Kalos doesn’t slack when it comes to good gym design either. Regardless of what you think of the challenge presented in battle, or lack of, most gyms have unique visual identity. Olympia’s gym is not one you’ll forget for aesthetic, putting a twist on the warp tile puzzle by having it be interlocking pieces of a layered globe like structure.
If they had made one change to the spikemouth challenge it definitely would've been my favorite. The idea of making your way through a town filled with what you think is the evil team only to realize that it was actually the gym challenge all along just seems so cool. It does suck that the town itself is just one hallway (when they could've made it a maze of back alleys) but I have to give them the credit on the idea.

I like the puzzle but i always fight all of the gym trainers for exp because its better than running back and forth in the grass fighting wild Pokemon for it, so if a puzzle makes this objective difficult i get annoyed. (But the puzzle for Lt. Surge in gen 3 is just awful and litterally pure luck making him the worst gym puzzle in Pokemon)
Honestly, I think I love all the gyms in bw2. The first I love the atmosphere of the school, like Cheren work to own it. The second is way cooler with is music. The third feels way to relaxing, loving it. The fourth is way better than in bw1, the fifth is also a big improvment and those ore, it makes light! The sixth is really a fun maze. The seventh is just really awsome in comparison with The other dragon type gym in The previous game. And The Last one is really really marvelous. Tbh bw2 are just the best.
Yeah. IMO; Gen. 5 has the best gyms. There isn't an single one that I hate or thinks it's dull. The only one that I think my be my least favorite is Opelucid City Gym in BW1 cause it's just choosing if u prefer offense or defense battles and rotates or triple battles. BW2 fixes that gym. But even the one in BW1 is still decent.
Elesa's gym in BW2 will forever be my top 1 gym. The atmosphere, the amazing music, the runway, Elesa's beautiful and stylish look, and her annoying pokemon. 10/10 gym
Elesa’s BW2 Gym hands down. Sure it’s puzzle consists of “Walk Forward and battle a Trainer”, but it’s concept and personality makes up for it tenfold. The idea of walking on a catwalk in front of thousands of fans fits Elesa’s role as a Model, and the music coming to a climax with that “Give me what I need!” when Elesa is revealed is in your face, flashy, and electrifying. The icing on the cake has to be Elesa and her crew walking with you down the catwalk after probably the most difficult gym battle in Unova. In all it’s a gym with so much personality and charm that reflect’s Elesa’s personality perfectly.
How was that a difficult battle? My sandile was level 21 and killed her level 31 zebra Pokemon in 2 moves and one shotted her flaffy. Only her emolga was killed by my starter who was at the same level. It's an extremely easy gym. I'd say that the dragon gym is much harder but that's probably because I didn't have an ice type or used an ice move
@@achyuththouta6957 I mean, it's pokemon, so it's not hard, but it is harder than most of the gyms out there, since if you are not prepared with a good ground type she might sweep some members of your team
Honestly, I think Unova has the best gyms out of all the franchise. Both aesthically, the designs of it, Gym Leaders having great personality & battles, the battle themes are great and has different theme for each gym; particularly in Black 2 & White 2. There's no gyms in Gen. 5 that I legitimately hate or think it was dull. They're all so good.
Marlons gym is my my absolute fav gym. Has the best gym theme imo and is visually pleasing. It also makes you feel like you wanna just relax close your eyes and just listen to the music. Plus water type is my fav type and you get 1 of the best water type moves as the tm reward being Scald.
My favorites are basically based solely on aesthetics because that’s a huge thing for me. Kanto: Celadon in HGSS because of the greenhouse design. Also love Cerulean in HGSS and Saffron Let’s Go. Johto: It’s a simple design, but I’ve always loved both designs of the Azalea Gym. Blackthorn is also great and Mahogany in HGSS. Hoenn: Sootopolis because of the theme. Also love Fortree in ORAS. Sinnoh: Eterna. Love both the forest maze and especially the clock design in Platinum. Hearthome in Platinum and Sunyshore are great as well. Unova: Humilau is my favorite because I love Water-types and the gym is just designed beautifully. Also love the BW1 versions of Nimbasa and Mistralton with the roller coaster and cannons. Kalos: Coumarine. Love the idea of climbing up a giant grass jungle gym. Also love Laverre and Cyllage. Anistar would be great if the paths branched out more. Galar: Not a huge fan of most of them. Hulbury at least feels like a gym and the teacup game in Stow-on-side is kind of cool. I want to say Ballonlea because it’s such a cool looking town, but the gym was a letdown.

