Kivu is a lake with a huge amount of methane gas in the lowest water layer ... due to the volcanic activity in the area.
An interesting connection to Finland is that the Finnish engineering company Wärtsilä has supplied the power plants that utilize methane from the lake.
exactly, the next episode will speak about the gaz here, and the catastrophe that could happen, this quiet place is in fact really terrfying if you read about the geological and historical aspects

I've read that every thousand years the gases bubble to the surface so it's not a good idea to light a fire ... you never know.
It is also CO2 which comes from underground volcanic activity, the methane comes from algae or bacteria that eat the CO2 and produce methane. Once every 1000 years or so the CO2 level becomes so high that it will erupt and cause a large explosion of the lake, emitting deadly CO2 and killing millions... An earthquake could trigger such an eruption. It has been studied what can be done about it and lowering the CO2 concentration in the lake without a cataclismic explosion and huge emission of CO2.

Hey i watch your videos, yes Gisenyi is small city no adventours places but visit the stadium neighborhood there is more to see and also visit the small border of Rwanda and Congo which is one of the busiest borders in africa I hope you are liking your stay. the other thing about the driving wheel is that most Rwandans of Gisenyi Drives Congo Cars which is on the Right.

Thanks for the tour. Yes Goma was always and is a larger city than Gisenyi. Goma is also very beautiful surrounded be the 7 volcanic mountains. Last time I was in Gisenyi was in 1978. Obviously there were alot of unpaved roads which added to the adventure features of a trip especally when it rained. Your trips bring back a lot of wonderful memories. Well done! Its almost unnecessary to go personaly. What's missing is the personal touch and the unique sense of the african atmosphere's smell. I did "smash" that thumb and following. Good luck.

Ludo I think you have a story to tell. What brought you to Lagos? Your daughters are beautiful. I have not seen your wife yet, but judging from your children, she must be beautiful too. I love the way you travel. You are so respectful and call them all brother and sister and that is exactly the way it is. The most profound trip I've ever taken is to Kenya on safari. The animals were of course amazing and I've only seen them in the zoo here in America. The most amazing part of the trip was sharing a camp fire with the Maasai. Luckily for me they spoke English. I was interacting with men (the Maasai men only socially connect with other men). Can you imagine the conversation with people which have been living the same way for perhaps a million years? I live on the west coast of America and dealing with cutting edge technology. Something deep down in my soul connected with these people and it was an amazing experience. I think perhaps in our rush to move forward, we have lost something.

P.S. your motorcycle riding is amazing. Every video looks like your life is in jeopardy. Riding between trucks, busses and cars makes me white knuckled and tense. I could not risk my life that way. But what you bring us is amazing and much appreciated.

Thanks once again Ludo for showing us, especially Africans abroad that it is not only safe but rewarding to live and work and thrive in most parts of Africa including the so called dangerous tribes of Nigeria. We just need to be creative and throw away those chains placed on our necks by our parents and extended family. It is no longer only medicine, engineering or accounting that make a good career. Anything you are doing well with a passion, consistency and professionally is now a career and to boost your income you like Ludo can also share it with the world and make a living.

This is not a hotel is just a cheap lodge gisenyi 5star hotels even near that lodge am born in gisenyi
this was not the best experience, but the bed was okay, and price too, i mean compare to a 5 star

23:00 Congo drive on any side of the road where ever is space🤣lot of cars with stearing wheel on the left and right side because many cars get imported to africa from all parts of the world so you will find both.

Former english colonies drive on the left. Tanzania was a former british colony, and I guess also Ruanda, that is why they drive on the left. Btw. did you know lake Kivu contains a lot of CO2 and methane (CH4) from underground volcanic activity, once in a thousand years or so the lake could explode and emit a lot of CO2 which is deadly because it is heavier then air. An earthquake could trigger such an eruption. Ruanda tries to exploit the methane gas in the lake as energy resource, but they put the CO2 back into the lake, which might not be a good method.

Forbidden in all indoor public places, indoor workplaces and on public transport.
Statistics from 2021 claims only 7% of the population are smokers ,
and incredible 1% among the age group of 15-49 years (NISR) 🚬
yes the amount of smoker is really low, and this is a really good thing. !
