    You discovering that VESA plate quick release is pure genius. I ordered immediately from your link. Also the bit about the color calibrator leaving a mark on the screen was something I wondered about for years. Thanks again. I do extensive photo and video work and will check out your other videos for sure. I certainly understand and appreciate your challenges and attention to the lighting with all your camera angles.

    • @BuildOrBuy

      Hi Suzanne Kammerer,
      That took a lot of Research, maybe 6 months to find those Parts! Everyone Lists them differently! For example, every Grip Gear manufacturer makes some type of VESA Mount. Some Mounts are Multi Purpose while others are Single Purpose! Lots of digging through copious amounts of information!
      Appreciate Your Support! The color monkey puck mark left on the screen was very annoying! Three Point Lighting is simple when using 1 Camera. Adding Cameras for different shots or angles complicates the Lighting setup. I need to do a major overhaul of that but in time. More important right now to communicate the technology Viewers need 1st! To do a full light canopy overhead is going to require a bit of time and expense that's hard to justify right now! We need to cover some of the newer VESA Mounts as an example! Success on setting up Your Studio!

      @@BuildOrBuy Since I've been a pro photographer for 50+ years, I can't count the number of lighting set-ups I've created thru the years. Rip stop nylon makes for a great and cheap "dome" in smallish spaces. I have G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome) so thanks for contributing while I wait for my ASUS ProArt monitor to arrive.

    Hi Gill, nice video! Now I'm preparing to build a WRX80 3955wx build. It's mainly for music production, runing DAWs stuff. For SSDs, I'm hesitating whether I need a U.2 drive or just stick with M.2s. Those Asus WRX80 got 2 U.2 ports and I saw that normaly U.2 drives are more durable, but cost a little more. what's your opinion on those drives, do I need those U.2s for 1.3 DWPD or normal M.2s (usually 0.3 DWPD) as SN850 is fine?

    • @BuildOrBuy
      @BuildOrBuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Damien Chai,
      Welcome! Thank You very much! Congrats on Your decision to Build WRX80! Smart choice! U.2 vs M.2 and both being NVMe. We could do a Video just on that Topic alone!
      Short Answer, stick with M.2 NVMe. Better value.
      Longer Answer, U.2 has a higher capacity, right now but at a substantial price. M.2 has a greater Speed. Chances are, You'll migrate to a new Drive in maybe 2 to 3 years. This is a 10 year Computer.
      1. U.2 NVMe is PCIe 3.0 = 3,500MBps
      2. M.2 NVMe
      3. PCIe 3.0 M.2 = 3,500MBps.
      4. PCIe 4.0 M.2, 1st Generation = 5,000MBps.
      5. PCIe 4.0 M.2, 2nd Generation = 7,000MBps.
      6. PCIe 4.0 M.2, 3rd Generation = 7,300MBps.
      7. The WD Black SN 850 is PCIe 4.0 M.2, 2nd Generation = 7,000MBps.
      amzn.to/3olDXpr
      8. The Seagate FireCuda 530 is PCIe 4.0 M.2, 3rd Generation = 7,300MBps.
      amzn.to/3L73dK0
      As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Appreciate Your Support!
      The faster Drive as Listed above is also less expensive. Hope that helps!
      BTW: Which Audio interface are You planning on using? Thunderbolt?

      @ChaiMingze 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuildOrBuy Wow that's a quick response, appreciate that!
      I'm using RME's audio interface and that's USB all the way, not a fan of thunderbolt.
      So as you've said, basically M.2's lifespan is enough for average workstation usage. There are some hilarious Optane 5800 drives which got 100dwpd and crazy expensive, figured out that's not for me.
      Actually I'd like to know how many GBs writes per day we can go upto if heavily used

    • @maxhughes5687
      @maxhughes5687 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChaiMingze Well I read GEN4 M.2 drives are rated for the full drive capacity delete and write every day for three years. The Firecuda 530 is rated the full drive capacity delete and write every day for five years. Both are a lot but four 2TB Firecuda drives cost $240 more than four Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus 2TB drives. It's your money. With four drives in a raid0 each drive should only W/R one fourth of each operation and up the lifespan to four times that of a single 8TB drive. IDK but I think that's right. Best Wishes.

      Hi@@ChaiMingze,
      Good timing since We had a Video Premiere today then right back into getting the next Video Filmed! Another smart choice on Your part! I think most who are using Thunderbolt for Audio, do so as it is trendy. Or seen as a hot topic. USB is safer and proven to work. Besides the Thunderbolt Audio interfaces are using proprietary plug-ins and that's going to be a problem later on. The most important aspect of an Audio interface is Latency then the Mic preamps.
      To Your Question, We'd need to pick a Drive for example like the WD Black SN850 and verify the Stats for Endurance. The WD Black SN850 according to their own Specs state: Endurance (TBW) on 2TB 1,200 TBW (terabytes written) values calculated using JEDEC client workload (JESD219) and vary by product capacity. And in comparing those Stats, the 2TB has a higher Endurance than the 1TB or 500GB versions. And those have a 5 year warranty. Replace them in 3 years. Done. Does that help? Great Question!

      Hi Mohammd Atef,
      Welcome! Great Question! Subjective. Depends upon Your Color Grading Requirements. For Entry level Color Grading, no. Done. However for more critical Color Grading, You would want a different Monitor that might be recalibrated several time per day depending upon ambient light bleed and surrounding temperatures. Color Grading can be taken to the level of an Art as much as Science. However, to reiterate, on this scale, no Color Monkey required! Hope that helps! Thanks for Asking!

