No if we do that then we just end up with the backup officials who are even worse. All we need is a rule change to allow obviously incorrect decisions to be overturned. PI, out of bounds, down by contact, facemasks, etc. are all easily reviewable but there is no way to fix an incorrect call on any of them after the fact.

Once there is no call made, they can't go back and say they messed up. The only way this problem is fixed is if they use the same / better cameras than the fifa group and have a group of unbiased officials, maybe 1 from each team in a room watching the cameras together and voting on every single player during every single play to get a 100% confirmation that the decision is correct and fair.
So until we get that, or like he said, Robots who will review such information in real time, it is subjective and up to the ref to make the call and that's based on if they see it. There's only so many refs on the field and only so many things they can all be seeing.
Clearly defensive passing interference but "subjective" as to whether or not to screw the Commanders. LOL
I think everyone is also missing the holding on the Giants that was missed the same play.

We're comparing "Eh almost maybe but ehhhhh they're not grabbing a hold of them " to "that guy is giving the receiver a bear hug and dragging him backwards." The o line looked like they defended that well on that play. They didn't look like they did most plays, but that one was fine.
This just proved the point that refs are acting like hall monitors or bus drivers, or cops.
They are not there to allow for a level playing field, they are there to "catch" someone.

Theres supposed to be 7 guys on the line of scrimmage the 5 linemen and whoever else. On this play it looks like all 5 linemen and a tight end were on the line. The guy in motion doesnt count and mclaurin wasnt lined up properly. Dumb rule but its how it works.

Every time my team gets the bare minimum momentum going- PENALTY!! Personal Foul or False Start. A Phin touches Wilson, and a Personal Foul was called. For touching the Jets QB when he had the Football. In his hands. I can take my team losing a legitimate game, but when it's so heavily directed by the zebras... man I can't take it.

Commanders shouldn't even have gotten the ball back if the refs called one of the 2 penalties on the Giants last 3rd down pass. 2 members of the WAS secondary committed penalties, neither were called so WAS got the ball back. If they call one of them the Giants get a 1st down with like 140 left and WAS is out of timeouts. Game is basically over at that point.

Giants vs Washington 2 weeks ago, DPI was never called to seal the game for the giants. It happens. that DPI shouldve been called last night but also the Illegal hands to the face on KT hsouldve as well which wouldve ended the game cuz Heineke was about to get sacked. the illegal formation was soley on terry, line judge told him to move up and he did a tiny bit then dotson motioned he didnt look back at the him

Go look at what has been happening with the Minnesota vikings. I mean they had the division pretty much wrapped up three or four weeks ago practically, and go look at some of the performances and the scores or lack of scoring from the Vikings games. Jones first past to Slayton was almost the exact same thing. Defender on Slayton's back before the ball got there. But since it wasn't for a TD, we were never shown the slomo. The refs were consistent... consistently bad.
KT got poked in the eye. Richie James got tackled 10 yards downfield on a third down play. Giants recover a fumble with no Commanders around and the refs blew it dead. This aint a conspiracy against the Commanders, the refs just sucked. Missed calls all night, bad look to essentially end the game on one though.

As a Giants fan, the refs should have called PI. HOWEVER, on the same play there was a face mask/illegal hands to the face penalty against Thibodeaux (he was poked in the eye) They didn’t call that either. At best, the penalties should have offset.
Also, if the refs didn’t blow the 2nd fumble recovery dead, that could have possibly gone back for 6 so the game would have been out of reach for the commanders anyway.
They missed a pass interference call against the Giants in the second quarter that would've put the Commanders in the red zone, so they owed them that

You can literally do that "if" with most plays. Fact of the matter is, more times than not (and no matter who they're playing), Washington gets the short end of the stick when it comes to the officiating. They have to play against the officials AND the opposing team.

It could've been called twice on him, in the same play. He interfered before the ball was thrown, then again when the ball was in the air. That's not "letting them play." That was egregious.

Because it’s realistic to assume refs will miss calls like that on both sides in the middle of the trenches. There’s holding every play, there’s hands to the face every play, we all know that. You just expect the refs to call those when they’re really obvious and have an effect on the play.
But there is no reason to expect that they can miss an egregious defensive holding and PI that’s going on for several seconds in a one-on-one matchup.

