Such a beautiful restoration. It brings tears to think what our Lord did for us. The parishioners must be well pleased. Thankyou for saving so many religious items that need your tlc.
Thank you so much Aaroni78! Those who know us are aware that we are both terrified of heights, so that scaffolding was a bit of a white knuckle challenge! We put up the tarp drapes so we couldn't see the floor below! 😆 Thanks for your kind comment!
Unbelievable transformation of a vintage religious work of art. The two of you made this crucifix into a lifelike sacramental. God bless you always 🙏 ❤️
As St-Clement parishioners, we thank you immensely for the great work. The restoration is amazing and truly evokes humility before our very eyes! Sincerely Denis and Karmel :)
The emotional dimension restored with care and consideration - and beautiful musicianship, too, Haley. May God bless you. With prayers for a blessed Lent.
Que trabalho sensível, parabéns por transpor toda essa dramaticidade, que Jesus abençoe a vocês! Que bom que estão postando mais vídeos, vocês são artistas completos!
Thank you June! Yes this one was emotional for several reasons. It’s life-size so it feels more real somehow. It’s our home parish here in Ottawa. And we were working on top of scaffolding which is pretty new and daunting for both of us. But in the end, we are happy that everything worked out well, and particularly happy when we hear that people are engaging more deeply in prayer in front of the Crucifix. It could be quite powerful, especially at the start of Lent. God bless and thank you for your kind comment.
I really like how you explain the full process of the restoration. Though i wonder why many statues got a white wash. Was it supposed to be in reference on how many roman or renaissance statues were not covered with paint? Or was it a more religious thing? Sorry, im not christian myself (but my partner is.)
Thanks very much for your compliment. The question of statues being whitewashed is pretty complicated. Based on some interpretations of the second Vatican Council, some people felt it was a good idea to either whitewash statues, or remove them from churches, or in some horrible cases to take them out into the church parking lot and smash them to pieces. While some would argue the intention was to keep things simpler many of us feel it was a very misguided move, which diminished the reverence and beauty of places of worship. Happily, there are many indications that beauty and reverence are returning to Catholic churches… Especially the more traditional ones. There is plenty written on this subject but I hope I at least gave you a simple overview. Take care.
Thank you Figeon. Sadly, there was quite a widespread trend in the 1960s to remove certain types of beauty from churches, following Vatican II. We’re happy to see that beauty in many forms is returning to so many churches.
THOUGH A BEAUTIFUL RESTORATION, THE TRUE LEVEL OF HIS INJURIES STILL REMAIN HIDDEN. BEING WHIPPED NOT ONLY ON HIS BACK, BUT LEGS ARMS ,FACE AND FRONT OF HIS TORSO, AS WELL AS BEING SCORGED, AS IT WAS NOTED IN ROMAN HISTORY AS EXCESSIVE. UNDERSTANDING THE PHYSICAL DAMAGES INCURRED BY JESUS FOR OUR SINS, ONE CAN ONLY WEEP AT HIS FEET, BEFORE PRAYING, AMEN.🙏💜🔯✡️☦️✝️💜❤️🔥🤍🕊🕊🕊
Thank you for your comment! We agree! In fact, historically nails would often have been driven through the victim's ankles from the sides. Absolutely horrific. We have also restored statues of Jesus with severe and brutal wounds, (see our "Scourged Jesus" video!) primarily for priests' personal chapels. But in this case, that was not the way the corpus was sculpted in 1904. We also consulted with the Pastor on what extent of wounds our artist would depict, and restored the statue accordingly. Thank you again for your compliment. We hope you'll view that other video we mentioned as well. God Bless!
Whoa!!! On site work!!! Super mad respect!!! Incredible details and dedication. 🤯

Thank you Victoria! Our goal was to complete the project and the video in time for the start of Lent, for reflection. Thanks for your kind comments.

Beautiful and sorrowful. Moved me to tears. Thank you for your exceptional work.
Thank you for your very kind comment, Sue. This is our own home parish and it was a great joy to work there (except for the height 🙂)
Wow! This is absolutely amazing. The shoulder marks are so well done.
What was the original intention of whitewashing statues in the past?

Ficou muito lindo
