    Another Great video guys, and you're absolutely correct, the 'fat' is the most destructive and humiliating shot you can hit. Great drills, and your advice about 'Slo' Mo' gets you there faster is spot on.

    The golf swing is not as simple as "keep your head down". I really enjoyed this session. You packed several great concepts into this video and the two different "centers" mentioned here hit home for me - sometimes I feel like there are four and I just can't manage to keep them in the right order#*?. We all know that "perfect contact" when we hit it but knowing how to repeat it is the holy grail. I don't know if it is poor discipline or just bad, early habits that keep that holy grail swing out of my reach but I am definitely going to work on this today and see if I can feel it. I could relate to everything you said. Thanks, guys. (I wish there was a multiple thumbs up I could hit on this one!)

    The closed clubface drill is amazing but I have a question. How do you transition it to your swing cause if you do the same thing with a square clubface and make the same move the blade is open at impact? Thanks

    The great things about your videos (Besides just plain great content) is that even though I normally don't hit too many fat shot (as I'm a professional scooper), I got a lot of really good things to work on.

    When working on changes in your swing, should you stick with one club or work your way through the bag? Thanks. Great videos!

      Brian Cianchetti depends on what your working on but in general one club is good. 7-8 iron typically

    Great video guys! Quick question, will I normally hold the club with it super strong pointing in then hit solid during play too or is this strictly for drill? Thank you!

    That was one of your best videos to date. But, I have to say that I figured out the shut-face-at-address thing YEARS AGO; and I actually play that way -- (it's really just a strong grip with the forearms relaxed) ---AND I STILL HIT IT FAT ON AT LEAST HALF OF MY SHOTS FROM THE FAIRWAY!
    You have confirmed that I am on the right track but it seems that NOTHING is going to get me to predictably turn through impact with the correct timing to avoid fat contact. But I thank you for addressing what is for me, the bane of my golfing experience. Nice try!

    When after centering does the upper go back from lower to contact ball? Your not centered at contact are you?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both the upper and lower bodies should be forward from where they started at address. The lower typically 4-5". The upper about 1/2 that.

    New to the channel. Enjoying the content, however the taller guy tends to interrupt A TON. Let the shorter guy finish his sentence or thought then you can build on that. Just my opinion. Great drill by the way! Great channel!

    Not my story but it was told to me and I loved it. This older player tells me he watched Jack Nicklaus lay the sod over, and hit it like 10 yds. He walks up to his ball gets his yardage with his caddie and, in pure Nicklaus fashion of forgetting about the last shot, proceeds to stuff it to like 2 ft to save the par. This occurred in around the 250 yds out on a par 5. Again not my story but it sure sounds good and just shows we all hit it fat at some point.

    Can’t decide which I hate most, a chunk shot or a 3-put. smh

  • @Badfinger4
    @Badfinger4 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was told by an instructor that my fat shots were the result of a clubface that was way too closed. The leading edge was digging way too much into the ground at impact and I was laying some major sod over it. He weakened my grip a bit and it worked wonders for me. If I did what these guys are advocating, it would only make my problem severely worse. I guess this is why golf is such a tough sport--one size definitely doesn't fit all when it comes to fixing your swing issues.

    • @MrSiegal80
      @MrSiegal80 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The clubface would be closed at impact because you would be rapidly trying to close it from a open position coming into impact perhaps?

    John Daly has a fun book and his advice isn’t take a practice swing and play the ball back we’re the divot starts. ;)

    Whenever I move my upper center and lower center forward to get good contact, my head jumps in front of the ball. Suggestions?

    • @emncaity
      @emncaity 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't move your upper and lower centers forward.
      If I had half an hour, I could give you 40 or more references to "staying behind the ball" by the greatest teachers and players in the history of the game, but right off the top we could start with people like Penick and Nicklaus.
      Also, there's no need to have an extreme weight shift. It's more of a bump from trail side to lead side, a change of axis from around the inside of the trailing leg to the inside of the lead leg, but not a lunge or lean of the upper body down the line, and not a big lateral move of the lower body either.

    • @Brian-wg9wk
      @Brian-wg9wk 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      stephen f these guys explain in the video that with their 3d motion captures, people do not lean back, the move their centers forward. So does nicklaus, he just keeps his head back.

    • @emncaity
      @emncaity 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Brian-wg9wk Take a look at their "Golf Swing Lateral Motion: Pros vs Ams" video. At 1:59, address shows the centerline to be a little farther behind the ball than the width of the clubhead. At impact (2:38), the centerline is in pretty much exactly the same spot.
      Part of the difficulty is in what "the center" is. You have to think three-dimensionally, which is to say that the center isn't on the front of the body as viewed in a 2D video or photo, but back in the body toward the spine. It's true that by the _end_ of the swing, whatever can be identified as the "center" has moved targetward. But if you get your centerline moving forward much past the point where it was at address, and especially past the ball on any shot requiring a shallow approach into the ball (or even slightly ascending, in the case of the driver), it's going to cause problems. Once you get past the ball it's a rescue operation.

    Shanks everyone pretends they do don't see it and don't say a word.
    Fatties everyone busts up laughing.
    Golf is ridiculous.

    The fat shot is essentially an instant one shot penalty since you do not advance the ball. Major suckage. 😡

    Most dangerous shot? The one right after a SHANK.
