The information in this video is helpful. However I find your method of applying thermal paste to the heatsink very questionable. I understand you are going for the most surface area covered. However placing it in the method you used can create air pockets within the thermal paste as it compresses. It's much better to apply a single bead in the center of the heat sink area and let it spread outward on its own from the pressure. Doing it that way keeps air pockets from forming while still keeping the area covered as large as possible.
The other thing I noticed is your bending of the 'X-Clamp' as they are commonly known. The 'X-Clamp' is one of the major failure points in the design of the entire line of 360 hardware revisions. As the board heats and cools during use, the direct central pressure and outward corner pressure is one of the main causes of system failure. Adding more pressure to the clamp is actually the exact opposite that you would want to do in this situation. A common "fix" for this in the original days of the 360 was to replace the clamp entirely with nylon washers as standoffs and use 4 screws to apply only corner clamping pressure. This pulls the heatsink against the CPU from only the corners allowing the board and CPU socket to freely flex as the temperature changes during use. Without having the central pressure from the original clamp this greatly reduces the chances of failure.
Other than those two things, the video is very well done. Though it wouldn't have hurt to just pull the pin from the fan connector instead of clipping the wire. I have repaired countless original model consoles, but I was looking for more information specifically on the E model. I'm glad I came across this video because the disassembly instructions are quite helpful to keep from breaking the brittle case tabs. Thanks for the video regardless.

hi, thanks for your opinion and comment, let me tell you i have done so many methods of applying thermal paste and let me tell you that they are work the same as long as there is enough pressure. and yes the bubble formation in the thermal paste will and would happen if the pressure is not enough. i been doing electronics and services for over 14 years and i have done my share of testing from putting a single bead to apply the way i did in the video and let me tell you that, i never had different results in temps nor problems because i make sure there is enough pressure. none than less the right and safe is the drop in the middle and making sure you cross stitch the heat sink screws else you will push everything to one side and going to extra steps and explaining that in the video would make it longer so the reason i did this way in the video so i save and no going in detail of explaining the other method.
regarding the X clamps you are right i do put washers and remove the standoff and put a direct bolt in the heat sink and pull that suckers to the right pressure point, but i may not agree with you on the bending the x clamps because physically the x centre part pushed inward under the BGA and the legs create the tension requires to pull the heat sink , and this is based on test and facts, that has been done with solid works application ( as i have a physical engineering and electronics background ) models and test i am planing to make a video and show the results.
Regarding the cutting the cable you are right, i should of pull that pin out and then shrink tube that , but that would involve in many more steps and there was no need for those extra steps as the cable was going to stay off.
i can tell from your comment you are smart and think out side the box :)
      -Damon

You are Mostly correct, however, the x clamp is designed to let the board flex and move, so that when the board Does flex and move, less pressure is put on the solder joints of the apu. Applying screws and washers warps the board, and does not allow for it to move. Over time, this distribute pressure very unevenly, causing the xbox to red ring.

      @uFixTek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you for the feedback and your support to the channel regarding the connection issue on controller, you need to run a test,
does it happen with another controller o only that specific controller?
test the controller on a friends xbox or test his controller on your xbox.
if his/her controller does the same on your xbox then its simple that your front panel board is not working properly and you can change it super easy. BUT if the other controller does work then you have a bad controller and you will need to repair or send it to repair. sorry not much i can do. but let me know

Follow the following steps make sure your controller is connected via usb cable.
To reset your display settings, follow these steps:
Make sure there’s no disc in the disc tray.
      Turn off the console.
      Turn on the console.
As the console starts, press and hold the Y button  while pulling the right trigger on the controller. The display settings are reset to the default settings, and then the console automatically restarts.
Xbox 360 E or Xbox 360 S console: To reset display setting on these console models, you can also just turn off the console and then hold the power button on the front of the console down for about 10 seconds. (The lights will flash several times.)
