if you were counting all the way to seven (for whatever reason have you) a good way to count it is using the term "set" because it's one syllable. but I prefer breaking it up into 2's and 3's.
Rock Band actually helps beginners developing independence pretty good. Expert RB drummers have to have a very solid 3 way independence. However it doesn't help in hand or foot technique, drum dynamics, texture, timing(body clock), creativity or utilising the kit to it's fullest. It's definitely not real drums not even close but it's better than nothing.

I usually hear sev being spoken but yeah a good concept to keep things flowing in the monosyllabic manner