It wasn’t just the end of the game. Washington was on the receiving end of several other calls that would never have gone against 31 other teams in the league. Haven’t seen a team get jobbed by the NFL like that since the Pats/Jags AFC Championship game.
What’s going on in the past few years is that we’re seeing a league openly punish a team on the field because of a very public and nasty dispute with their owner. It was simply a little more egregious and in primetime for everyone to see on Sunday. But it’s been going on for 2-3 years.
Bruh i can name multiple flags that wouldve gone for the giants that werent called either jones was pulled down by his facemask no call, things like that. Do not try that when we all know that the giants have been screwed by bad officiating a lot as well

No they didn't. They showed replay of that and it was open hand contact with the mask, no grab. That isn't a penalty. This was two games in a row where the refs were extremely biased towards the New York side, and there were far more bad calls in this game that went the Giant's way than just the two discussed here. The phantom holding call that negated a long run just before the Giants defensive TD and put them in the bad position that lead to that play. The horseshit offensive PI on the two point conversion that everyone in the world knows was a bad call and had the ref's advocate on the broadcast sounding like Baghdad Bob trying to defend it. Clear pass interference with the receiver hit before the ball arrived on a long pass down the left sideline, not called, and that's just the ones I remember off the top of my head. That's 5 plus bad calls minimum in one game, all to the Giant's favor. There has been enough stink on the refs in the last two games that I sincerely believe the crews involved should be investigated for possible ties to gambling.

I'm obviously a Giants fan and glad they won. Reading all the comments about the game being rigged, why would the refs care who wins? I firmly believe the penalties even out over the course of a game as to which are called and which aren't. They get magnified of course, in the last minute. It did appear it was PI. I did hear a comment after the game and watching a replay saw Thibedeaux grab his eyes after getting hands to the face on that play. That wasn't called either. All things being equal, it should've been offsetting penalties and replay the down. Also, no guarantees the Commanders would've scored the two extra points needed to tie the game. They had their shots for 58 minutes and it didn't happen.
It doesn’t need to be rigged for those calls to be wrong. It’s a game of inches and to negate a TD, ignore two blatant PIs and a helmet to helmet over the course of the game is gonna mess up any teams chance of winning. That’s 3 drives that should have been extended and one drive that should have ended in a score. Flip the script and put half of those bogus calls against NY and they 100% lose the game.

For the conspiratorial amongst us, sports betting, and by extension Vegas, has seen annual betting revenue jump from $4.6B, in 2018, to $174.9B in 2022 (less December '22). The officiating crews, and officiating infrastructure, (i.e. replay) deciding games are supposed to be the best in the world, yet, of the 272 games, it seems like we continuously have season defining games decided on verifiably bad calls. Not saying Vegas has influence on games (because I don't want to get suicided) but it's food for thought.

Why is there formation BS rules? I mean. You have the center 2 guards and 2 tackles. Thats a total of five that can not be a receiver or runner. The other 6 can. And have a rule that teams must line all offensive lineman on the line with the center in the middle period. Look at that fixes all illegal formations.

One (or more) of these refs absolutely had some money on this game. That illegal formation penalty was probably the most egregious fixing by an NFL official I've ever seen. Same goes for the offensive PI called on the 2-point conversion earlier - horrible
nope, the rule specifically says that the helmet of the player who is on the line of scrimmage must cross the line of the center's waist. In this case, it didn't. By probably less then half a yard, but it didn't. It was an illegal formation.
Yep 2 pt conversion, and TD. 8 points taken off the board by refs. These aren’t a false start call with 9 min in the 3rd, these are the MOST important plays of the game and every one went against us.

I didn't hear any of these Washington fans mad about the terrible officiating two weeks ago when all the awful calls went their way and led to a tie. If you're going to be mad about the terrible jobs the refs do on subjective calls you have to admit when they go your way, like the taunting call in week 13 that put the Giants out of FG range and allowed Washington to tie that game.

The giants o line literally yanking payne away by his back to let jones make a massive 3rd down run. 1 out of 3 times washington tried to pass the ball they were getting held and pi on. That whole game was just as bad of a travesty!
@CycleSavior N Thibodaux has been held all year and just started getting calls. The refs are terrible. And the calls went the other way this week. Sucks having a game decided by the refs but you won some you lose some.

