Hi friends, the Sealed to Savored Canning Guide will be available with another Zoom call again soon! I'll let you know as soon as it is! Much love, Chelsea
Hi, I just found your channel and excited to be a new subbie. I don't see the download for your canning guide. I am new to canning and want/need resources. I appreciate. Thanks.
I love your channel and watch it almost every day. I am 75 and rarely do any big canning projects anymore. But that being said I grew up with a mother who canned, grew, gleaned all the fruits and vegetables. We never said we were bored or you found yourself out in the garden weeding. I laugh about it now. My mother is long gone but she is in my heart and watching your channel reminds me so much of my Italian mother. She loved 3 things deeply, her children, and cooking and canning, baking. You name it. She didn't have all the amazing things you have but she was fine doing it the "hard" way. One year we lived in a logging camp, and she had a old camp stove lugged to the sand bar and did our washing. God Bless and Take care. Maria
@angelal6700 you can use any size canner you have. If it's a big one, you'd just be processing a few jars in these small batch recipes rather than filling it to capacity with several jars that you get from larger batches. If you are looking for your first canner, get on that accommodates about 4-7 quart jars. That way, you can start with a manageable sized one. I like the Kitchen Crop Steam canner. It's the best. Happy canning!! 🌞
It took a few weeks to get to this but it was on my mind since you uploaded it. My farmers market had beets this week so I knew this weekend was the time. I have six glorious half pints sitting on my counter cooling down now. Well, five are cooling down. One is almost empty because we’ve been nibbling on it spoon by spoon. It is SO delicious. Thank you so much for passing the recipe along!
Like you I saw right away that the chicken pot pie wasn't going to turn out exactly right. I tried it a few times and ended it up turning it into soup each time. The best way for those pies is to make your recipe cool and pour into unbaked pie shells and freeze. Being single I make quite a few 6" pies every few months turkey, beef and chicken. Really enjoy popping them into my toaster to bake. Can't wait to try your other recipes. I could almost smell them thru the screen 🤩
I love this video! Small batch canning is just what I need because there are only two of us, and unfortunately, our likes and dislikes vary. I love watching all of your videos!! Thank you for your time and energy!!
I absolutely love watching all of your videos but adore your canning and shopping videos so so wish I was able to do canning and homesteading but it’s not something that I will ever be able to do due to my health problems so I live vicariously through you Thankyou for sharing your life with us
Now that we’re empty nesters I tend to small batch can more often, (except for big garden harvest times), so I really loved today’s content. Definitely trying all 3 colourful ones - they look so scrumptious! Thank you for all your efforts at bringing simple and delicious recipes to us all ! Love my time spent in your kitchen 😊
I just wanted you to know that I made up some of your rhubarb strawberry pie filling. I filled tarts with some of it, then thought I'd try a loaf. It turned out really nice. Cream together 1/3 C sugar 1/3 C butter 1 tsp orange zest Add in 2 eggs 1 pint of the rhubarb filling drained - about 1 1/4 C 1 tsp vanilla Mix and add 1 1/2 C flour 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt I added chopped pecans and white chocolate chips Bake at 350 for about 1 hour.
I printed out your Canning Guide and love it! You put it together beautifully. Thank you so much! Now it’s time to print out today’s recipes. You’re a gem!!
Have you ever considered doing a farm-acy video? Showing things like the plants you grow, what you use them for or don't use them for, how you preserve them and what doses to take. That would be a goody!!
I am not a fan of beets, but my grandma makes these cinnamon candied beets that have the texture of relish but are a sweet-tart treat. Highly recommend.
That was my family's favorite that we canned was the chicken pot pie filling and the ground meat with sauce base. First things we ran out of besides apple sauce.
You are amazing..you're like- I just mixed up and made some icecream while I was doing a million other things..like it was no big deal! 😂 multi tasking at its finest.
I had a LOT of cantaloupe one summer and found a recipe for cantaloupe bread, which is like a banana bread or zucchini bread. We really liked it as did my farmer's market customers.
This is awesome! I love your approach to food and life but, there are only two of us now and I get a bit overwhelmed by the sheer volume you produce. Have been binge watching you while I am home with two broken arms. Looking forward to next year when I'm back in action and put into practice what I am learning.
Thank you Chelsea. What I have made with the cantaloupe at the end of summer is juice it with mainly watermelon and apples. It is a delicious drink easy to freeze. I am getting to the end of it from last year and look forward to making it again this summer. Take care.
They looked delicious. Thanks for the canning guide also. I appreciate all the time and effort you have poured into it to get who have never canned, to can.
