I do like the new front end, I think it looks cleaner. After watching this video, I'm glad Brandon did point out the body panels. I totally missed that and the fake light bar. But hopefully it looms better in person.
First and foremost, it's awesome to have you back my dude. Yeah, and what you mentioned on the front grill, I agree with you. I'll still keep my 2023 EN. Great review.
The front end don’t looks as aggressive as the old one but the new rear bumper is so ugly way to much black and it’s plastic they should of kept the old bumper
I like the new front end. It looks so much better than the old one. Wheels are ugly. Hyundai/Kia designers just do not know how to design good looking wheels.
Thanks for sharing your feedback! Honestly for me the rear with the red underbody spoiler all the way around looks great. I personally love the way the EN looked before, glad I got mine '22 and I'm def gonna keep it for a long while!
Great review. Agree with the fake light bar. Unless there is a performance upgrade- I’m going to put some pressure on a 2023 performance blue manual sitting on a lot near my work 😊 with the hope I can save some money for new all black wheels.
"Quick! Let's make every car look like the Lucid Air." -every car manufacturer. I like this but the current gen version looks better as it has its own identity Old civic type R looks better too than the new one.
Personally, I think that the refresh is alright. The front end is okay for me, although it does remind me of the mk8 VW golfs. I love that the badges come black from factory -- blacking out the badges was the first mod I did right away. As for the wheels, I dislike them compared to the current gens rims. I also think that the round design doesn't work with the cars sharp edges as the old ones do. And my least favorite part of this face-lift is the rear end. I like that the red trim rolls around the side, unlike mine, but I hate that the black plastic runs so far up the rear bumper. Other than that, I'd say it is an improvement in some areas, and a step in the wrong direction in other aspects. Two steps forward, one step back. I think this can all be forgiven if they have a performance boost, but that is HIGHLY unlikely. But hey, there's always room for surprise.
Other than the wheels, it looks great. As a 2023 buyer who had no idea about the refresh, I wish I got the newer one haha. Hopefully coversion kits will exist even if aftermarket.
I'm impartial, they streamlined it and I think made it more appealing to a wider audience. I also think they took away some of uniqueness and aggressiveness. As of right now I like the look of my 22 more. The main thing I'm jealous of is it looks like they added a radar on the front which means it has adaptive cruise control which was one of my main gripes I had about the current model.
From looking at the front end, it looks like they may have added Adaptive Cruise Control, which unfortunately is severely lacking in the 2022-2023 year.
Looks way better than the 22-23. I just can’t get past the look of the current model and seems like majority of the journalists all hate the look of the car as well. Seems like all the hate is coming from 22-23 owners. 2024 looks way more sleek and clean. I dig it but to each their own.
Excellent Review! I originally like the front end at first glance but after you pointed out the flow I agree with you. I hate the wheels also. I will be keeping my 2022. Keep up the great work!
I fully agree with everything you said. I will be keeping my 2022. The only thing that the new one has that I want is adaptive cruise but all the negatives far outweigh that benefit.
The problem is that they tried to make it less boy racer but the problem is that's the spirit of the the car. It's a track car not luxury and people wanted a car that's more grown up but when you do that you just make it look like any other basic sedan boring and not aggressive. I am glad I got a 23 because it's way more aggressive looking than this.
I like this new one better then the older one! I like the wheels too and the front end looks way better then the old one! It’s all around way better!!! I thought it was a light now that I see that it dnt look good, they need to make it a full light bar!
I liked the first Elantra N’s helmet inspired front end. I like the new one but I think the first one had more character. The bottom part of the new fascia reminds me of the Urus. Not a huge fan of the wheels, though.
Agreed with most points you made. But i have been reading comments on posts made by big channels (throttle house, st pipes) and general perception is masses like it a lot. So it should help with sales for sure. I personally like it too with the biggest zonk being that big black diaper like WRXs (well not that bad). Will be interested to see other changes because this appearance upgrade alone won't make me trade in from my current 22 perf blue. Btw happy to see you make a video after a relatively long time.
Anybody who says these look better than the 23s need eyes checked. They ruined this thing it doesn’t look more sleek it looks uglier and stretched out from the previous design that actually looked nice
I think the front looks way better. The old style looks really cheap plastic with incandescent turn signals. Plus the front bumper looks missing or unpainted. The new wheels are Alfa Romeo style and look like gun cylinders.
