Fly is S++. It frees up your equipment and spell slots; works with Longstrider; cost no action so it can be used multiple time per turn; works for any class. Misty Step becomes obsolete.
Misty Step not COMPLETELY obsolete because it avoids opportunity attacks when escaping from melee range. But yes, largely obsolete.
A cool thing you can do with survival instinct:
If you die and are revived on your turn, you regain all your actions (at least that is how it works with death ward). So you can cast it on yourself as a bonus action, then cast an AoE spell that kills you, get revived, and get all your actions back.
Especially with additional actions from bloodlust, terazul, potion of speed and so on, this could be really powerful
Freecast can get you a free myrmidon while leaving your 6th level slot free for combat-Marko does that too, of course, but there’s nothing at all wrong with having two or more myrmidons around
Cool thing about Marko, it can be used on each character once per long rest, as opposed to only once overall per long rest
Using the staff, freecast, spell amulet, and wizards slot restoration makes so many high level castings per day
This is the plan for my 11 cleric 1 wizard build. Having access to heroes feast, globe of invulnerability, myrmidons etc covers so much utility and support for the party
@harchierplebbington9397 I usually use camp caster for heroes feast. But yeah it's nice to have a myrmidon up and still have level 6 slot available. Same with cleric with a deva summon.
When Z’rell used black hole against me in Moonrise I was so confused and intrigued, “wow that ability is broken dang!” And then I learned it’s a possible illithid power, and I took it as soon as I could.
People sleep on it because so many people are focused on damage numbers. But as a Druid, I understood the value of area control, and it’s just insane how strong the spell is. It’s insanely flexible EVEN as an action, and as a bonus action it’s just easy mode in any fight where you can move the enemies at all.
That's what happened to me. I got wrecked by it assaulting moonrise so when I saw it as an option at the end of act 2 I grabbed it immediately. I'm currently on a warlock playthrough and I can't wait to cast black hole to pull everyone into hunger of hadar that's gonna be broken lol.
lmao people don't sleep on blackhole. It's obviously a valuable spell but on typical normal run, which majority of players are, don't need it and prefer not to sacrifice cosmetic appearance.
One of the few tier videos that properly understands how busted Black Hole is, kudos. It's competitive with pre-nerf Perilous Stakes and only loses because you have to wait until Act 3.
I've never thought about beastform as a shield before... Thank you for the video
If you’re rolling around with the resonance stone, mind blast is really incredible, giving disadvantage on the save and vulnerability to the damage.
I accidentally killed the elder brain with orpheus using the absorb intellect bug on honor mode lol. I was just trying to get some healing while my party got through the portal, and it had a super low sucess chance of like 10. I cast it since I has too low to take a brainquake, and next turn out of nowhere the 400 hp elder brain just died. Super funny.
Freecast is bugged in a good way, and though the last patch claimed to fix it it's still broken in the same way. It costs nothing to remove camp clothes and underwear, but freecast refreshes when equipment on your paperdoll is changed. Barbarrien take's his clothes of to freecast rage. Cast all the buffs for free; Aid, Protection From Poison, Death Ward, etc. Wildshape, sorcery points, spells, rage all work with freecast
As always, S tier content! Now that you’ve done the tier list, I’d love to see a build using Illithid powers!
I have a personal vendetta against mind sanctuary because it basically stunned my entire party including summons army during the gith fight at the Emperor's hideout. Somehow I won but oh boy did I ban that ability from consequent playthroughs
I basically always use Luck of the Far Realms, often use Fly and Black Hole and always forget to use Mind Sanctuary and Freecast :-)) All others I just never seem to use, idk
The passives are excellent. Don't sleep on ability drain, especially on an archer.
