    I love the projector sound effect.
    Thank you for identifying the blue wire's purpose.
    I have to get another lutron switch to make the motion sensor work.
    The blue wire is the key.
    It'd be nice if the paper work
    spelled that out more clearly.

    Is there a way to limit the range of the sensor? I installed it for when you walk into a mudroom but walking across the end of the hallway (10-12 feet away) also trips it off.

    If the circuit is turned on by a companion switch, will the sensor still turn it off in 5 min?

    Does the mechanical switch on the circuit where the OPS5M is installed also have to be grounded or no?

    I bought a maestro (MS-OPS2) with one green two black and a plain silver wire. It's a garage where I have a switch by the house inside entrance and one switch by the main large garage door (3 way switch). The switch I want to put my sensor on is by the inner door into the house - that switch has two black wires, a red wire and ground. Can you tell me how do I connect in this application? Please and Thanks!

      Hi! Unfortunately you have a single pole sensor switch and have to use a 3-way sensor switch, that switch does not have enough wires for a 3-way application. You will want to get a MS-OPS5M.

    Can you have 2 motion sensors on the same 3-way circuit?

    • @Lutron-Electronics
      @Lutron-Electronics  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi! Unfortunately no, the two sensors would conflict with each other. We cannot use two different motion sensing devices in a wired 3-way.

      Wouldn't the timer fix the issue of conflicting with each other though ?

    i have one sensor switch and 2 companions. for the last few years it worked fine. up until recently if i try to turn on the lights from the companions it shuts right off and only stays on if i hold it. what is causing this?

    we two switches in a two floor shared hallway. can I put the motion (MS-OPS5MH) on one (say near the front door) and keep the other existing switch at the top of stairs? Will the existing regular switch use the timer if someone flips it?

    • @Lutron-Electronics
      @Lutron-Electronics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, Matt. Yes, it will, when you flip the standard mechanical switch to turn on the lights, the sensor switch will start looking for occupancy and start its countdown to shut off.

    Question: Does the Line coming in from the panel have to hit the motion sensor first or can it come into to the mechanical switch first?

    • @Lutron-Electronics
      @Lutron-Electronics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The order of the 3-way does not matter for this product. You can wire to the motion sensor first, or the mechanical switch/companion first; they are interchangeable in terms of location.

    Why did you connect the black wire to the white wire!!????

    • @Lutron-Electronics
      @Lutron-Electronics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, Thanks for your question. In this application, the black wire was the hot wire coming from the breaker and red and white were used as travelers in between wall boxes. This wiring may not pertain to every application and Lutron would consult our wiring wizard for additional assistance or a local electrician for further assistance.

    Why can’t I keep my existing 3 way toggle

    • @Lutron-Electronics
      @Lutron-Electronics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, Daniel.
      This video specifically addresses using the companion switch, but you can equally use a 3-way setup with a mechanical toggle switch using this wiring guide: www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/368-4493_Page_13.pdf
      This is explained in more detail on the MS-OPS5M installation guide: www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/0301647.pdf
      Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

      @@Lutron-Electronics It seems like thee are two version of MS-OPS5M switches, one that allows you to use the same wire for ground and neutral and the other that only has the green jacket, is that correct? Or can the green shown in this wiring diagram can be connected to neutral if need be?

    Is it possible to use TWO sensors on a stairway 3way? Or does the second turn the circuit off when it sees you coming up the stairs? Assuming a current 3way connection, how do you wire two sensors so that either turns ON the lights and they stay on for a fixed amount of time?

    • @Lutron-Electronics
      @Lutron-Electronics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lutron does not recommend using two occupancy sensors on a 3-way application. This will cause performance issues with the lighting circuit as two master devices are not intended to operate together. Instead, Lutron recommends installing an occupancy sensor at whichever location receives more traffic and either a standard on/off mechanical switch or companion switch (MA-AS) at the second location.

    I have three switched in my Hallway- Can I install just the Maestro Motion Sensor & Dimmer to one switch and keep the other two the same?

    • @Lutron-Electronics
      @Lutron-Electronics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello,
      With the sensor products, if you have three or more total locations, you will need to use the Maestro companion switch or Maestro companion dimmer. Those devices will not work in line with two mechanical on/off switches. If you have exactly two switching locations, then you can use the sensor with one mechanical on/off switch.