I love it when the owner of the current model of a car hates on the newer model because of jealousy. If someone asked you to swap your one for the 2024 and it wouldn't cost you a thing, you'd do it in a heart beat.
Haha that's what I've been telling all these current Gen owners. They're all hating bc they know the new one is better but they just will never admit to it. Too much pride I guess
Unless the hood opens the opposite way from yours, yeah, the front end doesn't make sense to me, either. I do appreciate the design issues you get to pick apart these days. I have the first generation Elantra. It's a suppository with a graham cracker interior. Isn't yours like the 14th gen?
In my opinion the front end of the earlier model is quite divisive for many people. It's one reason I am not trading my Veloster N for the EN. Personally I like the front end on the new one better. I agree with you about the light bar.
The design is just like what happened with the first Elantra N. Everyone either hated it or loved it, and so far, I'm seeing the same thing here. Personally, I prefer the design of my first gen EN, but I don't hate the new one. It's got a more refined and modern look, but the old one does certainly look more of an aggressive style, and helps make it stand out. That front fake LED bar is a huge mistake, however. And while I like the wheels, I can understand that with the rest of the EN styling, they don't match very well. Overall, as long as it's just design changes, and not the actual performance of the vehicle, it doesn't really matter as styling is completely subjective.
I haven't heard that, everyone is saying this newer one looks better. Maybe only those who liked the 22-23 design are the ones who don't like the new look. Me personally I can go either or.
I watched an interview with the past Elantra designer, and he stated that the facelifts are meant to be midway transition points to full redesigns. So not surprised they partially merged the full light bar with the triangular headlights.
Im sorry but the refresh is 3x more better than the pre-facelift. The pre facelift i cant even stare at the front end on how ugly it is. This is like the new civic type r, everybody hated it until they see it in person.
Sorry bro, glad you like the look of yours but this new design on the font end looks far better, and I already liked the current one. I do like your wheels better, but the new ones are cool
Thanks for the video. Any advice for the tires on your N. I have a 2 month old 23 and already lost my first tire to a pot hole. Like best pressure to run yours at or just switch to 18s like I see a lot do? Not looking forward to pot holes costing$400 a pop.
The front end looks less agressive... the wheels 🤢🤮, its definantly a downgrade, hopefully they add some cool upgrades to the inside, that are interchangable with our cars
I think I agree with basically everything you said. Unlike most people I do like the current front and the fake silver line on the face-lift, it just takes away a lot of the personality and the headlights, too. I got a wind up that there would be the refresh just prior to my acquiring a 2023 EN and my only concern was if by any means they went with the 2.5T engine I would regret it but so far I love my EN so much and a lot of my TH-cam videos about it were from you so thanks for being so passionate about it. Keep up the good work pal
The front end is awesome...ALL OF IT! I get what your saying about the aggressiveness of the DRL's but the new look in the front addresses THE BLACKNESS of the front, adds more body color too! That said, the rear diffusor...🙄🙄🙄 ours is MUCH better! The wheels make good winter wheels and look like the last gen Taurus SHO rims. I don't think the interior will be changed because it needs nothing but being able to spec Alcantara e-brake handle, shift boot and knob and armrest should be possible, along with heated steering wheel, rear seats and rear HVAC 💡💡💡
hello from Kazakhstan! I have a questions. Right now my avante N 2022 is shipping from Korea. But I want to change face to rest if its possible. So is it possible to change and do facelift? How hard to change? And want to add some ambient lights on door cards and foot zone, which is better and will work with stock ambient in panel, thanks!
I agree with all what you said. my brother is picking up the current i30N tomorrow, if only the current model had 360 camera and adaptive cruise control
Excellent review!! You have helped me see the changes more clearly by the way you broke them down. Reminds me of the first Taurus SHO in 1989 being great and then the watering down of the design on the 1991 redesign. Ford just stole the individuality of the SHO to sell more cars, compete with the Chevy Lumina of the day.
Besides the panels not lining up, I gotta admit the front as a whole is improved (still not used to the massive fake vents on the front of my 22 EN). The rear however is so offensive and is a total deal breaker for me.