@@baziloneil1271 Passives go without saying :-) They're there anyway, don't have to actively use them, only unlock
Day 4 of pitching my favorite BG3 creator a new series idea: building a viable honor mode party where all characters have the same Base Class
You can do a lot with not only restricting yourself by you trying to use every subclass at least once (except for wizards and clerics lol), but also maybe even having an interesting thematic element for example your four bars could be fitting into the Beatles archetype, and you have to challenge yourself by using a Valor bard when either of the subclasses would probably do better
This would also give you an awesome opportunity to talk about what strengths and weaknesses each class brings and how for example some subclasses might be great do better / worse whenever surrounded by other similar team members, finally at the end maybe at the end of each video or after you finish a series you could do a tier list ranking which of them would be the most viable in which of them would be the least viable
Thanks for taking the time put of your day to read this, you're a wonderful resource to a lot of people, and I hope you consider this idea as it's one id be super interested in seeing you tackle
Or just do 4 tempest clarics and win at everything forever
@@talleywa5772 well like I said, try to use every class at least once, that's basically my way of saying try to not repeat classes, I just didn't say that because of the cases where there are only three available classes
4 Bards could be really pwoerfull: one swords bard with an archer build, one sword bard with a melle tank build, one lore bard taking dmg and aoe spells and one lore bard taking healing and utility spells. Considering your archer bard can use the ring of the mystic scoundrel + helmet of arcane arcuity+ slashing flourishes you have so much crowd controll no enemie should be able to move at all
4 bards worked with ease, but it's interesting that in tabletop it's much harder than in bg3 for this concept to work because of the incredible weakness of your whole squad only having proficiency in 2 saving throws. Outside of that deficiency, many classes could work. But again, not really a major concern in the video game.
Love your content man. Keep up the great work.
Going for the platinum on console, all your vids have been so helpful planning my final playthroughs.
Regarding Mind Sanctuary in Honour Mode, you can throw a Potion of Speed at an enemy and then use Mind Sanctuary to get a guaranteed stun that can’t be avoided or saved against.
Displacer kitty gets extra point for being cute :3
Very true!
Really excellent video as usual! I just discovered your channel and have been binging your bg3 tier list vids and have really been enjoying them!!
Your new mic def needs some tuning, it sounds like its picking up some background noise, possibly a fan or rain/traffic from outside? Otherwise keep up the great work!
Great stuff
Agree about bumping up concentrated blast, there are plenty of times I want to stop concentrating on fog cloud or spike growth and a little extra damage on top of what I was going to do anyway can feel nice
Re: Freecast, IIRC, it's bugged where you can swap your underwear on/off and reset it, essentially giving you unlimited 6th level spell slots/Oath Charges/etc.
I don't know how true that is, or if it has been patched out. Still a strong power, even in base/intended form.
Unintended bugs shouldn’t be relevant in how strong something is in a tier list IMO.
I rarely use illithid powers, crazy to learn the broken and buggy aspect of them.
These tier lists are such a great resource for us efficiency-minded types, thank you! Mic-wise, there seems to be some white noise coming through behind your voice - at first I thought it was traffic outside but then I realised it was only audible at the same time you were speaking so must be settings-related.
Also, is there any mileage in doing a scrolls tier list?
🔥🔥🔥 Excellent voice work as always, your new mic setup isn't being nice to you haha. Lots of room boom, echo-ish for sure. I remember putting up 3 million bafflers trying to get rid of that in my studio before realizing I really just needed corner baffling for the same effect. before realizing I just needed a different mic for my style lol. Edit: any chance you're comfy sharing what you were using before / what you're using now?
Guardian of Faith+Survival Instinct is bonkers. So much value comes out of a level 4 spell slot with that combination.
hows it work? just survival instinct on the guardian?
@@celerysarcade yep exactly how it works. Usually I just give Shadowheart the gaming chair (Zaithisk) buff since I don’t use illithid powers. Then I have her cast Guardian of Faith in like a choke and survival instinct bonus action it. The Guardian should last the entire fight and is pretty much unkillable.
Why have I never thought to try that? That sounds incredible.
