke, the blades themselves that come with it and definitely junk though
      But make sure you check the great box for oil!

    Wish me luck. Im buying one tomorrow for $2700 new. Im going to use a bobcat 863 just to clear 2 acres of brush and grass. Do you recommend this? There are some small 3-5” trees but i dont think i want to use this for it.

    • @Logandoucet
      @Logandoucet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it will do fine, just watch for rocks, if you stick to brush and grass you'll have no problems at all!
      If you do want to tackle the bigger stuff you'll want bigger blades and to strengthen the blade arm

    • @Logandoucet
      @Logandoucet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as the center spline is still good, I would get it rebuild with heavier (wider and thicker) steel I did this with mine at a machine shop. It cost me about 250$ to get it fully rebuilt (Labour is pretty cheap where I'm at)
      Any "replacement" you buy for this would be from China more than likely and the same quality. So I would 100% recommend getting one built as long as the length and height are the same you'd have no issues

    Hey man. I bought the same brush cutter a little while ago. Used it for a half hour on some brush and it locked up on me. I ripped the gear box apart to find the bearing on the output shaft destroyed and the ring and pinion all messed up. Also no oil in mine. Did yours come with oil in it already? Little disappointed paid close to 3k for it and it didn’t even last a 1/2 hour. Now I’m trying to track down a rebuild kit for it

    • @Logandoucet
      @Logandoucet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No more did not Come with oil in the gear box, they usually don't as they come from China, they have to be shipped with no oil.
      Definitely sucks that it ran dry is it just the bearing that blew apart?

      I wish I had of know that... was really disappointed to find this out.
      I bought it from Richie bro’s auction so of course no one told me anything. It messed up 2 of the bearings, and chewed the teeth on the ring/pinion. Unfortunately I’m in for a complete rebuild if I can find the parts or I’ll have to modify it to accept a new gear box/motor

      I no longer own one, I actually sold it when I sold my s185, but it is a direct drive as far as I remember. Most importantly if you get one the gear box will have no oil in it, make sure you fill it before using at all. I probably had 100-200 hours on mine with no issues other than the blades and the blade mount. Gearbox seemed pretty solid. It has a bypass built in so if you stall it it won't hurt anything

    Those nuts should be on top. The bolt should slide from bottom to top. The design is so poor. Nothing but the blades should be engaging the material being cut. No wonder why those bolts, nuts, and washers are flying off.