I am still not over the fact that Opal punishes you for answering a question correctly.
my favourite Gyms based on their Puzzle Kanto: Koga/Janine and their invisible wall Johto: Chuck's dojo, where we should stop the water flow to let him hear us Hoenn: Winona and her turbine doors, I genuinely confused the first time I challange her in Ruby Sinnoh: Candice, just like yours Unova: Skyla's canon in Black & White Kalos: Olympia and her maze Alola: Ryuki's Kantonian Gym Galar: Nessa and her waterpipe based on aesthetic Kanto: Sabrina's Gym in Let's Go games Johto: Morty's Gym in Heart Gold Hoenn: Brawly's Gym, which is an actual Gym in Alpha Sapphire Sinnoh: Byron's Gym Unova: Elesa's Catwalk Gym in Black 2 & White 2 Kalos: Grunt's Gym, just like yours Alola: Ryuki's Kantonian Gym Galar: Kabu's Gym based on the Gym Leader Kanto: Erika Johto: Falkner Hoenn: Tate & Liza Sinnoh: Volkner Unova: Roxie Kalos: Korrina Alola: Ryuki's Kantonian Gym Galar: Piers, the first Dark Type Gym
I don’t know how this guy randomly popped up on my recommended but I totally LOVE your videos and the way their made with the perfect mix of joke, opinions, listings etc. Definitely earned my like and Sub. Keep it up!
Like the sentiment of most commenters here Unova takes the best gyms with their unique design as buildings with secondary purpose (reflecting their other jobs, unique theme (BW2) also their leaders somewhat proactivity outside their gyms). And play BW2 on challenge mode, much much better.
It’s pretty funny that Steel and Dark type were introduced in Gen 2, only the former got a gym and when Fairy types were then introduced, it also got a gym in the same region. Seriously, were Dark types chopped liver or something?
Dark types trainers got decent coverage as Elite Four members at least, even if Gen II didn’t have enough Dark types to have a full dark type roster for Karen. Hoenn’s Elite Four had Sidney and Unova Grimsley, and an island kahuna in SM/USUM uses Dark types (which as the gym leader counterpart kinda counts if you see it that way). But did rock type need so many gym leaders?
In Japanese the dark type is literally called "the evil type" which is why it was hard for them to come up with a dark type based and gym leader that wasn't the evil team until the stories got more complex and characters more creative. And yeah, I know there are elite 4 members, but they're final bosses rather than "guides" on our journey, so.
My picks for the best gyms. Same rules apply but it doesn't need to be challenging OR a puzzle for me to like it. Gen 1: Pewter City Gym Simple but very aesthetically pleasing. Not to mention its the first gym in the series (unless you skip Brock because Gen 1 RBY were broken messes) Gen 2: Ecruteak City Gym Despite how frustrating it is to fall, the gimmick of having to navigate through the dark without falling is amazing when you get the hang of it. Plus, Morty is the most balanced Gen 2 Gym Leader imo. Not to easy like Chuck or Falkner but not overly hard like Whitney or Clair. Gen 3: Lavaridge City Gym The puzzle is very implemental of Lavaridge's hot spring gimmick. Sure, Flannery's a joke, but I still like the whole aesthetic of the Gym, especially with the overhanging steam. Gen 4: Eterna City Gym I love the forest maze in DP and the way the flower moves like a clock in Platinum is entertaining. Plus, for a Grass Type Gym Leader, Gardenia does pose a decent challenge with Roserade (unless you use Chimchar) Gen 5: Opelucid City Gym DRAGON STATUES! I don't need to say anything else. Gen 6: Courmarine City Gym While Ramos is an absolute joke (then again, so are all the Kalos Gym Leaders) I LOVE the design and aesthetic of this gym. In fact, the same applies to all the Kalos Gyms. Gen 8: Spikemuth City Gym This one wins because its the first Dark Type Gym. That and Piers is amazing, as is Marnie, who becomes Gym Leader in the post-game. Update: Paldea: Glaseado Gym I love the minigame. It reminds me of Empoleon's Snow Slide from Poképark Wii
Here's My Favorite Gym in every Game I Played: BW2: Castelia City. Let's Go: Celadon City. Sw/Sh: Stow-On-Side. (I'm not judging these on Challenge. Though Burgh Definitely Gave me some Trouble.)
While Sw&Sh is not particularly my favorite game I would say I do respect Kabu's gym for one you get to catch your own fire type Pokémon in these challenges and when fighting Kabu he's the first one in Galar you face that has a Gigantamax Pokémon.
Raihan was anticlimatic but he was fun too. He was actually one of the only gym leaders to have defeated me, I always cap my pokemon to match the number of pokemon that gym leaders use like the anime. So it was worth it beating him. My Cinderace lost to him twice, leaving some other pokemon to defeat him in the gym rematch. But Cinderace was finally able to defeat Duralodon in the Championship, so it was like a little rivarly.