I agree with you on all except the black badging. Maybe I'm old school but the silver Hyundai batching on my black N w/ silver aftermarket wheels looks sweet. They put HORRIBLE wheels on those, too much shapes as you said. Also the front end is not aggressive at all., almost looks like an EV. Overall very disappointed, but don't care because I love my '22. The new N looks like it has been lobotomized., not as much personality and character in the looks department.
I was the opposite, i didnt think it looked good at first but its growing on me. I want to widebody the 2024 so badly, the ONLY thing im bummed about is apparently that gimmicky display to the left of the wheel is still not a functioning system, why develop the car with it until youre ready to use it in future productions
But you have to realize the pictures you see are from the Korean models. IDK where you live obviously but every other market never gets the same options as Koreans.
If I were to get it I’d get it in black. Because then the rear would blend, and the front bar if it is or if isn’t a light bar you could get it wrapped or tinted to match the black.
Where is the ad for the 24? Looks like they would of used a song that is probably a banger. But as cool as the as is, it looks like it is having an identity crisis between a race car and a road car
Love the new front end. Hate the new flower wheels ... though I'm digging the black wheels shown @ 4:14!. Meh on the rear end. If there's no performance improvement, I'm happier with my 2023 HEN. :P
The rims are almost alfa Romeo stelvio but can be easily swapped if not liked. I dig the refresh,if it had awd I'd buy one. Sadly sold my kona N a little after a year of owning it I needed something with awd.
They're cutting costs on the body. Every change they made is to simplify production. They did get rid of the biggest complaint of the front end, the huge amount of black plastic, but it does look a lot more generic now. Every other change is to simplify the lines, the shape, the cost. HOPEFULLY, that's to enable either more performance under the hood or maybe (maybe) AWD to put it into a better class.
Terrible? what da hell are you looking at? Front end is the only thing that was wrong with the current N. This looks 1000000 times better. I mean get your eyes fixed.
I like it, I think they did the front end like that to appeal to more people. Many people dislike the current front end. I love the current Elantra N and almost got one, still might get one as a second car. Great video, BTW.
Not bad but I’m glad I got the 23 Elantra N manual in Cyber Grey! I might be in the minority but I love my front end with license plate relocation. And I love my wheels! Peace
Defaultstiviper also noted the exhaust burble seems to be tamped down. My '22 looks mean, sounds mean, and because I got the Phantom Black, additional body color/color deletion in some places doesn't affect me. Black, low profile badges are nice...but swapping my originals for ones painted red this week. And not a fan of the rims. If anything, might get the OEM rims powder coated on the silver parts to red. Almost going '66 Batmobile...except for the jet engine. For now....
I really agree with you with the front, I think it doesn't flow with the entire design of the car. I like the new front end of the sonata as it looks really clean but on the elantra it just doesn't match :/ I'm excited to pick up the current generation model second hand at a better price after this comes out
people have been buying the eyelids to hide the ugly side makers like crazy and now even available are the color matched front bumper piece, the new one comes with those now, just perfection
I fully agree. it looks awesome. But the silver trim was lil lazy. But I kinda like the cyber punk look and I like the wheels better. But the rear end would look better with a different color
Man, I LOVE the front end. It looks super clean. That middle piece between the lights doesn't bug me even 1%. I think the rear fits with the whole thing nicely. I'm not crazy about the wheels either but, damn. It looks GOOD. And RED? OH 💦 😅 I can't remember where, but someone said that Hyundai already announced it was going to be a 2.5L. At least somewhere in the future. I'm already expecting to trade up. Maybe I'm dreaming 🤷♂️ My wife really could use the upgrade this time around, but mine really wouldn't cost all that much. I have a '23 with 1,757k at the moment. Anyway, you seem pretty disappointed. I think this has to be my first disagreement with you, my friend! That thing better have a manual, though! Or no trades for me 🙎♂️ Red, though... 🤤
I agree with your comments. I was expecting not to agree with too many. I think they are trying to tie-together the styling across their model lines. You alluded to that as well. Overall it looks fine and it appears to be an evolution in design. I also prefer more body color rather than less body color. With EVs being forced upon us we might have these cars for a while.
Anakin: I think we should move the ugly black plastic from the front. Padme: You mean remove. Anakin: **Devious smile** Padme: You mean remove it right?
