Hi, Pole speaking. About your question regarding Lesser and Greater Poland. Greater Poland is the area where first Polans Tribes lived which are defines as roots of todays Poles. Lesser Poland was home of another great tribe Vistualns which even though much smaller in size where seen as the strongest of the known tribes in Medieval Poland.

really if you take different countries in Europe then yes Poland is more in east but land wise eastern border of Continent Europe are Ural mountains if you check where they are you will see Poland is literally ind de center of Europe
Just to lighten the mood.
Satan imprisoned a Pole, a Russian and a German so after some time he gave them the opportunity to escape. He announced that the one who would escape from prison would cross the bridge under fire, then enter the cage with the bear and shake its hand and finally rape the old Indian woman. The German ran first and died right at the beginning of the bridge. The Russian was the second one who did not reach the end of the bridge. It was the Pole's turn who quickly ran across the bridge and ran into the cage with the bear. A cloud of dust rose, nothing could be seen, and the Bear's angry growls were coming out of the cage. After a while the cloud of dust cleared and they saw the Pole standing by the cage who asked "Satan! Where is the Indian woman I was supposed to shake hands with?
The fact is, that in Poland you gonna be catch by casual people to take a picture with you every 5 minutes, not because you are so famous, but "holly duck I meet black person, we need to take a picture, because nobody would belve me" this is how homogeneus we are
That something to conquer are Poles ;)
Generally speaking, for 1000 years, when the Piasts created this state, independence was the priority. A kingdom of one's own. First coronation in 1025. This is the center of Europe, without geographical obstacles, taking care of its own interests, which do not always match the interests of our neighbors....
