I love all your videos. I have a fun idea for you two to consider. I call it a frankenblind. You have someone select for each glass two whiskeys that are then combined, in your blind you have to guess which two whiskeys are in each glencairn and rank the frankenstein pour. Seems like it would be fun and different.
My son is very high functioning Autistic and watches these videos with me just to see what tasting notes that Trent gives. Burnt rubber, grassy hay field, Popeye's Chicken delivered by Doordash at 11 pm. He never disappoints.
Englishman in Mexico, I think this is a great show,, family, funny picks and a lot of laughs,, great combo to give us all the best of your channel , keep it going team ,cheers
Such a fun blind with all the kids (and Kent) picking. I've been watching since it was just Kurt and the addition of Trenton has just made it better. Every time I watch a new video, my heart warms to the interaction between you two, and I hope to be as good a step-dad to my son as you are to yours.
You guys had two different Still Austin bottles up. The one you had up while tasting was the cast strength rye, the bottle at the end was the cs bourbon.

I'd love to see a blind of malted ryes that are generally available. I love malted ryes, in general, and they are just not that common compared to other whiskeys.
14:37 Is it different at 10:59 or 11:01? 🤣 21:01 I've never had a bourye, but I do know that bourbon and rye, though both are good, have different characters, and I can't see how they'd please me blended together. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to trying a couple and find that my theorizing is all wet. 🙂
Hi Trenton happy new years to you and your dad. You have definitely drank more ryes than I have but so far the best rye I have tasted is still austin cask strength I've never had michter's so that's on my list . Do you have any more recommendations I'm a regular guy who tries to get the best bang for the buck.
I don’t have any social media accounts, so I’ll post this here. Yesterday I found the single most extensive bourbon assortment for sale I’ve ever seen. All five Pappys, five different E.H. Taylor, Elmer T, the rare Old Fitz. Multiple Bookers in cases, not just single bottles and on sale. If you want it, they have it (for a price). Lady working there said they are the only store in the state with several of their available selections Anyway, if you’re inclined to a one hour road trip, it’s Mega Liquor on Ireland Road just east of Business 31/933 in South Bend. They have another store in Knox that has many of the same ones but not all. And no, I’m in no way associated with them. When I was trying to build my collection I had always hoped someone would help me. Here you go
The best whisky I've ever had was $30. Second and third best (exactly which I'd put where is variable) are in the $50-70 range. None of the expensive stuff I've tried is even close to these.
That Kentucky owl was how much? Not a bottle I’d ever consider. And then it’s disappointing to wow is all I can say. For that kinda cash I could buy enough WT rare breed to last the rest of my life and be happy. 🥃🥃🥃
Kentucky Owl is famous in PA for the same reason Old Saint Nick is. It's an "Allocated" that sits in glass and no one ever buys... it just gives the impression that we actually get allocated whiskey. There are Takumi and Saint Patricks bottles in stores around me that are practically dusties they've been there so long. Everyone I know who tries them thinks it's a $30-50 bottle AT BEST... and they try to get $150, $300, sometimes more for it.
I basically called this order as soon as I knew what was on the block. Maybe I haven't tried the right Still Austin... but I don't love it the way you guys (and many other tubers) seem to. I've tasted a few at Total Wines and it's just fine. Great for the age (most of what I've tried was
I paid $300 for a weller 12 back in 2020...but, it was post Covid and there were several stories around it. Never paid more than that though. $1000...ouch!
You guys should try millam and greene from texas. Their single barrels are really good, sorta reminiscent of blantons but a lot easier of a sip with around the same amount of flavors
Would love to see more outsiders pick your blinds, always some fun angles,, family and friends can have fun too doing it, Rebecca and Grammy ,, just would be hilarious,, the least would be a little payback ,, love the channel ,,
Dixon Dedman never had anything to do with Old Carter. Mark and Sherri Carter were involved with Kentucky Owl early on when Dixon revived the brand. When Mark and Sherri left, they started Old Carter.
Every Kentucky Owl (which is all of 3 lol) I’ve tried was disappointing. Only one I own is the Takumi Ed. cause the store couldn’t sell them at $100 and slashed the price by half
Yeah, I've never had a Kentucky Owl that I liked. In fairness, it's not really Kentucky Owl that filed for Ch. 11 but rather its parent company, the Europe-based Stoli Group. From what I've read, Kentucky Owl itself is still close to being solvent (no pun intended) but that both it and the parent company lack the liquidity to continue to support their operations. They may yet be able to reorganize and find a way to keep operating and Stoli could conceivably sell off the Kentucky Owl brand and raise funds to reduce liabilities elsewhere.
Cool Blind guys. Have you ever done a Legacy Distillers Entry Level Rye blind and then maybe go head to head top 2 vs. Craft or Limited Distro Ryes Entry Level. Now that the NCAA has a 12 team CFP... it makes for a smaller entry bracket. Also, as it is Rye, USA vs. The World.
Unforgotten is the only Master's Keep I've bought, because I got it at the distillery for MSRP. I like it a lot. But it's already pushing the price envelope. The newer ones are just too expensive.
Nancy Fraley does a monthly barrel pick of the CS, available at the distillery and local stores. We're spoiled, because the SiBs even completely outclass the normal CS.
My mom would always say “oh I’m sure it’s fine” but mom the milk is a little chunky:) My son-in-law ate some chicken that my daughter said “me and the kids are getting fast food” he ate it and was sick for 5 days:( For my wife and I if it’s sus we toss it.
I might be persuaded to spend $1000 one time on a George T. Stagg or a William Larue Weller, but only once, and not for any other brand. My personal record is $500 for a 24-year-old Bruichladdich Black Art.
Exactly ttimms2003. I am lucky enough to have one, unopened, waiting for the right occasion. Bought it together with a 22a, which is sadly (or happily) gone.
Gonna ask again. I bet atleast 50% if not more bourbon/whiskey drinkers drink over a rock. You need to pick 10 of your favorites an review how they perform over 🧊 ice.
Price means NOTHING. I can take a very average whiskey, only let a dozen bottles out a year , and voila I have "pappy-eagle-haydin" for $250+ and people chase it all over the country.
Outstanding as always and Merry Christmas guys. That was an outstanding blind and kudos to the family for their picks. Trenton, in the name of all that's holy, please stop the pre-blind smells. It taints your opinion from that point forward and it's truly not a "blind". Name one other legitimate TH-cam whiskey channel where the host or hosts pre-smell the blind. Getting off my soapbox and thank you. Keep up the great work. Cheers & Happy New Year.
I believe that Ky Owl got lumped in with Stoli USA's court filing. Their sales and management of the brand are ok. But had to be included in ch.11 filing to protect them from being foeced to sell off to cover liabilities. But I am not a lawyer, so... grain of salt.
In my house there's no such thing as a drain pour , I'll bitters and simple syrup the the awfulness out of it. I work 2 jobs and there's no way that's happening here.
Just random FYI: Old Carter got sold back to Mark Carter bc they did a silent bid since he and his now ex-wife Sherri got divorced and each wanted the company obviously.
If you want the most disappointing - and quite honestly AWFUL - bottle over $100, find yourself a bottle of Rare Perfection 15. It’s become a joke amongst my drinking group that just gets passed from house to house because no one wants it.
Maybe it’s time for Trenton to invest in some bourbon whiskey nosing kits. These left field comments on smell and taste are entertaining and that’s all. Accurate they are not.
Sorry but Trent’s descriptions of burnt tire and cologne etc. does not help your reviews and seems like he is just dogging them for no reason. Love you guys but this seems to be happening more and more compared to your early videos.
That’s like saying don’t say a whiskey smells like cherry, because there’s no cherry in whiskey. Tasting and nosing notes are unique to everyone, you’re tasting or smelling one thing and your brain associates that with something you’ve tasted or smelled in your past.