I am a heavy user of Mind Sanctuary in Honor Mode, which I agree is full of bugs just the rest of the game is, flying over it will give you the extra action then removing both the extra and your base action but pathfinder does take the route anyway, things like taht. Anayway IA uses it pretty well, is useful in first round of brain fight if you want to buff your allies, also in any fight where you are start for a high ground position with advantage over enemies. For me it is a S Tier ability, many casters, supports, throwers, archers, benefits from it, also it does not require concentration. Not sure why you throw it on D.
It would be fun to add here abilities your MC get in full illithid form in the end of the game. Eating brains IS fun!
On mic feedback... Whatever happened between freecast and absorb intellect improved the sound in my opinion. It was more pronounced on headphones then when I moved to test on speakers, but an improvement in both cases
Mind sanctuary actually saved my first honor mode run on my final fight vs the brain. I didn't know that going from phase 1 (confronting the brain at the pit) to phase 2 (emperor vs Orpheus decision, gather allies and then beat down the brain) you lose buffs like elixirs and I found near the crown is a good place to place the mind sanctuary.
The safest way appears to be going inside the sanctuary for the hasted action, use both actions and then leave it. I dunno if it did not bug out on me because of it though.
Would you ever consider doing Divinity Original Sin 2 builds or tier lists? It's also from Larian and doesn't have a good guide yet. I love your approach to builds and tactics in games and would be interested in your thoughts on the game.
You sound off, but that's to be expected with the new mic. There's a slight echo, dunno if it's settings or just a room
That is called a reverb and so minimal, I wouldn't even have mentioned it.
@@Kelthoras1 they should. He specifically asked for feedback, and while it doesn't make the video unwatchable, it's definitely noticeable
Thanks! It's probably both, but I'll work on reducing it
Sound quality during absorb intellect was probably the best, but the echo is still present.
New mic setup isnt as bad as people are saying with some of the comments but gain may be a bit high as i can hear sounds of your toung and spit popping in parts of the vid.
Good content as usual and have a good one
Cull the weak sounds so cool. The only problem is that it's incompatible with the Unduying Hunger passive of the modded Dark Hunger Warlock pact (it's a flavourful version of GOO with some cool active abilities and spells).
I was sceptical about the Illithid powers at first, but the allure of power was too strong to ignore.
I got Expertise in Intimidation already, because Durge, but the other two sound very good, as well.
I am curious if multiple Absorb Intellect stack, meaning if more than 1 party member casts it could 2 people bring down a 10 intellect, could 3 take down a 15 int, etc.
In my tier list of tier lists, yours are rated S
i have never had the option for psionic dominance pop up with a spell beyond its ability to counter, on spells that popped up counterspell as an option
Next tier list of the illithid powers available when a character becomes fully illithid at the end?
still got my fingers crossed for a wild shape tier list with the avatar of slaughter mixed in cause i'm not sure where else it would fit. always found the wild shapes really cool even if they are not particularly powerful. i'm guessing some of that power is loaded into that extra hp you get which doesn't jive well with the games alpha strike nature. along with not benefiting from your gear which is huge in bg3.
freecast is currently bugged, removing a piece of gear from your character equipped gear refreshes freecast. meaning you can freely use any out of combat spell multiple times per day. this includes buffs summons and even healing. S tier for sure because of this bug.
You could use freecast infinity by removing and equipment garments (like underwear), even in combat. Unsure if this is patched.
Is Minthara's soul branding ability worth building around, ie taking 3 levels in thief just to spam it?
Used to not get spent when you'd throw weapons so it was extremely good to buff a thrown weapon user. Not sure if it still does that currently.
guess its time for a boots tier list next
does the check vs higher level spells when using counterspell / psionic dominance proc portent and the like to let you see the dc and what you rolled?
Does the honor mode Mind Sanctuary still cancel regular Haste, causing immediate lethargy?
One thing to mention here that I don't think I heard you say is that the save of black hole only protects you against the slow. There's no protection against the pull itself and considering that it can kill is frankly ridiculous.