    • @BuildOrBuy

      Hi appennini1,
      Welcome! Great Question! Depends. Not a fair comparison. What's Your intended use? One is an Entry Level Color Grading Monitor. The other is not. One is 4K the other is not. One has a Brightness of 400 nits while the other has a Brightness of 300 nits. One has 100% sRGB & 100% Rec 709 while the other has 99% sRGB. One has color certification while the other does not.
      Changing one thing changes everything. All depends upon usage. Look at the Specs and see which one measures up. To reiterate these are not the same for comparison by any measure. They are both very different. Have You Tested the ASUS ProArt yet? Test and Verify! Hope that helps! Now tell Us more about what You're Searching for in a Monitor.

      @@BuildOrBuy Hi, thanks for replying, the ProArt PA278QV arrives on Friday, I haven't tried it yet. The use is very generic (therefore both monitors could be fine) home/office, multimedia, therefore web browsing, text reading, viewing of multimedia contents, occasionally I also happen to edit some videos, I'm not interested in gaming. I was looking for a monitor without black bleeding and ips glow, but since this is not possible at this point I'm just trying to choose the least worst, for me black uniformity is important for viewing multimedia content. The Dell S2721QS in terms of color accuracy after calibration is almost identical to the ProArt PA278QV, but I should buy a colorimeter to calibrate the Dell S2721QS, I chose the ProArt PA278QV because it is already factory calibrated, the black uniformity is the Text clarity seems superior to me on the Dell S2721QS. Try going to the rtings website, compare the two monitors, both are excellent for this reason I was undecided between the two, for this reason I don't know if I made the right choice.

      Hi@@CanaleTH-camGeneralista,
      Got it. Based on Your Description, You've made the best choice. Yes, even a factory Calibration should be recalibrated since that can change over time and circumstances can fluctuate. Keep Us Posted on Your Progress!

      @@BuildOrBuy Okay thanks I'll keep you posted, I don't feel like returning it, I hope it doesn't come with dead pixels or something. I bought a Benq Ex240 and had to return it due to excessive black bleeding.

      Hi@@CanaleTH-camGeneralista,
      A Brand to avoid, BenQ. Definitely check for dead or stuck pixels. Nothing like Test and Verify! Looking forward to Your thoughts.

      Hello Clive,
      Welcome! Differences are slight. CV is newer. Has Wider Color Gamut; smaller Swivel range; USB-C; DisplayPort In and Out for Daisy's chaining. Hope that helps! Thanks for Watching!

      Hi Grace Taylor,
      Use whichever You prefer. HDMI is the least hassle. Sometimes DisplayPort can be troublesome. What does Your Video card require?
      BTW: How do You like the Monitor?

    • @gracetaylor8130
      @gracetaylor8130 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuildOrBuy I don't know anything about the video card. Bought a new tower with a video card big enough for gaming. I used the HDMI and did get my ProArt connected. I like the look of it but the screen goes black every now and then or goes white with nothing on it. Then in a few seconds it comes back. Very annoying!

      Hi@@gracetaylor8130,
      Does that happen every 15 minutes? Sounds like Windows Hibernation. Change the Power Profile in Windows Control Panel to High Performance. Set the Monitor to stay on always. Hope that helps!

      Hi Andrei Bades,
      Welcome! Great Question! Changing one thing can change everything! This should do the job but he needs to Try it Out and see if this meets his expectations! Doing CAD is a bit different than Entry Level Color Grading. The Specs: Pixels Per Inch (PPI) : 109. He'll know pretty quickly if that's acceptable as well as if the Blacks are Bright and Deep enough. Let Us know what He thinks! Hope He loves the Monitor! Hope this helps!
      My concern, he may prefer a 4K Monitor with Higher Brightness value. Something larger. Example below.
      ASUS ProArt PA329C 32” 4K (3840 x 2160) HDR10 DisplayHDR600 Monitor 100% Adobe RGB IPS Eye Care DisplayPort USB Type-C HDMI, Black
      amzn.to/3PDgDAb
      Pixels per Inch: 138 ; To reiterate, 600 nits! That's much Brighter than the other Monitor! As an Amazon Affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases! Hope that helps!

      @@BuildOrBuy He stays pretty near the screen and when I put a 27” 1080p first he tell me that it’s too big, as for 4k ,He’s using a thinkpad dock(40a2) and only supports 4k at 30hz, and I don’t think it’s that great. I’l let you know tomorrow. If that monitor it’s an upgrade over the xiaomi 1080p budget monitor I think I’m good.

    I have this monitor and It does not work with 24 fps video from a Blackmagic or AJA box. I didn't know that when I bought that and it screwed me. You cannot do accurate color correction unless the monitor is attached via a Blackmagic or AJA device. Using HDMI or Displayport right out of the computer with editing or CC is not valid for REC709 editing. Don't buy this monitor if you are a professional using a proper rec 709 display pipeline. You really need to explain to. your viewers that using the Computer output is not valid for editing or color correction.

      Hi jason carey,
      We have a bunch of Comments I'm getting through and am working backwards so just now seeing this message. Thanks for Sharing. To reiterate, this Video is about Entry Level. Not everyone is ready to embrace the foray of what Color Correction entails. Color Correction takes a Commitment to Time and Resources. We have talked extensively about Color Correction and Color Grading but this is the 1st time on Video. A starting point. Just like the links provided in the Description to wet the appetite. Appreciate Your Comments!
