You have nooooooo idea how helpful this is...👏👏 Could you please discuss rentals in Kampala for a single person like reasonable rents, areas to live in and recommend property agents? Obviously this requires consideration of a number of factors but if you can discuss it generally or what you would do, it would be helpful. Also a random question, why do houses in Uganda have open plan bathroom and toilet set up. Is it possible to find accomodation where these are sectioned off, not necessarily separate rooms but if you have a shower it's sectioned off, otherwise water goes everywhere. Sorry this is so long 🙈

You’re so very welcome ! ☺️ I’m glad this was helpful because I didn’t know any of this moving here haha. Yes I’ll do a sit down discussing rentals for sure ! In regards to open bathrooms - omg I hate them so much. Not everywhere does it but most places do. You have to aim for somewhere that’s a bit nicer or the developers used plans that make sense. Usually you can tell by how the outside looks. Does parking make sense? Does the building itself look like it makes sense? From there usually the inside floor plan then accounts for a shower with a glass door or shower curtains or something

You also pay for Medicals in Canada but the difference is its taken upfront before the money lands in your Bank Account, As of 2019 This is how taxes are deducted from your pay, bare in mind u still have to pay your Mortgage, property taxes or rent separate from the numbers below If u make a year...
    $1 - $47,630 the CDN gov't will deduct 15% from that
    $47,623 - $52,408 the CDN gov't will deduct 20.5% from that,
    $52,408 - $95,259 the CDN gov't will deduct 26% from that.
    $95,259 - $147,667 the CDN gov't will deduct 29% from that
And its goes up from there, don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with paying taxes as long as the basic needs of the citizenry are taken care of like they do in Canada, like when u call the police in Uganda only for them to tell u that we don't have fuel in vehicles so we can't come today u just have to die for now. Sales tax or HST is 5% on top of those numbers if you're self employed.

Ohhh yeah I've been very aware of this since working in high school but I'd much rather pay in taxes then upfront when I'm sick and need a doctor. Or even having to find my own insurance. I liked universal healthcare and very for it.

Hi, May I share the most important news you will ever hear? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?

Tbh if you walk a lot and spend a lot of time outside and if you're even a little bit out of the city you'll be squatting in the latrines, walking to markets, hand washing clothes, sweeping dust out of the house ALL THE TIME so keeping fit isn't a huge concern/necessity because you're active all time. It's better in the village because you'll be waking up at 5am feeding animals and tending to crops before it's too hot in the day to do anything. Ugandan lifestyle is quite active if you are self reliant.
