But, I believe Eloy is the equivalent to that of this generation. And the guy's ability just cannot be overstated.
As a drummer of 30 years I can safely say that Eloy is better than Joey (in my opinion). Joey was revered because he was so revolutionary and influential but he was never technically even in the top 10. Just like most groundbreaking musicians, they build something new using inspiration from their own idols and musical heroes and thats what Joey did; inspired by the metal bands in his youth (i.e. Slayer, Metalica, Anthrax, Pantera, etc etc) and developing his own style/sound for HIS generation and now his legacy lasts on forever in the pantheon of metal gods like the guys that originally inspired him. Don't get me wrong either, Joey still had some amazing chops and stamina but Eloy is, as Jim said in the video, a _world class_ drummer... i.e. probably the best in his genre right now (and we've all seen how hard he's worked for it). As for Jay Weinberg... nothing personal but lets just take note of the difference in reaction to Eloys first gig and being announced compared to Jays and I think nothing more needs to be said. I have a theory where Jim is the one who pushed heavily and was a main force in dismissing Jay and pushed heavily for Eloy. From everything Ive seen and heard from Jim he sounds like one of the most vocal about something needing to change and the idea of possibly replacing Jay before the next cycle of the band started up. He mentions the replacement of the drummer not happening at a better time. No hate and if true in any way everyone has been respectful. But i can also say from hearing Jay fumble quality and the power needed over an extended period of time, especially with how much video and recordings there are from the last tour which show an inability for in my opinion quality to be kept up to a standard the band had to of known this before any of us and the frustration from it seems to show with Jim more than anyone. i think they knew Jay would be fired once the new creativity and writing new music needed to be started. the 25th anniversary happened to be that. without the constant touring and a need for Jays experience to just fill that seat. i would guess and not be surprised if Jay was let go well before this if they took a break for new music to be written. Jim seems reinvigorated and taking the lead in championing Eloy and the skills he is bringing so far.
I kinda like how they keep changing drummers it kinda proves that nobody is joey and never will be so it's like them constantly changing to really explore their creativity like joey would
wait, Eloy said that he was first contacted by Slipknot's manager :P Man, he prolly just told on him. I bet he would have liked to keep it that way for Sepultura. "hey, they contacted me first, couldn't refuse" , rather than "I was planning to not take part in the tour from the start".
Dude, no one is gonna judge Eloy for taking the throne in Slipknot. Allegedly his drum hero's seat. Especially not his brothers in Sepultura. Im sure they threw him a celebration. Dream job.
@FantasySportsZen I guess you didn't read their announcement. There was bitterness for sure. In any case, he'll yeah. Eloy has more than deserved this and has done really well to have contacted them on his own initiative

“Write music worthy of Eloy’s drumming” Oh my boy 😶
Jim is such a cool dude
Can’t wait to hear new Slipknot music. I’m very excited.
I kinda like how they keep changing drummers it kinda proves that nobody is joey and never will be so it's like them constantly changing to really explore their creativity like joey would
Dumbest shit take ever
Eloy monster Br...🇧🇷🤘🤘
We are not your kind,-album exclusive with Eloy,----Remastered version 2024
I blared that bitch at the the redneck rave
wait, Eloy said that he was first contacted by Slipknot's manager :P Man, he prolly just told on him.
Metalheads are nice people and down to earth. People don't seem to understand that .
I love the mousemat (?) or whatever that is in front of Jim. It's the carpet pattern from "The Shining"!
Slipknot covering Sepultura hits here and there would be cool. All positivereviews for Eloy Casagrande btw
wow, some great comments about Eloy the King man. love this new drummer.
Is that The Shinning hotel carpet mouse pad that Jim has? Dope.
Wow, im so happy for hearing what jim had to say. Future looks very promising
I already knew this but this interview clarified for me that they just weren't feeling jays style and writing abilities. I've heard that's been a problem for years.
great interview thank you guys
Slipknot won the drummer lottery.