I too like the small batch videos as my children are grown and gone and the two of us can only consume so much food, especially jams, jellies and desserts!
Hi Chelsea I made this rhubarb filling tonight and WOW!! It is delicious. I ate it over brown cow maple yogurt as a dessert, it won't last long. Thanks for another great recipe.
I love watching your videos and all you do, Chelsea! When you say the recipes, etc, are in the show notes, I have never found them. I am watching on TH-cam on my Android phone if that makes a difference.
Hello Chelsea, thank you for your videos, I like watching them, whatever the subject is. For the cantaloupe, my mom makes a wonderful jam, et I'll try to make sorbet this summer. Loves from France 😘
Thoroughly enjoy watching all of your videos. Another idea for the cantaloupe that we used to do is treat it as a dessert and eat it with vanilla ice cream. It does taste better if the cantaloupe is good and cold.
I pick up the Taste Of Home Canning Book anytime I see them at Thrift Stores . The Million Dollar Relish I can’t keep on my shelves, I make it several times a year .
I have to get into Small batch , it’s just two of us at home but I love to share. Last year I did 120# of Dills, Bread n Butter, Hamburger Chips and 40# of Pickled Asparagus.
Cut your cantaloupe rounds, & put a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream in the middle. Great quick desert. You could probably use up 2 cantaloupe's at a time with your large family. Dan can put other fruits in the center of his. Yummy.
As a treat, my mom would cut a cantaloupe in half and put a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the scooped out part for breakfast on Saturday when we'd go to the beach. It was a hint at what was in store for the day. I think of my mom every cantaloupe season. ❤
I made a salted canteloupe jam (I made it with scotch bonnets but that was optional) and it was really delicious! The spicy version was great with cheese.
Once years ago I found and made a cantaloupe jam that was very, very good - just don't know where the recipe is, so now I have an alternative and am happy. All the recipes look good and I hope to make them this year. Down here in Florida, I can NEVER find rhubarb fresh - don't know why but maybe it doesn't ship well. Two years ago I came across some and made a rhubarb pie and it was not very good, at all! So this year, I hope to find some so I can try again - love rhubarb so much!
I come across it every so often, dehydrated cantaloupe. I've had it both regular and candied (soaked in sugar before dehydrating). Both were done to a soft gummy consistency. Very delicious. You can also puree and reduce, then dehydrated for cantaloupe fruit rolls. There is also the cold summer soup approach.
I made with our very ripe cantaloupes a sauce - it was a jam recipe originally but it didn't set well. We liked it SO much, we kept the "sauce" recipe and I add it to our kombucha if I have extras (its wonderful!) as it is a great sauce over chicken on the grill or our venison on the grill. The caramelization from the grill takes it to a new level.
Yes, Chelsea, the Presto stove top canner is the same style as ForeJars canner. Got 2, 18-qt canners. Now, the gasket is good for a couple -3 years of service, but the little emergency release plug, rubber, does need to be replaced more often. And had to be ordered from Presto, no Amazon vendor subs. (But the gasket can be!)
Thank you so much for the guide, I received it and have it ready to use 😊 Just for your info, I love canning ready made meals, one favourite is Drunken Pork, perfect to serve over basmati rice. I’ve also made the chicken pot pie in broth. It’s great as a soup or as pot pie filling once thicken when open. Love your videos!😊❤
I want to can so bad eh!! I bought my first 12 cans …. Cost me a fortune to bring in … but I am determined…. THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME , THE EFFORT TO TEACH ME HOW TO CAN !❤❤❤
You know what would be a great video? If you did a compilation of how you use different things you can. I have only ever eaten pickle relish and only on hot dogs. Do you have lots of applications for each thing you can or do they generally go towards certain meals? I did cowboy candy last year and we aren't really using it. Lately we have seen you try new recipes with us, which are always fun. But... I'm fairly new to the channel, so would love to see you use more from the pantry for those of us with not as much experience eating canned food!
Also, when a recipe calls for 1lb of something, like tomatoes for example, is it safe to assume the 1lb is the product after it has already been chopped, pitted, and seeds removed? I am so thankful for your videos! I'm going to try canning for the first time this summer and it's a little intimidating!
I have a Presto pressure canner, which is very similar to the ForJars. I love it. The All American is too heavy for me. And if you don’t lubricate the rim well enough, the lid can lock up on you.
I made a batch of the Strawberry Rhubarb pie filling today, and it was really great, and so easy to make. I will be making another batch of it. I think the next batch I might lessen the amount of orange zest as I thought it overpowered the Rhubarb and Strawberry flavors a little too much.
Wow. I really enjoyed this video. When I came across this video, it reminded me that you were recommended by a couple other people I watch like Mama Baird as well as another lady I watch. I've been wanting to learn how to water bath as I live in an apt so I've limited space. 😊