Freecast I’d put in S+ currently. If you remove an item of clothing it refreshes it and removing clothes costs nothing so 3 lv 6 spells per combat for free. Just put your clothes back on after and repeat. Hopefully this goes unnoticed…
Black Hole benefits from Displace, because it damages enemies at the same time. It's not much, but given of all effects that it has, it's just awesome.
If I am not mistaken, if you become Ilithid, Black Whole upgrades, and it has possibly a different name and bigger AoE. Or maybe the damage is written into this form? Or maybe I remember it wrong and was surprised by how I remembered it from my first playthrough and what I loaded recently?
Mind Sanctually was awesome, with fights where we could hide into Invulnerability Globe and get the Mind Sanctuary at the same time. It felt like every caster or ranged character got haste. Love it, but is situational. Usually having all characters in one place is not advantageous. Never played Honor mode, so outside of that, Mind Sanctuary is great but rarely used. Tier B for me, clearly.
Ability Drain (from lower tier) is useless for CHAR spellcasters, because there are very few saves for charisma. For Wizards that has more sense to use it and then Black Hole, Mind Blast, etc. Ability Drain is B tier for me (too dependent on situation, not universal in use).
mic sounds worse than before btw.
Agreed. I hope he sees this and accepts it as genuine advice and make a change.
While the old mic sounded a bit flat, the new now sounds both more muffled/less clear and have a quite annoying reverb as well. Content is still great though.
@@RansomMemoryAccess Thanks for letting me know!
Yes, the old mic was pretty good. Now there's much more room sound or echo. Maybe too much bass. The mic needs to be closer to the mouth, and sound dampening material (soft furniture for example) around the room or closer to the mic would help cut the reflections.
+
on a quick comparison from this videos audio to the last's: you are quite a bit quieter and it sounds like a bit more echo (not so sure how to fix it but the mic quality sounds like itll be clearer once it's been fine tuned)
Thanks for letting me know!
Great content brother I hope these mic comments don’t get ya down 😂
Thanks! And not at all, that's why I asked for feedback - I'm not an audio guy at all so I'm figuring this out as I go
At “Black Hole” quality improved considerably.
Interesting! I was playing with the equalizer a bit throughout the recording, so that may have been when I made a change. Hopefully steps in the right direction
@@Cephalopocalypse yeah, listen to that break point and you’ll hear a difference. You can still hear some background noise but the echo decreased.
I know mind sanctuary was put on D tier, but what about mind goblin?
Have you ever done a (potentially lore friendly) dark urge build guide?
Technically this doesn’t really make sense/apply because you can utilize any build with Durge. He starts as a Dragonborn sorcerer which sorcerer probably has the most build guides in the game
@@kingofgrim4761 True, but that freedom of choice just makes it more interesting to me. I looking for a build that is based on durge interactions. I heard that in act 3 someone says that durge uses daggers, so based on that you could do a rogue build etc.
@@dervish9304 youre right. I think the problem is, you can’t just slap a “Durge” on top of some random build and treat it as lore accurate or a specific build for Durge. He only gets 1 specific item from the background, and a specific form. The dagger I presume comes from one of the endings for Durge. (Which is an act 3 boss’s dagger)
@@kingofgrim4761 I mean others made durge builds already, but I’m missing one from the best builds creator I know. That’s why I’m here. :)
I agree with the adjustments of the lower tier. The one thing I would also add that Psionic Overload is completely useless for a spellcasting class, so it could be even tier D. I tried it and it simply doesn't work at all. It doesn't add any damage to spells and also there is no health damage because of that. So truly, no effect, zero, zilch. I hoped that it will work for magic missiles, but no. Spells gain no effect from it.
I am always suprised, why people are claiming that ilithid powers are (or could be) powerful, because I usually play with spellcasters and for them, aside the usual luck, beginnings that work well for all, cull of the weak, charm and maybe shield of the thrals are the usable types, when we talk about low tier.