The European model Hyundai Kona N has those similar rims. I liked them ON the Kona N. It's a shame the U.S. didn't get those for the Hyundai Kona N because it looks soo good unless you were to special ordered them from overseas I assume.
Sounds like you’re just defending your own car man when in reality they are changing the front end so quickly because it’s been severely and heavily criticized by the community. The new one def looks much cleaner and sharper and as long as they added LED turn signals too I’ll look to get one later this year. Those old school blinkers really make new vehicles look dated immediately. Can’t stand those.
I do like the new "sleek" style of the 2024 headlights. I didn't notice the other front piece that u were talking about till u brought it to our attention. I see it now & it's different that I'll say but not a plus or minus in my opinion over all. The wheels.... they gotta go. The previous wheels on this refresh would be great. Wheels are such an important thing. It can really enhance & improve the over all looks & style or unfortunately in this case I'd say hurt. But these are the first looks. So there's time for things to change and maybe if the over all feelings is the wheels are a downside from the orginal then maybe they'll change them before the release. Real good video, thanks for sharing. :-)
My initial take was positive, but I found myself agreeing with a lot of your critiques about the appearance. Definitely going to be more than a little disappointed if your observation about the light/chrome bar. Really interested to see your take on the future interior reveal!
I like the New Look myself but I am much older than you. Also, there seems to be so much dislike/hate for the way it looks now, this should resolve that for sure, but you can't satisfy everyone right? I understand why you like your model design, but there isn't enough of people I believe, that agree with you. First, I appreciate any car company that is keeping a manual transmission option for us consumers. BUT... it seems way too many manufacturers, journalists, dealerships, people in general that think Well no one buys the manual any more. I think that is bull crap. You can't find them easily and yes, people will cave and just buy the automatics or CVT or whatever. If manufacturers are still making a manual, put them out on the dealer lots even if you give them a free floor plan for the manuals so they are available to be purchased. That way dealers would have no reason to not want them, if they don't have to pay for them to be on their lot until they sell. Or ... Let us consumers order them direct, ship them to a dealer and just give the dealer a handling prep fee. What a fantastic idea that would be right? And give us more paint color options while you are at it. Maybe two tone paint schemes. Or vinyl wrap choices straight from the factory. Just make a manual transmission available for me to purchase!!!
Tbh...the only merit to this "refresh" version of this EN would be a possible auto-cruise and surround view feature added. Besides that aside, I actually don't mind the front too much...but that rear...no idea why they would go the (tragic) way of the newer wrx rear end treatment.
Good points. Those new wheels are just ugly, (although it would be easier to keep the calipers clean) and the front has lost the aggressive look. I guess they felt as though they had to change something about the car. I'll be interested in any performance enhancements and most important, changes to the price tag. ($40k+) Keep up the good work.
Original front end is literally the only thing people complain about, this is so much better
I agree, the update looks so much better. This is what will make me choose it over an honda Civic si.
The wheels look good also. They should of pumped up the HP a little bit.
@Michael garner quite a price bump over the Si, congrats to you for "stepping up". Will you get a 6 spd🤔
@Cindy Sue we don't know if they didn't yet but probably not😋
@klasseact6663 what? The two are at the same price. In the 32k range. And yes, of course I will get a 6 speed. Auto is just not fun enough
I do like the new front end, I think it looks cleaner.

The front end don’t looks as aggressive as the old one but the new rear bumper is so ugly way to much black and it’s plastic they should of kept the old bumper
That's what it looks like on the road if u guys were curious

We're in the same boat. Most people didn't like the look of the sedan when first announced, and we all grew to admire it. This will be the same.
nope
@@damienfrizzell9394 Did you like the look of the sedan when it was announced a few years ago?
At 3:56 it does appear to have black N wheels, so it looks like there will be actual options for 2024
But you have to realize the pictures you see are from the Korean models.
Why not just fit the konaN wheels to new model? Similar to 2024 wheels but more angular which suits the body lines??
Love the new front end. Hate the new flower wheels ... though I'm digging the black wheels shown @ 4:14!. Meh on the rear end. If there's no performance improvement, I'm happier with my 2023 HEN. :P
I don’t mind it. I like the updated radar cruise control that’s coming
I LOVE THE WHEELS! Like a Lambo!
