1st and 3rd letters are always the same (O-indicates it was produced at their distillery in Lawrenceburg; S-straight whiskey distillation), 2nd letter will be "B" (higher rye; 60/35/5) or "E" (lower rye; 75/20/5) mashbills, 4th letter is their yeast strain (V-delicate fruit; K-slight spice; O-rich fruit; Q-floral; F-herbal). Can't wait to try them all!
Just to add to what you said, the first O is for Lawrenceburg KY. The recipe code is from the old Seagrams days and L (which MGPs codes start with) stands for Lawrenceburg IN.
Four Roses single barrel has always been one of my go to bottles. I can't wait to try these and I think it will be fun to try different blends to see what they taste like.
Same here. I really hope they release these in the UK. limited releases are hit and miss (still waiting for Wild Turkey 70th. Doubt we'll see it at this point).
Thanks for the review! My favorite shop had these newly stocked, so I tried the OBSF for the tasting notes you guys experienced and you were right on the mark, what a lovely sip!
I love Four Roses for being transparent about their mash bills and how they 'nerd-out' about all the variations. Simple and to the point, let the liquid do the talking 😎 And for $50, readily available? Winners. Whiskey collecting isn't for everyone, most of us want a good bottle right now and have it cost less than a grocery bill 🤓

A couple months ago I picked up a Fours Roses store pick from a local store. 108.2 proof OESF aged 11 years and 4 months. Was so good I went and got a couple extra for back up. $55 each. Good job Four Roses.
12:00 in, I laughed so hard when Kurt messed with Trent. Parents know their kids so well they can twist the nail without thinking. But kids do that 10x better! Here's to family!
I like some of the four roses recipes. Kind of excited about these. OESO and OBSV have been my favorite recipe so far at barrel proof. I'm glad to see these at 100 proof and affordable. Seems a lot of distilleries are putting a lot of effort into unaffordable special / limited releases. Total wine is showing they have these in stock here in Louisville. Might swing bye there later. Also I have a single barrel of Green River from coxs / Evergreen that's literally named T-Whiskey. It's fantastic and does taste like a very sweet tea with brown sugar and barrel char.
The first bottle I ever bought was a 4roses SB and thought it was super cinnamon and hot and 3 years later i tried it again and WOW! Sweet, smooth and delicious
You two!!!! When seen your video pop up and realized 😳 which ones they were...I hauled it across town And bought OESK, OBSF!! Thanks for reminder!! Now to search for OBSO
Four Roses single barrels are some of the best values, still. Near me in NYC, they typically run in the low 40s (sometimes you get a sale for under 40). Fantastic stuff for the price, and I always have a bottle on-hand (and I don't like high rye stuff at all). Excited to try the new releases
You love to see the individual recipes become more accessible. Before this and their tasting kit they released last year, the only way you could try each recipe was by buying barrel picks, which were rare and usually $75-$90. My top 3 recipes are definitely OESO, OBSK, and OESQ, in that order.
had a bottle of the OESO, I thought it was good. I am a big fan of the Regular Single Barrel bottle. Just for the heck of it, I mixed equal parts of the OESO and The off the shelfer (OBSV) let it sit for a few days and drank it. It was really good!
The standard four roses single barrel is widely regarded as the best value on the shelf where I am since we have very limited selection, so the idea of having more recipes of that is something I definitely have to keep an eye on.
OESO is one of my favorite 4R’s combinations along with OESV. BTW, I’m thinking “tea leaves” denotes dried tannins with a hint of bitterness (in a good way). Proofs of these bottles in my cellar are 105 to 107.
I haven't had a to pf Four Roses, but I do like what I have tried. Even their base bourbon is a solid value, I still see her in Seattle for under $25. The single barrels have been amazing. I would like to see a higher proof at the price point, but the quality is solid. When the single barrels and small batch start hitting the shelves, I run to Costco.
I think OBSF would be my favourite too although the plum fruitiness on the OESK sounds great… even the OE… okay, I’m going to have to get all 3 😂 thank you guys for the great review, I didn’t know about these releases before watching!
I've found the Four Roses Small Batch Select has been a good one to introduce people to bourbon. Have the 10 bottle mini-sampler and these releases are great!
For Trenton, if you haven't had tea leaf, try to find a Burmese restaurant and try the tea leaf salad. It's typically made with fish sauce, but if you want more of just the tea leaf ask if it can be prepared without fish sauce. Thanks for the video and helping decipher the 4 Roses letters.
I did my own series of blinds the past year that my wife set up for me 2-3 bourbons at a time...of 10 bourbons all $45 or less in my market in NC and all high rye mash bills (no wheaters). I picked Russells 10 and 4 roses SB as my favorites.