I gotta say pastoria beats candice for me. A decent challenge, fun puzzle, plenty of variety and my favourite look among them. The water level makes it one of the most dynamic around and a lot closer to gen 5s top tier gyms than a lot of sinnoh
Special shoutout to Black & White's Opelucid Gym. Definitely one of if not the coolest looking gyms from the original games, and the dragon maze was a really cool gym puzzle.
For hoenn lavaridge gym. I remember I had to ask friends how to clear it and avoid that overpowered trainer in it. But skyla's I BW2 are challenging and fun at the same time
I really like Anistar City gym for it's really trippy space aesthetics. Other than that, pretty much any of them from Gens 4 and 5. I think gyms peaked in those generations (as did a lot of stuff).
Here are my favourites from each Gen: Kanto: Giovanni as it was a good plot twist, even if it was easy. Johto: Morty because he's an intriguing individual. Hoenn: Tate and Liza as double battle makes it unique and different. Sinnoh: Crasher Wake because of personally and actually had a good team composition. Unova: Clay because he was a great mid game challenge and he is a character I really like from the games. Kalos: Korrina because you actually had development with the character. Alola: Hapu because of team diversity and character development. Galar: Piers because he doesn't use dynamax and you get to learn about him better throughout the story.
agree with you on grant, friggin loved that! the rock climbing wa kinda fun, and that was sort of a challenge. thought I would easily sweep the team with my grass and water aces, but oh no, that takedown plus refrigerate ability shocked the heck out of me. I was like, takedown? that’s one weak move. come to find that was super effective against my grass types. I’m like, what? how the heck that get a super effective hit!
I love that in the snowpoint gym in the new remakes for Sinnoh you can just go straight across the gym and then try to walk up diagonally and it will let you.
Eyo finally another snowpoint gym ice puzzle enjoyer 😎😎😎 it seems like a lot of people don’t like it because they found it too difficult/tedious but it was always my favorite gym because i always thought the puzzle was really fun. imo flannery’s gym in emerald always felt way more annoying to navigate through than the ice puzzle because warp tile puzzles suck when all the rooms look the same and you have bad memory.
@@jaretco6423 that's the catch - I don't enjoyed BW . I think if I liked my playthrough of White, I'd probably try Black2, but White was the least visually appealing Pokemon game I've ever played (awkward mix of 3D and 2D, constantly breaking and morphing sprites...) and a lot of new Pokemon designs were awful to look at. Alola and Galar have my two least favorite pokemon (Eiscue and Mimikyu), but Unova on average have the worst bunch - three identical monkeys, trash bags, ice creams, gears, snowflake, Bert and Ernie in taekwondo clothes, two identical buff men legendaries with third being Black version exclusive, Machop line rip-offs, Poliwag line rip-offs, Geodude line rip-offs and the most painful one - not a good regional bird (I love Pidgeot, Fearow, Noctowl, Swellow, Pelipper, Staraptor, Toucannon and Corviknight and Talonflame is literally my most favourite pokemon of all 900+ I want a shoulder tattoo with Talonflame, it was painful to see people use something as dissapointing as Unfezant in Unova, especially a boring female Unfezant)... I don't even like one starter line as a whole - I hate Snivy and Servine, I hate Oshawott and I hate Emboar. If I want my brilliant Serperior or Samurott, I'm forced to pick the starter I don't like and level it up to 17 or even 36. If I want to pick my cute Tepig - I'm forced to give my Pignite an everstone. Unova is the worst...
Koh. Well that's fine. I whole hardly disagree with alot of things u say about Unova being the worst, having worst Pokemons and all of that. But your entitled to your own opinion.
Almost predicted all your favorites. Missed Unova (cause I still haven't gotten around to finishing the sequels) and had Raihan's gym as your Galar choice.
I gotta disagree about Circhester in Galar. Yes it's fun the first time and it's a cool aesthetic, I think it becomes the most annoyingly tedious gym challenge in the region after the first playthrough. I think Stow-on-side's gym, primarily in shield, takes the cake for me. It's fun every time, even if fairly easy, and the Ghost gym leader to me might be the toughest gym fight in Galar if you haven't planned your team specifically for it. Just my opinion though! I still love Circhester, just not my favorite personally.
The striaton gym in bw1 is such missed opportunity to have been a triple battle gym. They could have made it the 2nd or 3rd gym if they didn't want to have the new battle style right off the bat but it seems gamefreak abandoned the idea as soon as they thought of it with barely having any triple battles in bw1. Same with rotation battles. They added a few more battles in bw2 and added new gym leaders which they could have made into triple or rotation battle gym leaders like tate and liza being a double battle in gen 3. Hopefully gen 5 remakes can make striaton a triple battle but I doubt it.
