I didn't hear much from Eloy either but what I heard absolutely blew me away at the time, I'm talking about "Isolation" by Sepultura, if you haven't go watch the Behind The Scenes and the playthrough by Eloy, the sheer power and creativity he puts behind the kit is faboulous, I guess the creativity comes from the fact that he's Brazilian and Brazilian music (which is INSANELY HARD to play on drums) is very different from typical western music. I hope we'll get not just heavier records but more creative ones, TESF felt overall stale and uninspired...
The first time I saw Eloy Casagrande with Slipknot, I was blown away by his playing. Eloy is the perfect drummer for Slipknot and I'm so glad he's in Slipknot. He is doing a great job!!!
Joey wrote the song, and plays is fabulously of course. Jay plays it fast, and I like a lot of the extra fills he adds. Eloy plays fast and hard. All 3 brought something new to the song.
@Lady_Boy_ All depends on the song. I've seen him play Me Inside, and Metabolic without adding extra fills. Even Joey did the same thing from time to time. Part of Slipknot's charm bro. Eloy even adds extra fills to songs.
He adds extra fills so he can hide the sloppiness of his double bass. I’ve seen his version of Disasterpieces whole and he was all over the place. No wonder Slipknot kicked him out.
@MarkJusti Jay's never been perfect at double bass, no doubt about it. He has good days and bad days. Same with Joey. Sometimes he can nail it, other times he does fills to hide it. It's all about being human.
you're right, Joey was the spirit of the band. Great technical drummers can play and, eventually improve the songs, but Joey was original. Now we have to wait for new stuff to see how Eloy will increase the Slipknot legacy
Aside from drumming skills, I think Joey's performance was well designed, including headbanging, stick tricks, body movements, etc. He mixed those moves naturally into his drumming. He must have spent time deliberately practicing those moves to make them so natural while playing that kind of high-level drumming. If you play drums, you know how hard it is to do some cool shit and play difficult notes at the same time. In a way you can even say that the "difficult" songs are easy enough for him to do those shit.
I'm not a drummer but Joey gave the impression of being very in control of his body movements whereas Jay seems to need to move more just to get around the kit. Eloy is less theatrical than Joey, more raw power, still extremely controlled to an almost superhuman level of consistency.
Bro watching joey is like watching a legend at his prime like watching aryton Senna's race i cant get enough of Joey's performance at the breakdown moment ❤❤
This made me audibly say, "wow" ... thank you for this comparison. 3 different styles, Joey will always be the goat... but Eloy has sure lived up to the task...exceedingly.
All of them are awesome. All of them has their own style. Joey was a creator of this tracks. Jay was super-technique, and Eloy is also cool. There is no “better and worse “. Slipknot doesn’t choose bad drummers. Slipknot’s drummers always are more than humans. Respect each of them.
Jay looks like he's struggling the entire time. Joey and Eloy make it look effortless. One thing you need to factor in is Eloy has only performed live with Slipknot a few times. He's just going to get better with every performance.
Jay's tempo is messed up. I noticed that from the begging but everyone seemed to be in denial. Now that I hear Eloy's playing I guess I wasn't that crazy!
"only". give him some props at least holy shit. he's paying tribute to the original sound and ideas, and playing it absolutely flawlessly. don't write it off as "only imitating"
Jay varies the timing of his hits too much in comparison to Joey and Eloy. Joey has an amazing timing but Eloy beats him in both timing, precision and dynamics (or should I say strenght?).
Eloy is a better drummer in practical terms. Joey however has the benefit of having written so much iconic music and was himself also an amazing drummer when he was healthy. So while I think Eloy is the better drummer, I don't think he's the better musician.
@@Implicit_Truth Eloy is an increadible composer. He has mastered a lot of drumming styles. I belive that in the next slipknot album if he has space to let his creativity out then he will prove his name next to Joey's composition.

I have respect for each one of these men. R.I.P to Joey. Jay is an incredible drummer. But without question, Eloy to me has the best SOUND to his drumming.
I’ve always felt that even under the mask, Joey was calm and even zen-like when playing. Jay being kicked out was so heartbreaking, especially because it was his genuine dream from childhood to be in Slipknot. Eloy…damn! What else can be said that hasn’t been said 1,000 times before? The guy hits hard as f***, each note is heard distinctly in an unreal sort of way.