@@NasonJPR lol the Giants had 4 penalties for 34 yards called against them and wash I ngton had 7 for 55 yards in week 13. I hate complaining about penalties because the Giants earned that W. They clearly played the cleaner game and made the biggest plays, that being the turnovers especially the strip sack returned for 6. But to compare last games refs with this games refs is a joke. There were 4 penalties that changed the outcome of the game alone.

The call was correct regardless.
And if they looked at any of it on replay, they slow the game and generally refuse to overturn even when presented with clear evidence to contrary. Refs just make you scratch your head.
Not the refs job to make sure you line up correctly. It's a courtesy, not a responsibility.
Terry was interviewed and the follow-up question was, "Terry, did you actually hear the ref say you were OK?" and Terry says, "Yes, he said I was good." This deserves an investigation. I'm a sports gambler and I need to know someone else's bet is not more important than mine.
Yes the calls missed were bad but also we played bad from the start and with underestimated the giants, have lots of things to work on, onto San Francisco 👏🏽

@@yupytp I will admit, punting instead of going for the FG on the first or second drive was a big mistake. Not feeding BRob in the redzone and passing it more was also a sign of horrible play calling. Trying to make TH the hero in the redzone is poor play calling as well.

This illegal-formation issue is what was brought up regarding the famous Philly Special play in SB52. Alshon Jeffery was seen checking with the official on his side pre-snap, and it looks like the official said he was good - which means that even if technically Jeffery wasn't far enough forward, there would be no penalty. Here on this play, however, the official seemed to say the WR had to move up... and when the WR didn't move far enough forward / check back with the official, the penalty was called.
Their rigging is just getting more blatant and obvious. That was the easiest pi call of the day.

The wide receiver wasn’t interfered, it was a body to body play that didn’t end in his favor. It is part of the game, it is how you lock someone down in coverage. I will give you the illegal formation call however.
-They made a call at the end of the game against us and they even made a no call for us .. There were 2 receivers getting hugged in the end zone.. Not to mention the 2 no call pass interference in the first half..

The NFL Network show making excuses for obviously questionable calls that determined the outcome of a game. Shocker.
You can't say on one hand the refs don't want to throw the penalty flag to determine the game at the end on the PI when the flag on Terry helped determine the game. The ref had a better vantage point than Terry so he asked the ref was he ok. Even still our coaching staff, players and refs were terrible. That was a good win for a mediocre, rebuilding Giants team with better coaching than us.
Both plays were "illegal plays". The issue for me is that one was call and the other was not. Neither should have been called because I agree that at this point in the game, they should have let them play it out.
You call an egregious pass interference when it happens. That one was egregious. You could have called defensive holding or PI… the defender was draped on him nearly the entire play.
I’m not even a commanders fan and I was heated. Officiating this season has been downright awful. How are you going to call the illegal formation WHEN HE CHECKS WITH YOU then not call the bear hug PI in the end zone.

Pause the video cause Terry does move up 1, and then the official saying it was at the half-yard line is bogus because the 3rd down marker shows the ball is on the 1-yard line. So that would put Terry at the waistline of the center.
I hate that coaches have to come out and say "we can't blame the refs, we had other plays to make" These are professional athletes and coaches. The difference in talent and experience between either team is razor thin at that level. One play can absolutely make a difference and a mistake by an official could decide a game. The NFL has more problems with officiating than any other league in pro sports. If owners don't start taking it seriously, the fan base is going to find another sport to watch...
He wasn't on the line, the ref told him to move up, he didn't move up enough. No idea what the debate's about. It was IF, definitely. The PI no-call is the contraversy, not the IF.

Any other game as a Giants fan I’d feel bad about these very rough calls deciding games. But with how many times in the past few years we’ve been screwed by the refs, especially against the commanders, it’s about time we had a game where it goes our way.

I can relate! As a Bills fan we almost never get defensive pass interference calls, no matter how obvious it is, let alone in the 4th quarter with the game on the line. But they called it correctly on our last drive that set up the walk off FG. There have been so many of those missed calls that I can't be upset that we actually got one.

I think people just need to realize something called human error, games involving humans will always be prone to human error, and corruption.