I don´t think Melony is stronger than Gordie. Sure, she has won againts Raihan but Gordie is stated to be considered one of the most likely candidates to be a future champion in the Galar region and has a huge fan club. But I do agree that the gym mission for that gym is awesome. Bea´s gym mission is also pretty fun and I think it fits better than with Allister.
Ngl I kinda like when a gym doesn’t focus so much on battles, I’d take the quiz’s in Blaine’s and Clemont’s gym instead of just constant trainer battles
In Black 2 after finishing the league I was exploring the Gyms and when I was in Clay's Gym turns out that I missed one trainer and I defeat him easily.
Cyllage City (Grant) is definitely, definitely the hardest gym in X and Y. To be honest, for a long I stopped playing at the 7th gym and was kind of shocked when people said XY were too easy, I thought Grant was really difficult, I could not get past Tyrunt with my Greninja. Also it takes forever to get from the first to the second gym, it's literally like Vermillion-Celadon length.
I'd like to ask: for the worst gyms, are you gonna ignore gyms that are basically straight corridors with 2 trainers blocking your way? Because that might make up the entirety of the video and it might be boring...
For worst gyms, my Kanto vote is for Vermillion. Not only do you need to make the SS Anne detour if you haven’t traded over a Pokemon with Cut (or you decide until you’ve beaten Koga and jumped though the hoops to get Surf), but the puzzle itself is entirely luck based in how randomised it is. Relying on trial and error simply to proceed isn’t good gym design, and when past experience counts for nothing in navigating faster it’s very bad gym design. At least you can memorise where the walls of the Fuschia city gym maze are, and which direction titles to take in Viridian.
my only deviation is in Jotho where my favorite is the ice-gym simply because I like the type of puzzles and his team is really not to be underestimated as just going in using a fighting type really is not the best idea. Yes, pillowsine does suffer from ice not being physical in gen 2 and I wish he would at least carry a sneavile, but it's a fun gym regardless.
Kanto: Viridian City. This gym is quite aesthetically pleasing as both a mysterious, difficult gym and the lair of Team Rocket’s Boss. Johto: Ecruteak City. Similar reasons to you, its atmospheric and actually difficult, which is hard to say for many of the gyms. Hoenn: Sootopolis City (Gen 3). Same reasons stated in the video. Lavaridge Town (Gen 6). This gym is far more interesting to look at in my opinion, and it uses the location well, that being next to an active volcano. Sinnoh: Snowpoint City (DP/BDSP). Same reasons in the video Hearthome City (Pt). This gym is TERRIBLE in the DP versions of Sinnoh, but is amazing in Platnium. My reasoning is similar to the Ecruteak City reasoning. Unova: Nimbasa City (BW). This gym is simply fun. Roller Coasters, Neon Lights everywhere, and a leader that needs proper strategy to beat. Castelia City (B2W2). Now THIS is how you make a Pokémon Gym. A unique gimmick and that gimmick relates to the typing of the leader, plus how it relates to Burgh’s profession? Kalos: Cyllage City. You took the words on why i liked it right out of my mouth. Galar: Spikemuth. I love the East London aesthetic of the area. Piers is also a great leader. The gym mission is alright, not as good as Motostoke or Circhester, but the area makes up for it completely.
Also the only mandatory trainer in the gym mission in Circhester is actually the one with just Snom in the Shield version, Sword replaces him with a more competent Boldore, though neither it nor Gordie's Shuckle has Sturdy. Melony is indeed the better gym leader in Circhester, and it's mainly the Eiscue and gigantamax Lapras. Ironic that I had to grind Scorbunny to level 70 just to even have a chance against Melony for precisely this reason.