Love Eloy's fidelity to the original track while adding his signature Brazilian groove, love Jay's dirty and punkier groove and cymbal/toms creativity but man, Joey was something out of this world. His way of composing drum parts was something so unique, he was a man with a rough mind set and you can tell by his music, that's what's missing with Slipknot and it's something you just can't replace. Jay and Eloy speak through their instrument and their chops, Joey was one with the music.

@@blacksaturn_ I get what you mean! And I feel you man! Joey inspired me in some weird way. I thought for a short guy, he's one badass MF! The weird dance that he does etc! Never really played drums but I would, he's be my #1 inspiration. I stopped listening to Slipknot around 2007 because I discovered the hardcore/deathcore scene. I had tears when I heard Joey passed and I was in sushi restaurant parking lot haha.
Jay: I was intrigued by that young guy! I thought he was awesome and gave life back to Slipknot along with V-Man! I started listening to Slipknot with .5 The Gray Chapter
Eloy: Although I'm sad Jay is gone, the comments I saw for Eloy kind of hyped me up! But I gotta admit I never heard anything about him when he was in Sepultura. Can't wait to see what he will bring!
@@xoxo666 glad you get me hahahah!
Eloy has the sauce😂
Ayooo
All respect for Joey & Jay, but Eloy, man, this guy is so freaking special, for me he’s top 1 drummer of the world at all time 🔥 🔥🔥
Joey wrote the drum beat ffs. Show something they create. Imitators.
@@turbomunch search sepultura drum riffs bro lol
@@turbomunch Listen to Quadra, Eloy is an amazing composer as well as player. Lars wrote Dyers Eve drum parts, but he can't fucking play them.
@@turbomunchboth Eloy and Jay created great drum pieces
Joey makes it look easier. He also wrote everything. He's the embodiment of the band
Eloys ghost notes 😍. He's brutal, clean and groovy all at the same time. What a beast. Bring on their new album. I'm gonna blow my speakers dude.
Joey's movement was just effortless.
All 3 brought something new to the song.
he adds extra fills because he doesn't have the stamina to keep the song the way it should be played.
@Lady_Boy_ All depends on the song. I've seen him play Me Inside, and Metabolic without adding extra fills. Even Joey did the same thing from time to time. Part of Slipknot's charm bro. Eloy even adds extra fills to songs.
@@VileSinner666 ok
He adds extra fills so he can hide the sloppiness of his double bass. I’ve seen his version of Disasterpieces whole and he was all over the place. No wonder Slipknot kicked him out.
@MarkJusti Jay's never been perfect at double bass, no doubt about it. He has good days and bad days. Same with Joey. Sometimes he can nail it, other times he does fills to hide it. It's all about being human.
I know you guys love Eloy but for me Joey was the spirit of Slipknot . He was also the underdog in the early 2000’s and now for me he is the goat !!!!
you're right, Joey was the spirit of the band. Great technical drummers can play and, eventually improve the songs, but Joey was original. Now we have to wait for new stuff to see how Eloy will increase the Slipknot legacy
@@DiegoToy 2024 for new songs ? Hope so !!
all respects to joey . jay is way to casual with it . eloy just brings everything back to life
Aside from drumming skills, I think Joey's performance was well designed, including headbanging, stick tricks, body movements, etc.
That ghost note..... Eloy is a beast
What it means "ghost notes"?
@@eriicgiese the weak note between the strong note on the snare at minute 2:33 you can hear it better
@@eriicgiese he uses this technique while maintaining intensity. this is quite challenging
Joey wrote and performed the parts and now it's time for Eloy to carry that torch. The torch is going to be in very safe hands ✋️ 🙌
There is no Jay or Eloy without Joey. Respect the goat 🐐
Jay plays the drums drunk
Eloy's ghost notes on the snare are fucking tasty.
Bro watching joey is like watching a legend at his prime like watching aryton Senna's race i cant get enough of Joey's performance at the breakdown moment ❤❤
Eloy is so clean and powerful
Jay 🔥🔥👋👋
Joey 🔥🔥🔥👋👋👋
Eloy 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🏆👋👋👋👋👋
Each one of them crushed it, nothing but respect to all three. But man this new Eloy era is exciting
Eloy with that tasty ghost notes 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One thing that is huge is that Joey was there and a part of the songwriting so, he is in those songs fully 🔥
Could you put the soundtrack over Eloy drum cam ?
eloy's drumming is just insane
NO ONE CAN BEAT THE ORIGINAL
-JOEY 🤟
Eloy does not overcome, but honors the legacy
you can see that Jay is struggling with keeping the pace of the double bass parts so that’s why he replaces them with fills in the end. 😂
So bad. He's all over the place
And here we are in the comments haha
this is really good rage bait
ELOY BEATS THOSE DRUMS LIKE THEY MURDERED HIS FAMILY. THE BPM CONTROL, FEEL, POWER, SPEED AND BRUTALITY IS ALL ON DISPLAY, ELOY=BEAST ❤🤘🏽
1:31 *INSANE TRANSITION*
Look, now I understand the flaws in Jay's double pedal!