The rims are almost alfa Romeo stelvio but can be easily swapped if not liked. I dig the refresh,if it had awd I'd buy one. Sadly sold my kona N a little after a year of owning it I needed something with awd.
Will the 2024 Elantra N be fast? And does it have the red button?
Wheels..😂 you can change the wheels…looks way better than current model..
Looks are totally subjective. One man's ugly is another man's beautiful.
Terrible? what da hell are you looking at? Front end is the only thing that was wrong with the current N. This looks 1000000 times better. I mean get your eyes fixed.
I like it, I think they did the front end like that to appeal to more people. Many people dislike the current front end. I love the current Elantra N and almost got one, still might get one as a second car. Great video, BTW.
Not bad but I’m glad I got the 23 Elantra N manual in Cyber Grey! I might be in the minority but I love my front end with license plate relocation. And I love my wheels! Peace
The wheels to me are Alfa Romeo wheels. But I do like the look.
For now....
The hood line matches much better with the pre facelift version.
I really agree with you with the front, I think it doesn't flow with the entire design of the car. I like the new front end of the sonata as it looks really clean but on the elantra it just doesn't match :/
I'm excited to pick up the current generation model second hand at a better price after this comes out
people have been buying the eyelids to hide the ugly side makers like crazy and now even available are the color matched front bumper piece, the new one comes with those now, just perfection
Badge is the best bit honestly.
The rest is meh
The wheels are straight copies of Skoda Octavia RS
The OEM black H *le sigh* beautiful
I fully agree. it looks awesome. But the silver trim was lil lazy. But I kinda like the cyber punk look and I like the wheels better. But the rear end would look better with a different color
The bar will be one of the first aftermarket mod changes, whoever comes up with a light bar mod will make some cash.
Looks like it has the radar cruise control module on the front bar
Man, I LOVE the front end. It looks super clean. That middle piece between the lights doesn't bug me even 1%.
I think the rear fits with the whole thing nicely.
I'm not crazy about the wheels either but, damn. It looks GOOD.
And RED? OH 💦 😅
I can't remember where, but someone said that Hyundai already announced it was going to be a 2.5L. At least somewhere in the future.
I'm already expecting to trade up. Maybe I'm dreaming 🤷♂️
My wife really could use the upgrade this time around, but mine really wouldn't cost all that much. I have a '23 with 1,757k at the moment.
Anyway, you seem pretty disappointed. I think this has to be my first disagreement with you, my friend!
That thing better have a manual, though! Or no trades for me 🙎♂️
Red, though... 🤤
2024 EN will not be the 2.5T. They're considering putting the 2.5 in the next gen N sedan, whether that's the Elantra or something else.
I like the front end but I can see why you don't like it. I feel like I need to see one in person first, but that 2.5 will be nice
Anakin: **Devious smile**
Padme: You mean remove it right?
The European model Hyundai Kona N has those similar rims. I liked them ON the Kona N. It's a shame the U.S. didn't get those for the Hyundai Kona N because it looks soo good unless you were to special ordered them from overseas I assume.
Changes to the interior are the new Hyundai emblem and UI updates
Really interested to see your take on the future interior reveal!
very happy I bought my 22 lol. I dont like this new front end at all
and those wheels would have been an instant swap for me. I actually like my stock ones from the 22
We still going to meet up to compare 6sm to DCT?
Just make a manual transmission available for me to purchase!!!
i really dont like that refresh from bumper. they should now put a bigger turbo to mach the integra now .
Tbh...the only merit to this "refresh" version of this EN would be a possible auto-cruise and surround view feature added.
Besides that aside, I actually don't mind the front too much...but that rear...no idea why they would go the (tragic) way of the newer wrx rear end treatment.
Wheels look like flowers. So less black in the front and more in the back
Looks like a EV. Big zonk! More plastic on the back end? Why? 🤦♂️ and flower looking wheels🫤 love the front bumper until you get to the head lights
No way the price goes near $40K😉
Just fit konaN wheels instead. Similar to 2024 wheels but more angular to suit body lines??
@J V I have KN rims on my EN and they look awesome💯
The front looks worlds better but still not as aggressive as the hot hatch Veloster N, which is still the best looking N car by far.