I like that Sabrina gym is the pick here but my only problem there is that the panels should be coloured after steling them to make a guide which panels leads where to navigate the rooms more easily since many players would go fight everybody before the leader. Edit it is stepping not stelling or stealing
Here’s my favorite Gym for each region. Kanto: Sabrina (Saffron City) Johto: Probably Clair (Blackthorn City) Hoenn: Either Winona (Fortree City) or Norman (Petalburg City) Sinnoh: Either Platinum Fantina (Hearthome City) or Volkner (Sunyshore City) Unova: I’ll split this into 2 Black/White 1: Drayden/Iris (Opelucid City) (Special mention for Cilan/Chili/Cress (Striaton City) for having a great and unique premise) Black/White 2: Burgh (Castelia City), Elesa (Nimbasa City) (MUCH better in this game than in the first one!!) Clay (Driftveil City), Skyla (Mistralton City), Drayden (Opelucid City), and Marlon (Humilau City) (A personal favorite Gym if I may say) Kalos: Grant (Cyllage City), Korrina (Shalour City), Valerie (Laverre City) (Valerie is my all time favorite Gym Leader), and Olympia (Anistar City) (Winner of most beautiful Gym I’ve ever seen) Galar: Bea/Allister (Stow-on-Side), Gordie/Melony (Circhester City), and Piers (Spikemuth) And here’s my least favorites as well!! Kanto: Lt. Surge (Vermillion City) (Hate the finding switches in garbage cans mechanic!!) Johto: Whitney (Goldenrod City) (Whitney is probably the most annoying Gym Leader of all time to beat!!) Hoenn: Wallace/Juan (Sootapolis City) (Very annoying puzzle to try and complete.) Sinnoh: Candice (Snowpoint City) (Easily my least favorite Gym mechanic of all time that had to make me search up a guide to figure out the puzzle!! Fighting Candice is the only good part of this Gym. I’m going to gate getting to this part in the remakes lol!! 😂) Unova: Black/White 1 is either Elesa (Nimbasa City) (Elesa was MUCH better in the sequels) or Lenora (Nacrene City) (Very annoying Gym Leader to beat.). And Black/White 2 is Roxie (Virbank City) (It’s the worst Gym out of the almost flawless perfect Gyms in this game). Kalos: Ramos (Most underwhelming and dissappointing Gym in the entire game) Galar: Milo (Just a basic Gym that can be pretty forgettable) I hope you like my personal opinions on my favorite and least favorite Gyms in every region!! ❤️😊
Something I always thought was wasted potential about the strialton city gym is that gen 5 introduced rotation battles and they could have easily been the Tate and Liza of this game introducing a new battle type to us.
Sabrina has a really fatal flaw that doesn’t really pop up in the gen 1 remakes but is glaringly obvious in gen 2. She struggles against dark types. Doesn’t help that you can wait till nighttime and pick up a Murkrow right outside of saffron city.
"but if you mess up even once, and god forbid it be at the very end, then you are mercilessly plunged down to the lower level and rooms crawling with mostly unavoidable trainers" or if you're me, you drop down intentionally to fight every single one of them
My personal Favorites Puzzles and Gym Fights Kanto: Koga or Sabrina GSC: Clair no contest HGSS: Morty no contest RSE: Brawly DP: Fantina (Honestly Diamond and Pearl had the better Gym Puzzles than Platinum ie Gardenia since it was a scavenger hunt) Platinum: Candice B/W: Lenora (Hm goes to Skyla and Elesa) B2/W2: Clay X/Y: Grant No contest Sw/Sh: Milo bc of that Damn Yamper and my switch Controllers were fried at the time Aesthetic Wise for the Gym Kanto: Erika GSC: Morty HGSS: Tie between Clair and Morty RSE: Flannery (Hm goes to Winona) D/P: Fantina (Just my favorite Gym of all time) Platinum: Fantina BW: 3 way tie between Brycen, Skyla, and Elesa B2/W2: Burgh (HMS go to Clay and Marlon) X and Y: Grant (HMS goes to Ramos and Valerie) Sw/Sh: Allister Gym Leaders Kanto: Lt. Surge Johto: Chuck Hoenn: Wallace Sinnoh: Fantina B/W: Brycen B2/W2: Roxie X/Y: Grant and Korrina Sw/Sh: Piers no contest Edit: Least Favorite Gym Leaders Kanto: Giovanni Johto: Falkner without a doubt Hoenn: Juan (I like him but the Hoenn Gym Leaders👌) Sinnoh: Volkner (If The Underground family wasn't a thing then Byron) Unova: Marlon no contest Kalos: Olympia bc at least Ramos is chilling, Olympia looks like she's on next level Acid Galar: Kabu

bugsy from johto for some reason or the other (I have no idea why, but I just like him)
I just generally enjoy the sinnoh ones, they all have a similar puzzle feel yet are all still enjoyable.
Fantina's gym in Platinum because spoopy aesthetics

Unova definitely has some of the best gyms in the entire franchise, hands down. If I made a top 10 list of gyms, at least half of them would be covered by Unova.

Kalos doesn’t slack when it comes to good gym design either. Regardless of what you think of the challenge presented in battle, or lack of, most gyms have unique visual identity. There you go, that's how to be a responsible Pokemon Fan.
that’s so true and I haven’t made it there yet. just the whole playthroughs of it makes me agree.
I really love the atmosphere of spikemuth too
It's the underdog city. All the people who come from there know what it's like to be at the bottom of the popularity food chain and Marnie is trying to change that.

@@obi-twokenobi4861 oh the throwbacks to me as a kid wiping to Elesa and her volt switching rats like 5 times before I first beat her
@@nategwright I just got several flashbacks from those Emolgas and a certain Excadrill 💀
9:37 skyla is very pleasing to look at 😏
@SharinganSakura From the front ain't bad either...