From higher tier, fly, black hole, mind sanctuary and freecast are the nice ones, if they work. Black whole has too little area of effect, so it's hard to find usage for it. If enemies are within the area of the effect, you can use some big AoE already, no need to suck them in. The version of the ilithid form is much better and useful. Freecast, didn't work for me in my first playthrough. Hopefully, this is patched now. It only worked once and was not regenerating on long rest. Beast shape is cool, but in overall, the character is more powerful in the current form, so this is only occasional.
Psionic dominance is awesome, it's basically free counter-spell. It doesn't always trigger in the same way as counter-spell, or maybe this is the failed roll, hence the differences. The only con is that is competes for the reaction with Psionic-Backlash. You can't have both reactions in one turn, so we have to choose, what is better. It's awesome, when the other character reacts as counter spell or Psionic Dominance, while you can add the damage with Backlash.
Survival instinct - useful ability with tough fights, if it's secondary action.
Spells with attack rolls gain the damage from psionic overload - magic missile has no attack roll, so it won't, but spells like eldritch blast and scorching ray will
@@Cephalopocalypse Thanks, didn't know that. I tried that with Magic Missile and Ice Storm and had no effect.
If it works with attack roll, the only spell that may be useful is the Scorching Ray, the other spells are just one attack roll, so there is no gain.
In overall, if it is valid for one spell, it's useless for the spellcaster, so I would say, it's S tier for melee class, and still D tier for spellcasters, because it's marginal in use. Even Charm is way more usefull, as it triggers 50:50 and probably safes the caster of the attacks.
@@michadybczak4862 eldritch blast makes 3 attack rolls at end game
I have problem with Fly. It worked the way you described a year ago, Now, when I loaded an old save from before the final area, it changed:
There was a Fly as a spell action/bonus action that lasts for few rounds, but from Ilithid power (so it doesn't cost the spell slot of any type).
There was an additional ability, doesn't remember how it was named, Levitation? Basically, it was like fly, but shorter in range, doesn't require casting before, it was like the old Fly, but it was triggering counter-attacks. So it looked like the old Fly was nerfed.
EDIT: It turned out that the Fly spell is from Helldusk armor, while Levitation is the Fly replacement in Ilithid form.
Last time I played, which was with current patch, illithid fly worked as described in the video, and nothing in the wiki or patch notes says it was changed.
Does your character have the helldusk armor equipped? That grants a bonus action fly ability
@@exantiuse497 Ah, possibly yes. Helldusk armor is very likely. However, that doesn't explain, that aside Fly, I also had "Levitation", which was the Ilithid fly ability. Let me check the save and report back.
@@exantiuse497 I checked and you are right, Fly spell is from Helldusk armor. Levitation is just movement in ilithid form (so it replaces ilithind fly). It has the same range of 18m. I have impression, that Levitation triggered opportunity attacks, which was very surprising, but maybe I did something else and just walked, even if it's theoretically not available in ilithid form (although ironically Emperor can walk and fly). Anyway, that explains the Levitation thing and maybe opportunity attacks were something I remembered incorrectly. Will see later.
benefit to eating the astral tadpole: the bit (maybe don’t commit to the bit on honor mode though)
Very true
I’m a bit confused - wouldn’t freecast be more valuable for parties which take more long rests rather than less long rests? The more a party long rests, the more times freecast would be refreshed, but you seem to have said it the other way around and I was wondering what the rationale was for that.
I think the idea is that a party that frequently long rests doesn't mind not using up every spell slot, "wasting" some resources. A high level spell slot is a much more valuable resource if you don't long rest that often.
@@eirhunderstood.
I've been doing a ton of testing on Displacer Beast shape lately, and it only superficially functions like wild shape. For example, the only way to buff the damage of the tentacle attacks is increasing its strength. Even Tavern Brawler doesn't boost damage (though it does boost the attack roll). It doesn't benefit from anything that specifies Wild Shape (it doesn't turn off Symbiotic Entity of Spore Druids, but you don't get bonus damage) and the Mutilated Carapace, though specifying it has the same conditions as the Shapeshifter's Boon Ring, doesn't work (though the ring does).
