In my case it wasn't LRS. I had issues with my DOS straight from the box. With life being busy I never returned it and just left it unconnected. About 2 weeks ago I had finally taken the time to get it straightened out. I did a 20% water change around 10PM last night. I woke at 4AM for work, went into my basement before leaving to empty a dehumidifier bucket. (Which I often don't do.) Looked towards the other end of the basement where my 525XL is. The entire tank was white as snow. The DOS emptied a complete container of ALK! Everything was fine with it before I went to sleep. There were no changes I made. So far I know I've lost a 3yr old Yellow Flanked Wrasse. My Magnificent Foxface is a mess, hopefully he pulls through. The rest I don't even know about yet because I don't want to turn my lights on and stress the rest of my fish out. I immediately did a 20% waterchange and ran a Trident Test. Got it down from 14 to 11.5 so far. Naturally now I'll have to bring my CA back up. And my PH dropped a point. (I turned back on just 1 of my Jaebo's for circulation & opened window above tank.) Added Stress Coat and am keeping my fingers crossed. So to say it's always user error or LRS is B.S.! (Not to be confused with BRS.) Obviously I'm going back to the old-school, most accurate manual dosing. Even considering going FOWLR I'm soo upset.
I kind of thought the same thing more or less, cause he said he went 3 months without dosing.... you mean for three months you didn't notice that dosing containers were still full. With that said I don't have a controller and screwing up the programming is something I'm very likely to do my first time.
Just wondering what’s your go to LFS? I am 30 mins north of Boston and there is only one good one around me LOVE THE REEF. Just trying to find out if you know of any good ones around you. Thanks love the tank GO BRUINS!!!!!
Know this is an old video however quick question. When doing something like swapping powerbars, wouldn't it make sense to test by doing a calibration, something which should be done on a fairly regular basis anyway? Could be ignorance as I have no idea on the neptune system but would getting into that sort of routine... change something, calibrate help to prevent problems like this occuring?
Very sorry to hear about your loss. Not only do you suffer from lrs, but you also suffer from BRS. Blind reefer syndrome. Because Fusion should have had the icon displayed that there was a new tile added... you I'm just kidding. There is sometimes an issue with it creating new components just by unplugging and plugging them back in again. I have had this happen on the Apex classic. That is why I never liked to unplug the aquabus. For your affliction with lrs, I prescribed the following, take one dose of test your system once a week. Side effects may include a healthy tank and growing Coral.
I’ve been doing a lot of research lately on the Radion G4 , I really don’t think you’d be disappointed if you hooked these up with the aquatic life T5 combo ,, would be bang on for SPS , I know the G4 are a shed load of money but once you have them you’d never want or feel the need the change them GO FOR THE G4’s buddy 🤙🤙🤙👍👌
have you thought about clams in the tank. a small clam garden would look awesome in contrast with the sps. plus being filter feeder they would take away a lot of cloudynis issues newer sps tanks seem to get.
Great work on the subs!! Sorry for your loss :( unfortunately it happens..... Could you send me a link to what lights you are getting as I'm trying to set up a 6ft tank but really finding it hard to pick a lights to go with meny thanks
Puff Daddy Reef with the kessil, I don't think your going to get the look your trying to achieve. I don't know if kessil has the software where you can fine tone your light schedule or changed to the colors you prefer like the AI & the radions. I have a AI and I have the ability to download someone else light schedule and fine tone it if need be. I think having the control of fine tunning you light schedule is more rewarding then dealing with something that is present.
I always check my alk at least once a week, if u did u would have noticed a drop which would lead to the problem of the apex, sometimes automation sux!
The title is misleading and it sounds as if it was entirely the automation equipment's fault... Also, only a few SPS colony wouldn't require 60 ml of Ca and Alk supplement each a day (although it is dependent upon the brand). They must be depositing calcium carbonate without affecting KH and Ca levels. Do you check Mg level as this has major influence on calcification process? Lastly, about Maxspect Recurve, each channel has different number of LED chips. 4 foot model's Red (Channel 3) and Green (Channel 4) has 72 LED chips each and Violet//UV/Deep Blue (channel 6) has 144 chips consisting of 3 different spectrum. It produces PAR in excess of 500 directly under the cluster and it's variable wings are perfect for peninsular type tank....just my thought.
Three months without noticing/testing? If I didn’t test at least every other day I would lose everything. I would have to say that the title of this video is very misleading as automation has absolutely nothing to do with why you lost coral. You set up a new piece of equipment improperly and didn’t keep tabs on the tank after doing so. Neptune gets a bad wrap from a lot of people because of stuff like this.
What a horrible and misleading video title. Catastrophe is on you, not the equipment. If you were testing regularly (like a responsible tank owner should) you would have caught any issue with your failure to pay attention. Change the title to "My dumbass didn't follow through with my responsibilities to keep my tank healthy".
I check my dosing pump daily and my parameters weekly even though they never change, trust issues are key in this hobby haha