God bless aerodynamics?
Marlons gym is my my absolute fav gym. Has the best gym theme imo and is visually pleasing. It also makes you feel like you wanna just relax close your eyes and just listen to the music. Plus water type is my fav type and you get 1 of the best water type moves as the tm reward being Scald.
Elesa’s runway gym made me fall in love and it has been my favorite ever since. The music just slays
@ Wait, doesn't she give you stat boost when you answer correctly?
@@Pi__Cutsie not when you answer her correct age.
My favorites from each region:
*Kanto:* Cinnabar Gym
*Johto:* Blackthorn Gym
*Hoenn:* Sootopolis Gym
*Sinnoh:* Snowpoint Gym
*Unova:* Nimbasa Gym
*Kalos:* Laverre Gym
*Galar:* Ballonlea Gym

Cinnabar is fun for me because that usually means your near the end.
Receiving "good morning" from JPR at 2 AM is so much pleasure
my favourite Gyms
based on their Puzzle
Kanto: Koga/Janine and their invisible wall
Johto: Chuck's dojo, where we should stop the water flow to let him hear us
Hoenn: Winona and her turbine doors, I genuinely confused the first time I challange her in Ruby
Sinnoh: Candice, just like yours
Unova: Skyla's canon in Black & White
Kalos: Olympia and her maze
Alola: Ryuki's Kantonian Gym
Galar: Nessa and her waterpipe
based on aesthetic
Kanto: Sabrina's Gym in Let's Go games
Johto: Morty's Gym in Heart Gold
Hoenn: Brawly's Gym, which is an actual Gym in Alpha Sapphire
Sinnoh: Byron's Gym
Unova: Elesa's Catwalk Gym in Black 2 & White 2
Kalos: Grunt's Gym, just like yours
Alola: Ryuki's Kantonian Gym
Galar: Kabu's Gym
based on the Gym Leader
Kanto: Erika
Johto: Falkner
Hoenn: Tate & Liza
Sinnoh: Volkner
Unova: Roxie
Kalos: Korrina
Alola: Ryuki's Kantonian Gym
Galar: Piers, the first Dark Type Gym
Must've been a tough pick with the Alola, huh
@@user-zh5vc8bb9q lol
Alola has gyms, they're just not conventional ones.
Skyla in the thumbnail? Come on JPR, you know I can't say no to that.
I don’t know how this guy randomly popped up on my recommended but I totally LOVE your videos and the way their made with the perfect mix of joke, opinions, listings etc. Definitely earned my like and Sub. Keep it up!
Skyla in the thumbnail had me clicking (and something else with my hand) as fast as possible
Nothing better then a JPR video to make me feel better after a bad day at school
I'm sorry you had a bad day! Hope you feel better soon!
your vids always come out one midnigth in my time son. god reson to stay up
9:29 I wouldn't go that far, imo Roxie's (Japanese version), Burgh's and Elesa's (stage floor one) gym themes are better than Clay's
Strangely enough I've always been able to get through Sabrina's gym really quickly.
Like the sentiment of most commenters here Unova takes the best gyms with their unique design as buildings with secondary purpose (reflecting their other jobs, unique theme (BW2) also their leaders somewhat proactivity outside their gyms).
And play BW2 on challenge mode, much much better.
I kinda like the 8th gym in galor being as straight forward as it is. Just a very simple but no nonsense way of explaining what you are up against.
Gen 1: Pewter City Gym
Simple but very aesthetically pleasing.
Not to mention its the first gym in the series (unless you skip Brock because Gen 1 RBY were broken messes)
Gen 2: Ecruteak City Gym
Despite how frustrating it is to fall, the gimmick of having to navigate through the dark without falling is amazing when you get the hang of it. Plus, Morty is the most balanced Gen 2 Gym Leader imo. Not to easy like Chuck or Falkner but not overly hard like Whitney or Clair.
Gen 3: Lavaridge City Gym
The puzzle is very implemental of Lavaridge's hot spring gimmick. Sure, Flannery's a joke, but I still like the whole aesthetic of the Gym, especially with the overhanging steam.
Gen 4: Eterna City Gym
I love the forest maze in DP and the way the flower moves like a clock in Platinum is entertaining. Plus, for a Grass Type Gym Leader, Gardenia does pose a decent challenge with Roserade (unless you use Chimchar)
Gen 5: Opelucid City Gym
DRAGON STATUES!
I don't need to say anything else.
Gen 6: Courmarine City Gym
While Ramos is an absolute joke (then again, so are all the Kalos Gym Leaders) I LOVE the design and aesthetic of this gym. In fact, the same applies to all the Kalos Gyms.
