  • After dying bravely in battle, a Norse warrior treks the nine worlds of the cosmic tree Yggdrasil, seeking Valhalla...
    Age of Mythology Retold is coming September 4, 2024 to Xbox and PC :)
    What is your favorite world/scene? Feel free to comment below.
    If you enjoy the video, consider subscribing, as I plan to release additional ones more often. In the near future, I'll also be posting some AOM drawings for sale on Etsy. If you've got any tips or have specific interests, just let me know.
    This cinematic was made using the "Age of Mythology™: The Titans Expansion Pack" video game, with the intent of garnering favor for future expansions of the game, as well as creative expression. The final version of the New X Editor (available at AOM Heaven) was utilized, and all units and sounds are original to the game, with no mods being used.
    Special thanks to the shieldmaiden Jane, a true Valkyrie, and the inspiration to follow through to the end on this project.

    I have nothing but respect for this man, ended up in Hel, and yet even though he died in battle and no Valkyrie came to help him to Valhalla, he had the perseverance to walk there himself. What a mad lad and he certainly earned his spot in Valhalla. Traveling literally from the bottom to the top of the World tree is no minor feat and the gods should be happy to have a man like him

    Oh my God! It's YOU! I hadn't realized it until I checked the channel, you're the guy/girl/whatever who did that AoM video with the villager that goes collect the perfect tree as an offering to the gods! It was awesome, there were scenes in Egyptian cities, Greek cities, Atlanteans cities, cameos by Horus, Gaia and Ymir, some hilarious bits of chase (even a kraken during the ship voyage that I had not prieviously noticed!)... man! That was so long ago, but it feels like yesterday!
    And here you are, bringing us yet ANOTHER Age of Mythology masterpiece! And to boot, *a Norse themed one.* _(you had me sold on the idea)_
    Crossing all the Nine Realms in order to reach Valhalla.
    And the best part of it all? *You did the Nine Realms JUSTICE.* Hellheim isn't the "fiery inferno" that most Christian interpretations tend to envision, you made it be what it actually is, a realm of darkness and death, that's it.
    And let's not talk about the amazing bridges you made interconnecting each and every realm!

    • @Anraheir
      @Anraheir  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow, thank you for your detailed and gracious comment. I very much appreciate it man. Yeah, placing a Valkyrie did cross my mind, but I wanted the journey to feel more personal for the protagonist. Also, I have to save some units for future videos. Speaking of which, I'm finalizing designs for an Egyptian cinematic - it'll be here this summer. After that, I hope to post more frequent videos; not as lengthy, but just as exciting. The game is old, but I've got plenty of cinematic ideas to implement. Take care :)

    • @Anraheir
      @Anraheir  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@melonswag420 I'll consider uploading the .scx files to AOMHeaven in the future, so you can see for yourself. Basically, you place the camera behind a hill and shrink objects and place them on the hill surface which, against the ground ahead, gives the illusion of a bridge.

    Absolutely incredible effects and knowlegde of the AoM Editior. From a perspective of an editor myself im questionion how are some of the effects like walking on the bride and the floating city and the end is possible. You must spent hundreds of hours for making it. And this althought the game is from 2002/2003. I hope they remaster the game after AoE 4 and AoE 3 DE! Age of Mythology 2 or Age of Mythology with modern graphics at least would be a dream come true! Appreciate your work - fantastic!

    • @Anraheir
      @Anraheir  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the compliment. The editor tricks are indeed complex, and took many hours. I rely heavily on placing cameras inside hills and placing objects on the hillside. Ice blocks also help me to render atmospheric perspective - this does not work on Definite Edition, however. It would be great to have AOM2. I think the graphics and storylines would have great potential. Perhaps it will arrive sometime in the future. In the meantime, AOMX is enough :)