Eloy 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🔥
Ok I'm sry but is there even a question?? Eloy really is the best slipknot drummer! 🔥
He has no technique, this technique is called the gorilla found a hammer and notes.
@@pawall3deller468 ah, ok. 🙄
my boy eloy is just built different
Jay looks like he's struggling the entire time. Joey and Eloy make it look effortless. One thing you need to factor in is Eloy has only performed live with Slipknot a few times. He's just going to get better with every performance.
Jay's tempo is messed up. I noticed that from the begging but everyone seemed to be in denial.
Now that I hear Eloy's playing I guess I wasn't that crazy!
Yeah jay always played most of the songs to fast, therefore speeding up the rest of the band, making the song sound rushed compared to clean
Joey made it looks easy, Jay made it sounds easy, Eloy just never easy. Love them all, but for some reason, I love Jay's kicks.
Joey will forever be #1, Eloy is only imitating what Joey wrote and did.
but 100x more aggressive and accurate. joey hit like a pussy eloy's sticks go over his head every single strike and he's just as technical.
"only". give him some props at least holy shit. he's paying tribute to the original sound and ideas, and playing it absolutely flawlessly. don't write it off as "only imitating"
@@ednaldopereira5592 Sorry buddy, Joey can't hear you over the sound of his multi platinum records he wrote and performed on.
💯 Eloy just lack of creativity
@@pablosrf3881i hope that slipknot will make heavy shit with eloy though. i've heard rumours about the new album being really different from all the others. idk what to expect. i really hope they'll make something heavy. can't get a drummer like eloy and make another grey chapter album

Minus points on Eloy for not having long hair to whirl around and a mask that looks like from a toyshop.

Eloy is something else! Unreal power! His timing is so on fckn point.
Eloy doing the blasts with rimshots is just out of this world. Excited to see them live with him - I think it'll be back to the Joey days of energy with the breakdowns being SO hard and on the OG pace
Joey LEGEND, Eloy....... It leaves me speechless to describe what it caused in our minds as Slipknot fans!
All of them are amazing in their own way, but Eloy is one of a kind
I was waiting for someone to make this mix! 🔥
The desire to listen to the band with Eloy is so great that it seems that I met Slipknot now in 2024
Eloy plays like a caveman, and I kinda love it.
Its an honor to have Eloy in slipknot ❤ his energy is everything!
Joey was a beast, and wrote the drums for the songs, but MAAAAAAAN that Eloy
The ghost notes that Eloy played were incredible, he raised the level of the band
Eloys precision blows my head off(both of them)
Eloy's fills sound so damn tight and clean!
What a monster!
All amazing drummers 🍻
This really shouldn't be seen as a comparison of who is better, Joey wrote it, Eloy mastered it. They all three played the f*ck out of it.
Joey is a one! The only! He was the embodiment of sincerity, of desperate humanity! 🤘♾️🕊️
Joey will always be the goat. There will never be another drummer like him but damn Eloy is clean af
- A drummer who plays like a jackhammer, replacing a metronome/drum machine - A shop worker.
- A drummer whose skill has come from generation to generation - Ideological, daddy's maniac.
- The drummer, who really wanted to, lit up like a match! He was completely involved in the process of spiritual creativity with all the limbs of his nature, which was able to shake this world and enter the soul of generations, while promoting the whole composition in world history, becoming an icon of the genre and style, after which it was cruelly abandoned by “Friends” and forgotten as it deteriorated health is the Greatest Baby Joey.
If Joey played drum upside down, Eloy will playing drum while parachuting
Eloy all the way. Too clean to say otherwise.
This is a really cool video and edited very well
Olha como o Eloy toca limpo! Cada nota fantasma, cada chute no bumbo... Tudo extremamente limpo e no tempo perfeito.
Saudades eternas!
Joey all day.
This direct comparison clearly shows how out of time Jay was. So sad Slipknot took so long to hire Eloy.
Joey Jordison forever...for he will always be #1 - and my drum hero.