Me too. 🤚

I really appreciate small batch canning videos. The big batches are too intimidating for me at this point in time. 👍🏻👍🏻
That’s wonderful to hear, I’ll try to do more for you.
@@LittleMountainRanch Thank you!
Same here! I also like that you get to try out more things this way.
What size canner?

Love the way you’re trying the recipes before making large batches. Smart
So glad to find a small batch canning video, and nice to see another canadian canning I live in s/E Ont.
So kind of you to help us out with the free guide. We love and appreciate you
I love all the different canning and cooking! You don’t do the same mundane food we all cook with no differences. I also love your cookbook 🎉

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to join you and watch you do home canning today. I enjoy canning too.
My grandmother made a refreshing dessert ,chunked cantaloupe and sliced bananas , then she covered it in orange juice delicious for summer ❤
Thanks sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing!

I just wanted you to know that I made up some of your rhubarb strawberry pie filling. I filled tarts with some of it, then thought I'd try a loaf. It turned out really nice.
Cream together
1/3 C sugar
1/3 C butter
1 tsp orange zest
Add in 2 eggs
1 pint of the rhubarb filling drained - about 1 1/4 C
1 tsp vanilla
Mix and add
1 1/2 C flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
I added chopped pecans and white chocolate chips
Bake at 350 for about 1 hour.
I printed out your Canning Guide and love it! You put it together beautifully. Thank you so much! Now it’s time to print out today’s recipes. You’re a gem!!
What a lot of effort you put into this video! Thanks so much, Chelsea. 😍🇨🇦
Lime and cantaloupe is my absolute favorite flavor combo. The “butter” sounds delish.
Cantaloupe sorbet! So delicious.
Smart!! Small batch test batches - the wave of my future!! Thanks Chelsea
Have you ever considered doing a farm-acy video?
Showing things like the plants you grow, what you use them for or don't use them for, how you preserve them and what doses to take.
That would be a goody!!
Love these small batch canning recipes. I love your easy can do talks with us.
I had to check the date when you mentioned fires, I hope you all stay safe
I am not a fan of beets, but my grandma makes these cinnamon candied beets that have the texture of relish but are a sweet-tart treat. Highly recommend.
That sounds amazing! Would she possibly let you share the recipe?
Just found you!!! Canadian 🇨🇦!! I’m from the maritimes!
LOVE this small batch canning video idea! I am just starting to can and only make small batches. This is so very helpful and fun to watch!

I wish I liked rhubarb. These recipes sound so good! I am going to try them and if I still don't like rhubarb I can use them for gifts.😊🌞
I had a LOT of cantaloupe one summer and found a recipe for cantaloupe bread, which is like a banana bread or zucchini bread. We really liked it as did my farmer's market customers.
Try cantaloupe sorbet, it’s delicious.

Made the strawberry rhubarb filling, had some left and am happy to announce it also tastes very well with runny chocolate cake 😄
So excited to print the canning guide-Thank you!
That is brilliant. Do small batch to see if you like the recipe and how many jars you want .
Wonderful looking recipes; thanks for sharing & teaching. You make everything seem easy! Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦

I'm going to try the granny Smith apples with my rhubarb and strawberries, yours was beautiful and I love the tartness.
Your canning guide is fabulous! Thank you.

You should try cantaloupe rind preserves.

yum!
Thank you. Everything looked really easy and really yummy!

Where are you from?
Not sure where you're at but Menards and ace hardware even have ball jars to start out
I love the idea of the diced apple in the rhubarb pie filling. It makes sense that it would help thicken the pie filling.
Very good!
I have seen recipes for rhubarb custard that looked simple to make and delicious. Maybe something your family would enjoy
You know what would be a great video?

I am waiting on a ForJars Canner.. so that you like it is fantastic news
Looks yummy. Wish i could taste it too..greets from Holland

I would love an update on the chicken pot pie filling. Sounds delicious but I don’t wanna make it until I hear if you would make any changes.
I love making chicken pot pie filling and serving over mashed potatoes rather than a crust.