Yes! Now we won the world cup!
Jim's a cool dude.
It’s Eloy’s band now. This was always a drummer driving band. And finally since Joey, they have a drummer again.
They had a drummer in Jay. He played Joeys parts perfectly live and helped put out three albums. Stop with the disrespect
@@Themaskplague He did not play them perfectly live, I'm afraid. Sloppy double bass drumming, constant tempo changes, among other things. It's not about respect or lack of it, it's about facts.
@@drumbeard it’s amazing how I never saw one comment about his tempo being off when he was in the band yet since Eloy joined that’s literally all I’m seeing , comments about tempo 😂😂
@@Themaskplague well, you probably never looked well enough, I've been saying this ever since Jay joined the band.
@@Themaskplaguejay wasn’t it lmao
I am not comparing the drummers Eliot is just being him and not jay or Joe they all are at different levels but this man is something different definitely great for all of them they sound incredible
Proof that they are gonna pull some pure brutal insanity next album. But also beautiful stuff cause that unreleased album whenever tf it drops
It’s fucked how Jay is just an after thought.
Slipknot wouldn’t be who they are currently without Jay. He stepped in to fill fucking MASSIVE shoes…imagine coming into a band you grew up idolizing, after their drummer died.
Jay did that. And fucking killed it.
I’m all for this guys success and shot. But the fact that Jay is just kinda tossed under the rug is incredibly upsetting.
For us drummers anyway.
@@Xeroforte What does that have to do with anything I said? Lol
it’s shit what they did no doubt, but there are many drummers at jays level in truth. they’re licking their fingers now eloy is in the frame
@@marks9948 Yea he's a great drummer, dont get me wrong. But Slipknot does people dirty as fuck. I get the "its just business" aspect but they fire talent in a horribly unprofessional way. Made me lose a ton of respect for them as people.
Jay joined slipknot in 2014ish, Joey died in 2021. He did not join after joey died. To correct you
Eloy definitely the best metal drummer 🔥🔥🔥
It's not hard to understand that Eloy's drumming is on another level than Slipknot's overall vibe. Hopefully they will write "harder" music without sacrificing the essence of Slipknot.
Slipknot shows me what it's like to turn life to !magical reality and so masonically epic wow like inventing wheels and cars to go round a d round ever 🎉
Eloy is excited being in the band that instead of sending jim a song he sent him a fvckin drum solos 🤣 damn if they release an album nxt year then im so can't wait!
Jim is a cool fucking dude man
*Joey 🤝 Jay 🤝 Eloy = Y 😎👍*
They should release a single soon.
Luv this
Respeito máximo 🖤
Jay was a great drummer for the band
Eloy was an upgrade to the band man
In fact Slipknot are the ones lucky to have Eloy.
6:12 if creating songs is anything like building a doctoral thesis (hear me out) I hope they don’t waste time trying to fix sub-par music. One of the most time-wasting mistakes I made was to try and fix passages of shitty text, just because I’d invested time in writing them. It was better to start over, you’re not ‘starting from scratch’ because your subconscious will raise something again if it’s any good. btw Jim is such a gifted songwriter 😎
Slipknot, ST, and Sepultura drummer exchange.
How good is that Overlook Hotel carpet at Jims
Great TH-camr. Great cover drummer. Great job talking him up. Let's see if he write anything nearvas good as Joey. Cos Jay couldn't
Politely waiting for Iowa 2.0
LIT 2024 $
IOWA IS BACK!!!
Eloy needs to teach Jim how to say his name right 😂
their next album is gonna BLOW!
Everyone butchers the pronunciation on Eloy's name.
Eloy is a great drummer..... But stop describe him like a God
Eloy & tortilla man r incredible assets to slipknot. Craig’s replacement Jeff, not so much. He needs to go back to blue man group.
Better than World Cup lol
11:03 that’s true 😂😂😂
i'd be crying if was jay rn lmao