Frenzied Berserker rage doesn't boost damage, nor do Monk levels. Barbarian 9 Brutal Critical does add 1d6 bludgeoning and 1d6 piercing damage on crit.
Astarion's Happy buff works, but his Vampire Ascendant ability does not, nor do Karlach's soul coin buffs.
Follow-up, debuffs on enemies like Phalar Aluve shriek do work to boost damage (Phalar Aluve counting twice), as does the Psionic Overload ability if activated before Displacer Beast Shape (again, it applies twice per tentacle attack). Buffs on the character (such as Spear of Night's Moonmotes) do not work.
The new mic definitely needs some tuning. While you sounded a bit flat before, now you sound muffled and just... not that great.
That said, I think Psionic Dominance should be S tier. While you should already have access to Counterspell at this point, this just gives you a free cast of it. Meaning you can cast more of them or you can use that spell slot for something else. Plus, usually only one or two characters have access to it. Enabling your entire party to be able to just say no to any spell below 5th level is insane.
Thanks for letting me know!
Yeah, being able to automatically counter lower level spells using reactions of non-casters or casters who don't get counterspell is amazing.
You can abuse mind sanctuary with globe. Just make sure to never leave the sanctuary. If you stay in it there wont be any bug so that you can use your main concentration spell on something else other than haste. Its still S tier, just need more effort. Also buy all globe you can. Makes your honor mode a guarantee wik
You can - provided it doesn't just eat all your actions without you ever leaving it, which I've had happen numerous times sadly
@@Cephalopocalypse you did ? I tried it numerous times and it always works for me. Dunno why. The code is pretty buggy i suppose
Fly is the best ability in the entire game. The fact that you get it for free is absolutely bonkers, if it wasn't free I would rush it first every single time.
Mind sanctuary is bugged and beyond broken in HM. If you walk in and out of it, it repeatedly gives you FULL actions. (Full paladin minthara hit 6 straight times) it seems it turns haste on and off, which limited my number of reuses due to the MS loss
This also gave my casters multiple actions, was able to utilize 2-3 spells per turn depending on movement
You can dash to get more movement speed, it only costs an action
@@exantiuse497 I didn’t end up doing so, but it did seem like your movement was considerably lowered, I presume because haste doubles it, and each time you lose the haste it likely halves it, before redoubling it, and then halving it, etc.
What about a passives tier list?
@Cephalopocalypse
Freecast is actually the most op power since it is bugged. you downgraded mind sanctuary since it is bugged, so I thought this should be mentioned 😉
When equipping or unequipping any item (even Clothes) you can toggel this power back on witch means you have infinite casts of anything this power effect out of combat.
For sorcerers this is most broken, due to metamagic which means infinite sorceriepoints and spellslots. or even for paladins with a sorcerer dip.
In combat you can even do this 3 time without any consequences, because you dont harm yourself by removing Clothes, shoes and underware.
Thank you. Mic has some sort of feed back on and off.
How do i unlock the ability to use ilithid powers as a bonus action? Finished the game 4 times and i have never seen this.
Look up "awakened" buff its from passing zaithisk checks in the Githyanki Creche
He talked about it in his last video about illithid powers. Look for BG3 article about using -zay-fisk- _zaith'isk_ "Find the Githyanki Crèche".
Spoilers:
You go to Creche in the monastery, visit the infirmary, and talk to the good doctor.
Either you need to make three skill checks if it's Lae'zel who goes into the device or you need to make three saving throws yourself (you need to convince your frog-eyed friend to let you go first). The details you can find in the article.
If you tell lae'zel to leave immediately like I did the first time, DC 30 persuasion, nat 20, she'll get out immediately and it explodes then and there. If you fail one of the three skill checks/saves you don't get the Awakened.