Amazing how the yeast strain changes the nose and taste so much......and depending on availability of certain yeasts, one has to wonder if this may be the reason some of your previous favourite bottles fell out of favour, or seemed like they dont taste the same as you remember older editions?
Exactly 🤣💯 delicious cheese cake and delicate Chicken Alfredo sauce, fruity and sweet at the same time, love it, especially when it comes from our number one host.
O is the distillery location. E/B is low rye vs high rye. S is straight. Then the last letter VKOQF is one of 5 yeast strains tilted toward a tasting note.
Been looking everywhere for new ones!! Love 4 roses 🌹 and affordable there doing it right not everyone has 500 + for bourbons!! I always put 4 roses up with reg blantons !! And alot cheaper!!
Four Roses might be my favorite Distillery but it's for sure in my top 3 I agree and think the Single Barrel of Recipe 1 OBSV is one of if not the best value in bourbon. I also have a Single Barrel Gold Label of Recipe 2 OBSK and literally just got a Gold Label pick of Recipe 9 OESQ. Which Recipe 9 is my favorite recipe. But Four Roses is probably my favorite distillery that doesn't do any finishing or unique wood aging. They're just pure OG Bourbon and it's probably my favorite, I generally only go for finished bourbons or ones with unique oak finishings now.
Good move for Four Roses. Big fan of their 10 recipe barrel strength releases. Made more than a few trips to the distillery to snag a few of these special bottles. Now we can get 3 more single barrel versions at our local retailers. Not barrel strength, but still tasty!
Great line up at a great price. Would love to see a review of the new Barrell Foundation 5 year "Double Barreled". It just dropped near me in Cali for $44.00 on sale reg. $50. As always love the content
In the early 60s when buying under the counter due to being underage in college. Usually, in SC, you would be handed Four Roses. I read somewhere that in those years, they exported their best products to Europe and sold the rest in the U.S. I guess that has changed but at age 83….i still can’t bring myself to choose a Four Roses bottle.
Just to let you all know I found myself in a large club liquor store chain in the Chicagoland area and they had a kit with all 10 recipes. Each one is 1.69 Oz. It was not cheap, but it will beat buying a whole bottle that I might not like.
So I'm in a store on Monday........I see one of these new releases. $59 vs $49 for the standard single barrel....so no big deal, thanks to the liquor store for keeping it reasonable and not heaping a secondary price on these like they do with all the other hard to find bottles. BUT......there were 3 labels on the shelf.....old single barrel label.........new OESO.......and the NEW single barrel label...........WTF....I picked up the NEW single barrel label........I was upset when I got home.....but then again not upset....the single barrel product is delicious, and I feel like these will be easier to find and acquire. Can you imagine seeing $49-$59 for these and having a Weller SR sitting next to it for $99? Cheers and great review!
Thanks for the review guys. I've had all three of the releases and prefer the OESO. With that said I don't find any of them appreciably better than the standard OBSV single barrel (a great value). Problem is in my market the red labels are $10 more than the standard. I'm not sure if this is an SRP issue or just retailers premiumizing a new product. So yes it's great to have choice between the recipes, but once the launch has passed I expect prices to equalize.
These hit one Total Wine one hour from me and the OESO offering got scooped up. Then got put on secondary for double MSRP. Hoping these become more readily available.
The 4R SiB are bangers. I just have a hard time paying $120 for them. The few times I bought them, I found them at Costco and Sam’s. Last year I paid $65 at Sam’s club. Worth it.
1st is distillery, O is for Other Lawrenceburg (normal Lawrenceburg is MGP) 2nd is mashbill 3rd is straight 4th is Yeast Strain These go back to Seagram's days. There is a a distillery they used to own in Canada that uses K for the code.
3 new bottles, 3 unique recipes. Which Four Roses Single Barrel do YOU think will be the standout? Tell us in the comments below! 🥃
Just to add to what you said, the first O is for Lawrenceburg KY. The recipe code is from the old Seagrams days and L (which MGPs codes start with) stands for Lawrenceburg IN.
A blind between these three and the flagship single barrel would be fun to watch.
I actually like OESO more than what they perceived.
Four Roses single barrel is what started me on my bourbon journey. Hopefully I can find these soon.
Same with me!
Same. Four Roses is a fantastic whiskey.
Trenton doesn’t care for Wild Turkey or 4 🌹. Does he even like Bourbon? I kid….
The mayor of Lawrenceburg won't be giving him the keys to the city anytime soon.
To be fair, he's more of a rye guy.
👆 this is why I don’t understand why he doesn’t like 4 Roses - often drinks closer to a Rye
@@markbowerii7632Before he was a rye guy, he was a wheated bourbon guy. His palate makes zero sense lol

Thanks for the review! My favorite shop had these newly stocked, so I tried the OBSF for the tasting notes you guys experienced and you were right on the mark, what a lovely sip!

