Hi Laurence, thanks for posting, I've just found your videos, its my first season with a greenhouse and they've been very helpful. I have followed your instructions on using grow pots and so far my tomatoes are doing great, thanks and best wishes for the rest of the season keep the good advice coming.
Hi, I'm very impressed with your video. I'm going to try your planting this year in my greenhouse. It's so much tidier and easier to maintain the tomatoe plants. Thanks so much. Keep up your videos.
Those pots don't seem to be sold here in USA, I emailed the company and they said they had no dealer over here in USA. Not sure what the big deal is about that two rim boat anyway. Can't see what watering on outer rim and fertilze in interrim make a big deal. Just put the plant in the soil or maybe a peatmoss pot from transplant.
Hi Thank you so much for the fabulously informative video. My question is will this system work for the southern California weather. Thank you in advance for your reply.
Love your videos and I have subscribed. I find your videos more relevant because I am in the UK. I am trying these grow pots for the first time this year and now at least I know how to use them properly. Thank you. Very clear and helpful.
How often do you water and with what mixture of tomato fertiliser? What variety of tomatoes were these? Great video nice and clear! Am definitely going to try this.
+Roz Brooks Thanks for popping in and for your kind words. A rule of thumb for watering is to do it when the surface is dry. Don't overdo it if you plant into growbags like me. I prepare the bags by cutting two long slots out in the bottom of the bags so excess water easily drains out. Feeding once a week is fine with a tomato fertiliser you can purchase from a garden center, these are specially formulated. To your success.
Thankyou for the video as its very informative for beginners which I have only grown tomato plants but would like information on pruning them if possible. Many thanks
That was an informative video, lots of useful tips. I am a novice gardener and my enthusiasm has sparked interest in my teenage son, so this year I am introducing gardening to him and we are learning together. I grew cherry and baby plum tomato plants from a garden centre outside last year and they were very successful. I have just invested in a greenhouse and this year my son and I are experimenting with growing tomatoes from seed, then transplanting them to grow bags in the greenhouse. We like the idea of using the pots you showed in your video. Could you provide a link of where to purchase these from? Many thanks and all the best :)
kyla porter I have two wires running in parallel through brackets along the length of the greenhouse. I then tie in a length of cane at right angles to the wires above each bag. I then tie a length of string dangling down above each tomato plant. I secure the twine at the base of the plant - wrap excess twine around the base to secure it and ensure the length is not to taut but a little slack - and as the plant grows and ensuring there is sufficient growth, I gently rotate the vine around the string.
Hello Laurence, I live in the states and can't seem to locate the tomato grow pots you are using to press into the bags. What are these called exactly or do you know of a supplier that carries these in the USA? I just discovered your videos recently, really like them. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for a great video, easy to follow, 2017 will be my first season with a greenhouse, there is so much to learn, and video's like yours will be a great help.
clive stpetebeach Hi Clive. Thank you, you will enjoy your new greenhouse as it adds an extension and versitility to the growing season. Happy growing!

Hi littlefrodo19, yes they really do a great job. Yep, me too! but it don't matter if they don't, I have my trusty cherry tomatoes, Gardeners Delight - they're so yummy. I appreciate you dropping by. I hope your growing something....
Hi Laurence! After watching all of your videos among many others I eventually managed to upload my first video of my mini allotment. Essentially a very small plot in my garden. First time to record a garden video and attempt a small bit of editing. Would love a view or a comment and maybe even a subscription. Always look forward to your latest updates and will try the tomatoes in the grow bag idea this year. Thanks! Mossy Sent from my iPad
Nice instructional video! Thanks. I think, the main benefits of these grow pots are - they look neat and make it easy for watering. Other than that we don't really need these for encouraging plants to grow more roots as we could easily achieve that by planting longer lengths of tomato stems in the soil if we plant them more horizontally in the bag. The plant parts that are out side the bag straighten themselves up in no time due to their natural tendency to grow upwards.
Can you help please? I planted 6 plants in my grow bag and they are now 6 weeks old and about a foot high! Also put two varieties in. Can I move them or separate them now or is it too late? Anything I can do?
@Michelle Hodgen Hi, it's not to late. You don't say where you're planting them into but I grow them in two to a grow bag as you have seen. So just do as I have done and don't concern yourself about not have grow pots.Happy #harvesting. 'The feeling grows!'.
Hi Laurence, eternally grateful for your time and getting back to me. I planted in a giant grow bag in my small greenhouse. I live in the city but have a small roof terrace. I so scared of killing the tomato's by moving them from the grow bag. I've bought another grow bag today and as you say, if it's not too late, I'll have a go. and move them. Thanks for your advice.
Mama Spooky Hi, Of course, not all insects etc that inhabit my greenhouse are pests! I often read how some folk go round with a small paint brush and stroke the inside of flowers thereby pollinating them. Gosh, what a laborious job. In 30 yrs of growing tomatoes I have never done that and still had great harvests. It is bees that are often referred to as the pollinators, they do a fantastic job, but even if you don't see any, there should be many other insects etc. which will have a wander around the inside of the tomato blossom and do just as good a job... Happy harvests, Mama.
I've never heard of those pots, but what a neat idea. I hope your new variety gives you a great yield!
Hi Laurence, I like the idea of using string rather than canes and will definitely give that a try.
Thanks For The Information

Hi Matteo, thanks for your kind words. Nothing special about it, just ordinary garden twine. Happy growing.

An how do you secure the string?

Thanks LulzNZ. Grateful for your very kind comments. Trust you're having a reasonably settled winter down there...Keep strong.

Hi. Great vids. Can't seem to locate these serrated edged pots. Can you tell me the name of them or where to buy? Thanks

Something I never thought of is to let the plant grow some before adding more soil or compost. It makes sense.
What a nice size greenhouse. I'm growing tomatoes in my greenhouse, interesting technique
If you find them post so I can get me some! lol Very neat idea.
very good video keep up the good work
Any idea where to get these pots in the US?

Great video! Very helpful indeed!
what material is that string?
great video!
I noticed you earlier noted that the reason you grow in grow bags in the green house is to avoid pests, please tell me how they get pollinated.