Automation doesn't kill. Not paying attention kills.
Exactly.
arkayology he already feels bad you don’t need to rub it in
Maybe he shouldn't title his videos to make it seem like the DOS did something wrong. He is at fault.
I kind of thought the same thing more or less, cause he said he went 3 months without dosing.... you mean for three months you didn't notice that dosing containers were still full. With that said I don't have a controller and screwing up the programming is something I'm very likely to do my first time.
Did you not see the levels of the fluids going down in your containers? Tests?
I have lazy reefer syndrome.
Just wondering what’s your go to LFS? I am 30 mins north of Boston and there is only one good one around me LOVE THE REEF. Just trying to find out if you know of any good ones around you.
Thanks love the tank
GO BRUINS!!!!!
Pretty much Love the Reef is my favorite. I also go to Tropic Isle for a particular frozen food but I am afraid to buy fish from there.

Yes, that is some pretty good advice!
Congrats on the 2k subs. Got to shout out Mass Aquariums as we both do freshwater and reefs in a big way. Love your tanks..
Dee From Brooklyn Im subscribed to them, and you too now. You are almost to 2k. Keep it up!

GO FOR THE G4’s buddy 🤙🤙🤙👍👌
What up Rico
Good that u managed to find the root cause of the issue with the dosing!
have you thought about clams in the tank. a small clam garden would look awesome in contrast with the sps. plus being filter feeder they would take away a lot of cloudynis issues newer sps tanks seem to get.
sean mulhall that would be awesome.
Big fan of meleves reef he has a giant tank with great tips.
Great work on the subs!! Sorry for your loss :( unfortunately it happens..... Could you send me a link to what lights you are getting as I'm trying to set up a 6ft tank but really finding it hard to pick a lights to go with meny thanks
For the lighting how do you feel about radion LED's? . I think they will be perfect for your tank.
Passionate Reef I think I am leaning that way. With t5 supplement. I do love kessils though.

Sorry for your losses man but keep at it. Accidents happen 👍
I noticed your ph is 7.8 is that the level you are going for?
Everything looking great!! 👍🏽
Those red sea tanks are beautiful
I always check my alk at least once a week, if u did u would have noticed a drop which would lead to the problem of the apex, sometimes automation sux!
Yah, I should start posting my parameters in each video just to get me to do it.
Tanks ALOT clearer
from one apex owner to another, this seems like a case not understanding automation being the actual issue here.
That's why I hand dose. Cost is $0.00 and possible malfunction is 0.00%
Billy Pipes the apex did not malfunction... user error should be the title of this video.
Sorry you lost the Lokani yo the dos problem. Your zoas are insane, feel free to send any excess zoas to me lol. Great video
So the problems that happen with tank automation is still due to human error lol, it’s ALWAYS human error

Yoshi Fujisawa Lots of good advice. I was way over dosing. Just posted parameters on instagram. Alk is way too high.
I like your height of your aquarium and stand how tall is it. If you're just short peace
I am 5'8". Tank is 5' 3.5" to the top.
Sorry for ur lost 😔, ..try gen 4 pro, eco tech for the lighting
with all automation, the key is "Trust But Verify "
ALLWAYS! Thanks!
I see you are in Boston I am 30 mins north of Boston. Love your tank keep it the videos coming!!
Good video
Go t5!
You seem to have trouble with tanks and this hobby. If you need any help or advice man, just hit me up
And nice tank
ATO's are ment to be low key and sleak looking, that one is a bulky looking ato lol

Radion, Radion , Radion.....Don't waste your time with anything else
you should grow your beard in.
First man I am first
This title is stupid, user error name it as that... but man your never going to be a sps junky with not checking your own work....
Misleading title, but you got the views didn’t you? smh.
😉