Great video! Just what I was wanting to see, thanks guys!
They're doing all ten... I can't wait for OESV.
100% this
A couple months ago I picked up a Fours Roses store pick from a local store. 108.2 proof OESF aged 11 years and 4 months. Was so good I went and got a couple extra for back up. $55 each. Good job Four Roses.

I have OBSF 11 yr store pick and I absolutely love it
I like some of the four roses recipes. Kind of excited about these. OESO and OBSV have been my favorite recipe so far at barrel proof. I'm glad to see these at 100 proof and affordable. Love four roses I’m excited to try the OBF. Sounds like an amazing new project from four roses
🎉 Let’s see an all 4Roses LE blind!!!
The first bottle I ever bought was a 4roses SB and thought it was super cinnamon and hot and 3 years later i tried it again and WOW! Sweet, smooth and delicious
Four Roses SB is one of my absolute favorite bottles in my home bar.
I love four roses single barrels. I’m stoked
I have the OESO and really have enjoyed it.
Very funny because most people chase the OESO single barrel barrel proof bottles, interesting to see how they taste proofed down.
Thanks for doing this review! I've been wondering about each of these
bought the OESK today and looking forward to a nice taste of it.
It's amazing I love it 😋🥃🌹
Will pick up one today. Thanks for the video
You two!!!! When seen your video pop up and realized 😳 which ones they were...I hauled it across town
And bought OESK, OBSF!! Thanks for reminder!! Now to search for OBSO
Just got the OBSF cant wait to try it
I find the single barrel, barrel strength picks to be my favorite version of these. Quite a bit more expensive, but very nice.
OBSF is absolutely the best just off the profile alone. The notes are delightful. Was glad to get my bottle last week.
I got the OESO single barrel barrel proof a few months ago, beyond good one of my favorites in my collections
That’s good to know. I purchased the same bottle at the distillery but haven’t opened it yet.
OESO is typically fruit forward. My favorite recipe
excited to try them!
I like the four roses single barrels a lot. And 100 proof is my palate’s wheelhouse. Can’t wait for these!
Four Roses single barrels are some of the best values, still. Near me in NYC, they typically run in the low 40s (sometimes you get a sale for under 40). Fantastic stuff for the price, and I always have a bottle on-hand (and I don't like high rye stuff at all). Excited to try the new releases
Two bottles on the way, and now I'm even more excited to try them.
Trenton's brain almost melted when you said yeast strain V 😂😂😂
Yeasty V
You love to see the individual recipes become more accessible. Before this and their tasting kit they released last year, the only way you could try each recipe was by buying barrel picks, which were rare and usually $75-$90. My top 3 recipes are definitely OESO, OBSK, and OESQ, in that order.
Just picked up the oesk tastes like straight up cherries, with a hint of vanilla at the end. Delicious stuff
Great news …4RSB has been a great value and great bourbon..cant wait to try these
Was lucky enough to pick up these three down here in Florida. Always enjoy new releases
had a bottle of the OESO, I thought it was good. I am a big fan of the Regular Single Barrel bottle. Just for the heck of it, I mixed equal parts of the OESO and The off the shelfer (OBSV) let it sit for a few days and drank it. It was really good!
I saw these the other day and it tripped me out. I ended up getting an ECBP C924 for $60. Thanks for the review!
Had OBSF and OESK enjoyed both, the OBSF you really do get a green apple. Tried side by side and preferred OBSF but both excellent $50 bottles
This is exciting! One of my favorite distilleries! I will most certainly be picking up all 3 of them. For $50, I might grab a few of each!
I cannot wait to try these. The OBSV single barrels that I have been getting from Costco & total wine are delicious.
I got an OESO, OHLQ select single barrel barrel strength in November. 110.4 proof. Pretty good!
One of the quintessential bourbon channels on the tube atm.
Awesome news! Four Roses is probably my favorite distilleries.
The standard four roses single barrel is widely regarded as the best value on the shelf where I am since we have very limited selection, so the idea of having more recipes of that is something I definitely have to keep an eye on.
Great review, I will be checking them out 🥃 Cheers
Thank you Kirk for the v 😂😂I was thinking that you should tell him the wrong one
OESO is one of my favorite 4R’s combinations along with OESV. BTW, I’m thinking “tea leaves” denotes dried tannins with a hint of bitterness (in a good way). Proofs of these bottles in my cellar are 105 to 107.

Just picked up OESO didn’t know much but notes on back sounded good. Didn’t find much on TH-cam. Thanks for posting.
I'm excited about these!