Kentucky bourbons vs non Kentucky “bourbon”
Kentucky Owl coming in last and being so expensive is a great description as to why they are going bankrupt.
They tried to position themselves as an ultra premium bourbon brand but fell short. They went Banko.
I think Kurt has already had some “Christmas Cheer.” 😂
My son is very high functioning Autistic and watches these videos with me just to see what tasting notes that Trent gives. Burnt rubber, grassy hay field, Popeye's Chicken delivered by Doordash at 11 pm. He never disappoints.

And let's not forget "tooth dust".

That’s just called a regular person

I'd like to see a blind where old open bottles were up against freshly cracked bottles
name a bottle thats better upon opening than after its spent time half full on the shelf
Sometimes I think Trenton just throws random tasting notes and aromas just to get Kurt to agree 😂🥃
Sometimes !!! Lol
I'm getting some Bloodhound inner ear fungus on this pour.
Garbage? BBQ? Burnout? Cologne? You are dialed in today Trenton! 😂
Merry Christmas everyone!
Shout out schnoz surgery! 😊
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, fellas. Thanks for another great year of content. Cheers!
Merry Christmas & a happy new year to all the family 🎉
A family Christmas blind, great idea. Also, I love that Still Austin CS. An absolute banger of a bottle for ~$52.
Each time I open the SA Cask Strength, it gets better and better, great pour.
Thanks, Merry Christmas 🎄 Cheers 🥃
You guys had two different Still Austin bottles up. The one you had up while tasting was the cast strength rye, the bottle at the end was the cs bourbon.
Trent said Sweet Baby Rays when he smelled the Still Austin, I went straight to smell my bottle and now I can’t get it out of my head!
I love that still Austin bottle, I’ve had 2 and loved both. They are seriously underrated.
Happy Holidays to the Extended SLB family in the peanut gallery. I miss y'all!

Sounds like a good time at the tasting / blind. Video suggestion: Bottles that you have drain poured.
I love WT MK Unforgotten, managed to grab a few bottles. Always a pour on Thanksgiving now.

I've been enjoying the Still Austin Cask Strength I have open, but it's just not worth the $1,000 I paid for it.