Thanks for this!! (btw your mic picks up way too much environmental noise, it was hard to listen to. Sounds like you're in a hollow box in a rainstorm at times)
Thanks! I hear the reverb/echo a bit, but I'm not hearing too many environmental sounds (though this was indeed recorded during a rainstorm) - is there a part of the video that's particularly bad?
Mic sounds worse. If the mic you got is a large diaphragm condenser, note that some designs look like they’re two-sided but definitely aren’t. If this is a possibility for the mic you got, run an A/B test recording from both sides. (Or, ya know, read the manual.)
Thanks for the feedback! (though I guarantee I did not set up the microphone backwards :P )
Before i even watch the video i would say for the new mic it kind of sounds like you are in an empty room. Not an expert on how fix this stuff but maybe some wall padding might help
Thanks for letting me know!
The new audio quality is very very good, can absolutely tell the difference immediately
Psionic dominance is an easy S tier. I don't understand how it could even be argued otherwise.
You're always saying how good of a spell counterspell is. This is just that spell but free (not taking a spell slot). You can get it on every character, regardless of class. It completely negates the need to actually ever take counterspell once you hit act 3. It shuts down every spell caster in act 3, of which there's a good few of.
It's on par with cull of the weak imo. Slightly less powerful of an ability, but more universal since everyone makes amazing use of it, rather than just your damage dealers.
Of you're worried about high level spells, you can either keep 1 character with counterspell, or just you know, hit them with multiple characters' psionic dominance. Roll multiple dice, unlikely they'll all fail.
@@noah9942.tbh I’ve never seen counterspell nor psionic dominance “succeed” the roll, but could just be a bug on console. If I cast a counterspell or dominance and it’s lower, it has never prevented the spell in my 6+ playthroughs.
@@kingofgrim4761 really? Are you on ps5? I play on xbox and never had issues with it
@@noah9942. I’m on Xbox, but yeah I have never seen counterspell nor dominance work if using a lower level slot. Kinda like when shield bash never worked due to no saving throw actually occurring. I’ll start trying to counterspell with lower levels almost exclusively to see if it’s just a string of bad luck or what haha
@@kingofgrim4761 shield bash? The move that knocks them prone? I see that working all the time.
New mic sounds much worse. It has a weird echo sound. Definitely tuning needed
ability drain is S tier because it applies condition = applies stacks of reverberation via boots.
Psionic overload is pain in the butt - can break concentation.
Stage fight is very good once you get tentacle powers as bonus action.
Cull the weak - very good even if you go for only 4 powers - ability drain and cull the weak.
TLDR
Action/bonus action economy is way too important to waste it on illithid abilities.
Your characters, specially in act 3, have better stuff to do in combat.
So.
Ability drain - Z tier.
Illithid Presuation - Z tier.
Cull the weak - S tier.
Shield of Thralls - S tier.
Black Hole - A tier.
Stage fight - A tier.
Anything else - trash.
New mic or recording preset or whatever it is, you sound diff
Blackhole + firewall = mega damage.
Only difference I have noticed in sound quality is there is more background noise. Thanks for the vid!
Fly is insane dude, I was disappointed by comparison when you get to control an actual illithid at the end of the game, and their Fly can only be used once per turn. kinda funny how ours is much stronger
True, it’s also weird that if Tav/karlach becomes a flayer, they get UNLIMITED levitate per turn, while emp and orph only have 1 per turn
Emperor is such a weak character compared to player character mindflayer. All the powerful abilities are nerfed and iirc he doesn't even get the permanent mind sanctuary effect. Maybe it's because the main character has the nether crown infused tadpole and Emperor doesn't, that would make sense
I will always eat the worm, it taste like cherry.
Sound about as not good as before but now I can hear your AC and mouth noises and stuff.
Audio definitely sounds like a downgrade.
*I'm constipated*
what would you consider moving tiers if you are doing a single character run and unlocking all of the skills anyway?