Gen 8: Spikemuth City Gym
This one wins because its the first Dark Type Gym. That and Piers is amazing, as is Marnie, who becomes Gym Leader in the post-game.
Update:
Paldea: Glaseado Gym
I love the minigame. It reminds me of Empoleon's Snow Slide from Poképark Wii
Here's My Favorite Gym in every Game I Played:
BW2: Castelia City.
Basically the reason kabu is my fav gym leader from sw/sh
Raihan was anticlimatic but he was fun too. He was actually one of the only gym leaders to have defeated me, I always cap my pokemon to match the number of pokemon that gym leaders use like the anime. So it was worth it beating him. My Cinderace lost to him twice, leaving some other pokemon to defeat him in the gym rematch. But Cinderace was finally able to defeat Duralodon in the Championship, so it was like a little rivarly.
Damn! My guy JP takes me all the way back to 2013 X&Y pre release days. The classic good morning is nostalgic on its own. Keep going, man!!
What I liked about Raihan's gym was that it was technically a callback to R/S/E/OR/AS in that the gym battle is a double battle
just say hoenn..
@@andri7037 couldn’t remember region name at the time

I really love the aesthetic of Valerie's gym in Gen 6
It fits perfectly for her
nothing better then a Jpr video after a night out
Even tho the western pokemon intro is so damn iconic - I also love the japanese one and your videos definitely give me a portion of it :> love it!
Newcomer to the channel here and I gotta say there’s some high quality content. Bravo sir keep up the good work
For hoenn lavaridge gym.
I think gyms peaked in those generations (as did a lot of stuff).
nice thumbnail. fantasstic
Valerie's gym from x and y is probably my favorite. It's so cute and beautiful.
I agree. That gym is great and my favorite as well. Honorable mention to Olympia´s gym because I didn´t expect the environment to change that way.
This video earns a Thumbs Up metaphorical and literal for the Kalos entry having the Gym’s City theme in the background. 👍🏾
Here are my favourites from each Gen:
Kanto: Giovanni as it was a good plot twist, even if it was easy.
THEY DON'T HAVE GYMS IN ALOLA!
8:44 That is all I had to see. That is ALL I had to see.

The last puzzle in the Sootopolis gym was so hard for me as a kid that I practically started crying 💀
Love your intro music! Sounds like the cinema music
agree with you on grant, friggin loved that! the rock climbing wa kinda fun, and that was sort of a challenge. thought I would easily sweep the team with my grass and water aces, but oh no, that takedown plus refrigerate ability shocked the heck out of me. I was like, takedown? that’s one weak move. come to find that was super effective against my grass types. I’m like, what? how the heck that get a super effective hit!
Clay's gym might nit be that diverse, but it's one of the hardest in Unova.
The Snom guy doesn't need to be fired, he needs a raise so he can afford a second snom
Outstanding video and I’m new to your channel and I wasn’t sure if you already did a video on the Elite 4 gym battles
why does wallace have a cold basement full of women
I love that in the snowpoint gym in the new remakes for Sinnoh you can just go straight across the gym and then try to walk up diagonally and it will let you.
Marlon had such a relaxing and cool looking gym in black and white 2 and I feel like there were a lot of water types in the game too
Eyo finally another snowpoint gym ice puzzle enjoyer 😎😎😎
it seems like a lot of people don’t like it because they found it too difficult/tedious but it was always my favorite gym because i always thought the puzzle was really fun. imo flannery’s gym in emerald always felt way more annoying to navigate through than the ice puzzle because warp tile puzzles suck when all the rooms look the same and you have bad memory.
God bless that thumbnail.
2:36 forgot about x accuracy glitch + nidoking horn drill. Hardest turns into easiest
I never played through Unova sequels, so GYMs from B2W2 looks new and interesting.
I think u should. If u enjoy BW1, than you'll love the sequel.
Ngl I kinda like when a gym doesn’t focus so much on battles, I’d take the quiz’s in Blaine’s and Clemont’s gym instead of just constant trainer battles
in blaines gym I always do the quiz and then fight the trainers anyway lmao
6:33 are you talking about platinum or dp because if dp your wrong that title his to fantina but in platinum it does go to Candice
"Clay Has the best gym music in all of Unova" Elesa would like a word with you
In Black 2 after finishing the league I was exploring the Gyms and when I was in Clay's Gym turns out that I missed one trainer and I defeat him easily.
Lol he was waiting there the whole time
I thought you couldn't fight the gym trainers if you've already beaten their leader.
@@robertlupa8273 you are correct lol
Cyllage City (Grant) is definitely, definitely the hardest gym in X and Y. To be honest, for a long I stopped playing at the 7th gym and was kind of shocked when people said XY were too easy, I thought Grant was really difficult, I could not get past Tyrunt with my Greninja. Also it takes forever to get from the first to the second gym, it's literally like Vermillion-Celadon length.