I have the OBSF and love it. I get a little wood along with the apple & chocolate
Bought the OBSF locally in December.... love it.... bought OBSV at the Distillery in October... its just as tasty ! But OBSF is a favorite!
I think OBSF would be my favourite too although the plum fruitiness on the OESK sounds great… even the OE… okay, I’m going to have to get all 3 😂 thank you guys for the great review, I didn’t know about these releases before watching!
Snagged an OBSF this morning thanks for the heads up!
Four roses is not boring costanza. They are amazing.
I've found the Four Roses Small Batch Select has been a good one to introduce people to bourbon. Have the 10 bottle mini-sampler and these releases are great!
Near me in NJ, all three varieties are being sold for $44.99...excited to try the OBSF I just picked up.
If it wasn't for Four rose's single barrel barrel select I would of never dug deeper into bourbon. Still a solid pour for my tastes
Have you guys ever tried 5 Roses?
For Trenton, if you haven't had tea leaf, try to find a Burmese restaurant and try the tea leaf salad. It's typically made with fish sauce, but if you want more of just the tea leaf ask if it can be prepared without fish sauce. Thanks for the video and helping decipher the 4 Roses letters.

Hope to see these big Four Roses fan. Always have them on my bar!! 🥃🥃🥃
Nice review! Local Sam’s sells the standard single barrel for 36.00 bucks always in stock. Looking forward to giving them a try! Cheers!
Amazing how the yeast strain changes the nose and taste so much......and depending on availability of certain yeasts, one has to wonder if this may be the reason some of your previous favourite bottles fell out of favour, or seemed like they dont taste the same as you remember older editions?
Four Roses putting out something new and affordable is a big W!
I’m moving to Indiana. $99.99 in NJ. But I still will try the other 2. Still enjoying OESO since Christmas.
Exactly 🤣💯 delicious cheese cake and delicate Chicken Alfredo sauce, fruity and sweet at the same time, love it, especially when it comes from our number one host.
I picked up 2 in MO for 42.99 and can't wait to try them next to the same barrel Proof bottles
O is the distillery location. E/B is low rye vs high rye. S is straight. Then the last letter VKOQF is one of 5 yeast strains tilted toward a tasting note.
Four Roses Single Barrel is one of my top bottles at the bar
I picked up the OESO.
The only Four Roses I will buy is pretty much whenever I see a single barrel barrel proof pick…those are damn good.
OESO for the win 💪
Been looking everywhere for new ones!! Love 4 roses 🌹 and affordable there doing it right not everyone has 500 + for bourbons!! I always put 4 roses up with reg blantons !! And alot cheaper!!
Four Roses might be my favorite Distillery but it's for sure in my top 3
I agree and think the Single Barrel of Recipe 1 OBSV is one of if not the best value in bourbon. I also have a Single Barrel Gold Label of Recipe 2 OBSK and literally just got a Gold Label pick of Recipe 9 OESQ. Which Recipe 9 is my favorite recipe. Looking forward to trying these. Cheers you two. Imagine that....Trent likes the one with the highest percentage rye......who would have thought.
I picked up 2 bottles of SB barrel strength (OBSK) for $68 each @ Sams Club. I doubt I will ever find it again for that cheap!
Great line up at a great price. Would love to see a review of the new Barrell Foundation 5 year "Double Barreled". It just dropped near me in Cali for $44.00 on sale reg. $50. As always love the content
Finally first comment!! You guys are great! Cheers!
Cool ... I have a OESQ SB store pick that is 10 years 7 months that I haven't opened yet ... I'll give it a try this weekend.
I’ve been looking for reviews on these!
4 roses is very solid, and overlooked. Solid $50 sipper
Just to let you all know I found myself in a large club liquor store chain in the Chicagoland area and they had a kit with all 10 recipes. Each one is 1.69 Oz. It was not cheap, but it will beat buying a whole bottle that I might not like.
4roses is delicious definitely need to try the sf
Can't wait to pick up an OESO at Total Wine later this week. I've become a big fan of the OBSV, prefering over the SBS.
You guys should’ve tried the original single barrel next to the new ones
The 4R SiB are bangers. I just have a hard time paying $120 for them. The few times I bought them, I found them at Costco and Sam’s. Last year I paid $65 at Sam’s club. Worth it.
This is exciting to me as I’ve yet to even find a barrel proof single barrel; maybe these will be easier to come by and try the recipes?!
Side note try Buffalo Trace and half old forester 100 ..thanks for what you do!
1st is distillery, O is for Other Lawrenceburg (normal Lawrenceburg is MGP)
2nd is mashbill
3rd is straight
4th is Yeast Strain
These go back to Seagram's days. There is a a distillery they used to own in Canada that uses K for the code.