I noticed you love the ice puzzle gyms. I HATED Snowpoint Gym for the snowballs. At least Pryce's gym had some trainers you could skip over.
3:24 why did nickname your pokemon Mr Hands?
01:31 click here to start the video
I'd like to ask: for the worst gyms, are you gonna ignore gyms that are basically straight corridors with 2 trainers blocking your way?
Because that might make up the entirety of the video and it might be boring...
yeah, I'm gonna try and be a bit creative with my picks, rather than going for the low hanging fruit
@@JPRPokeTrainer98 Thank you for responding! 😀
6:13 that part made me laugh a little bit
You be crazy with your Kalos pick man. Ramos in his Grass gym. THAT GYM IS A THING OF BEAUTY!
I did a double take when you skipped gen 7...then realized. XD
Where did you get that fanart of Skyla in the thumbnail? Asking for a friend
My best friend had to beat the Snowpoint Gym puzzle for me but that being said he also got me though The Ice Path in Pokémon Gold as well
You should do best/worst first gym through eighth. Could be interesting to see how all the games stack up
The Galar gym theme has to be my favorite that music is just awesome XD Wish some of the gyms were a bit harder though.
my only deviation is in Jotho where my favorite is the ice-gym simply because I like the type of puzzles and his team is really not to be underestimated as just going in using a fighting type really is not the best idea.
Same reasons in the video
Hearthome City (Pt).
DO NOT LEAVE OFF THE A IN STEALING!
@@Amelia4111 it was supposed to be stepping, my bad ._.
Here’s my favorite Gym for each region.
Kanto: Sabrina (Saffron City)
Johto: Probably Clair (Blackthorn City)
Hoenn: Either Winona (Fortree City) or Norman (Petalburg City)
Sinnoh: Either Platinum Fantina (Hearthome City) or Volkner (Sunyshore City)
Unova: I’ll split this into 2
Black/White 1: Drayden/Iris (Opelucid City) (Special mention for Cilan/Chili/Cress (Striaton City) for having a great and unique premise)
Black/White 2: Burgh (Castelia City), Elesa (Nimbasa City) (MUCH better in this game than in the first one!!) Clay (Driftveil City), Skyla (Mistralton City), Drayden (Opelucid City), and Marlon (Humilau City) (A personal favorite Gym if I may say)
Kalos: Grant (Cyllage City), Korrina (Shalour City), Valerie (Laverre City) (Valerie is my all time favorite Gym Leader), and Olympia (Anistar City) (Winner of most beautiful Gym I’ve ever seen)
Galar: Bea/Allister (Stow-on-Side), Gordie/Melony (Circhester City), and Piers (Spikemuth)
And here’s my least favorites as well!!
Kanto: Lt. Surge (Vermillion City) (Hate the finding switches in garbage cans mechanic!!)
Johto: Whitney (Goldenrod City) (Whitney is probably the most annoying Gym Leader of all time to beat!!)
Hoenn: Wallace/Juan (Sootapolis City) (Very annoying puzzle to try and complete.)
Sinnoh: Candice (Snowpoint City) (Easily my least favorite Gym mechanic of all time that had to make me search up a guide to figure out the puzzle!! Fighting Candice is the only good part of this Gym. I’m going to gate getting to this part in the remakes lol!! 😂)
Unova: Black/White 1 is either Elesa (Nimbasa City) (Elesa was MUCH better in the sequels) or Lenora (Nacrene City) (Very annoying Gym Leader to beat.). And Black/White 2 is Roxie (Virbank City) (It’s the worst Gym out of the almost flawless perfect Gyms in this game).
Kalos: Ramos (Most underwhelming and dissappointing Gym in the entire game)
Galar: Milo (Just a basic Gym that can be pretty forgettable)
I hope you like my personal opinions on my favorite and least favorite Gyms in every region!! ❤️😊
Oh god the Sootopolis gym made me THINK when I first played emerald
Something I always thought was wasted potential about the strialton city gym is that gen 5 introduced rotation battles and they could have easily been the Tate and Liza of this game introducing a new battle type to us.
Sabrina has a really fatal flaw that doesn’t really pop up in the gen 1 remakes but is glaringly obvious in gen 2.
She struggles against dark types. Doesn’t help that you can wait till nighttime and pick up a Murkrow right outside of saffron city.
"but if you mess up even once, and god forbid it be at the very end, then you are mercilessly plunged down to the lower level and rooms crawling with mostly unavoidable trainers"

I find it fascinating that they managed to put a slapstick joke in a Pokemon-Arena. They never managed to do that again
